Another victim of plushification. Who will be next.
Hi, Vanna here. I have submitted to the strange authority of Xenforo's image hosting system, which demands that if I want gallery items to appear in proper order, I will have to upload them back to front.
As such, welcome to the last few page's of Animedia Magazine's September 1997 supplemental Duelist Bible, translated by Nagumo and edited by me!
Anyway
THIS IS NOT A DRILL, VINTAGE OFFICIAL PATTERNS FOR YOUR VERY OWN DIY CHU-CHU
I made him!!! Here he is!!!!
Honestly I think he turned out super well and Im proud of how he came out. For reference, this was my first attempt:
He has shaved eyebrows lol. Baby's first felt project.
This guide actually kind of sucks, so heres suggestions for making your own Chuchu:
* sew on details such as the inner ears and face BEFORE you stitch the matching pieces together, its much neater and easier to do those first.
* glue stiffens felt to the point that the needle cant pierce through the fabric, so its definitely a final step and embroider the eyes before attaching them to the head. Or better yet, just attach them directly and skip the glue.
* dont use thick embroidery thread for any part of your project if your chuchu is small, just double up your strands of standard thread for the face.
* Instead of just using pipecleaner for the tail, I inserted it between two cut pieces of felt to puff up the outer layers. I didnt have the right color pipecleaners to have it act as the tail, but I think this solution looks even better and the tail is still poseable.
* cut out a little hole for the earring to fit inside his ear and maybe dont fill them with as much stuffing as I did.
This project was really fun and now im so glad i can actually have a piece of utena merch. It wasnt too difficult and i think a lot of people can enjoy it.
Not coincidental that my art post with the most notes right now is also the most emo one
