        ::「⊘」:: ⊱ ━━ “REALLY!?” he gasped, pure delight lighting up his already bright golden eyes. The grip on his shovel tightened to the point of the skin on his knuckles starting to split as a nearly overwhelming wave of excitement washed through him. He quickly took a step back ( no doubt a relief, given how he hadn’t given any regard to her personal space ) and started to examine her from head to toe. Hellish eyes widened and narrowed while a tuneless hum rumbled in his throat. He came across yokai all the time when out on missions, but rarely the types who didn’t associate with sinister energies or locations.  

          Hardly more than a few minutes passed before he suddenly stood rigid and clanged the spade of his shovel against the ground.“I know, I know!!”he waved his hand in the air like a student desperately trying to get his teacher’s attention. “You’re– huhm…” What types of yokai did look like humans and tolerated them enough to live around them? Ah… he should have thought this through more readily. And even with that inkling of self-awareness, he still blurted without any further thought, “Rokurokubi!”

     the sudden action of the shovel’s tip being clanked against the ground caused her to jump slightly, which was followed by instant embarrassment. however, the embarrassment didn’t last long when it was clear that her new acquaintance had become more engrossed with discovering what she was. the scared pit in her stomach was slowly disappearing the more she saw how childlike he was.

     regretfully, she shook her head no upon hearing him declare that she was a rokurokubi. though she had the ability to expand a certain part of her body, it was not the neck. she could only imagine the shenanigans someone with such an ability could perform. “ i’m not a rokurokubi, ” she answered, slightly stretching her neck out the furthest she could --- almost as if she were trying to prove she were telling the truth. “ a part of my body is ... a little different than most, though. ” because of his excitement, she practically wanted him to succeed.

He hands were cupped over an object, both to keep secret and safe. He waited until she finally noticed him before gesturing gently in a beckoning motion, urging her to peek. In a small space between his hands, a soft light glows, then fades, and glows again. Someone caught a firefly. "Starbug!" He whispered.

     cautiously, she approached the other. she noted his childlike wonder and actions and found it endearing --- they were wholesome. silently, she leaned forward. quickly, her dark eyes caught sight of a flickering being concealed within his cupped hands. a firefly.

          “ those are hard to catch... good job. ”
