I dont work out due to my disability, but I want to try yoga. However, I'm worried about going because I'm heavy.

yeah. the way the fitness industry and culture is set up it’s like they don’t want to you exercise unless you are very much physically able + slim. you’ve probably heard of her but i’ve heard good things about Jessamyn Stanley. looks like she has a few tutorial videos on youtube, if you’re into those. when i feel especially anxious it feels a lot easier to just try to follow videos at home. i barely started looking into this stuff but body-positive yoga and pilates seem promising. lmk if you do end up trying yoga!

signed up for boxing classes on a whim. for 3 months, with a couple of friends. the gym is on the 9th floor, black & red decor with a yellow (yellow!) vending machine, the locker rooms a little cramped but clean. the trainers don’t look like they weigh themselves every day or only eat chicken breasts. one of them was a dyke. 

i felt a little giddy on my way out, and was wondering why--i think this was the first time i went to a gym and didn’t feel guilty about my body. what your teachers look like... it matters. of course. yes
