📍 The entrance to a beautiful Japanese (Yohsikien) garden from my trip to japan. And as I was thinking about life on the bus to work, I wished I was sitting and thinking in this garden instead. . . Lots of Thoughts = perfect time to journal tbh! Does anyone else feel that life is a cycle of sacrifices? It feels the hardest thing ever to even try and excel at all aspects of life, whether it’s your work/career, your mental and physical health, your relationships, your hobbies, etc. It just never feels like there’s enough time for it all. If I focus on excelling at work, sometimes I may be sacrificing after-work hours, to figure out a solution to a work problem, which then sacrifices any time i have for my hobbies or relationships. If I spend more time with my friends after work, then I feel guilty about not spending it at home, like i’m upsetting my family, and vice versa, of course. If I focus on trying to do well in all these, then I’m sacrificing my sleep, or sometimes even peace of mind because I don’t even get the time to think! Each aspect of life somehow affects the other, and it feels impossible to do well in all, or sometimes even one. Anyway, one of the first things I do when I encounter a problem, is google it, but rather than finding out “how to excel in all aspects of life”, a typo happened. And instead, I learned about how to prevent head lice. So if you need tips on that, let me know😂 I do think though, that no one really has it all figured out. As long as you’re trying to do your best day by day, it’s good enough. Even if your best is just getting enough sleep and going to work that day. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐟 𝐀 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐤𝐲 - 𝙊𝙣𝙚. This picture so perfectly fell into place all by itself, yet it is one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken. (sadly cropped by ig here). I was taking pictures of the sunset on my hike to Lantau Peak and spotted a person sitting on top of the peak; who automatically became my muse. And this picture was taken in a split second moment as my muse put on his bag, and left the spot to go back down. Perfect timing. - Now, let me tell you about an interestingly disorienting day I had this weekend. It was a mess of a day, there was a lot to do, but everything somehow kept going wrong at the very last minute. Mind you, I was prepared and went for things earlier than necessary. Yet, either google map would get me to take the wrong path, or the places i’m supposed to get to would close earlier than usual. When it kept happening again and again, I felt very disoriented and got clumsier, forgot things at places, took wrong routes, etc. I wasn’t upset about the day at all, but rather mystified, thinking why is this day like this? And decided to slow down, give up trying anything else that day, hoping tomorrow won’t be the same. Today, as I thought back, I realized I was noticing every single thing going wrong that day; even the smallest details. I realized, I also have completely opposite days where everything goes right, and falls into place perfectly without trying at all. I could be leaving at the very last minute, almost late, but there would be a bus for me to take at the perfect time. I may be not able to sleep early on certain days, but then wake up very refreshed and energetic. I have had days where things keep going right as well, just like how I took this picture, at a split second perfect time that anyone could have missed.
