With regard to the AHCA, I hope it helps people realize why some neurodivergent folks prefer self diagnosis and/or are not seeking a professional diagnosis. When certain “pre-existing conditions” include OCD, autism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, etc. & directly affects access to healthcare and by extension any medical treatment that someone might receive (not even mental health related)… Choosing NOT to get a professional diagnosis is a completely valid option given the risks that getting professionally diagnosed comes with. Even if the AHCA doesn’t pass, the threat of this alone is enough to make poor neurodivergent folks realize how professional diagnoses can affect their livelihood. So people who are anti-self diagnosis can fuck off.
