my name is hae (she/her), and i'm based in singapore!

to be frank i only write poetry, but in the future i might do some descriptive writing as well, just to broaden my skill set

leaning out the window

hair billowing

in the wind

laughter echoing

through the woods

eyes glazed with mirth

head first into the lake

water glistening enticing a

stacks and stacks

paper after paper

a never-ending stream of

work jumbled up in

a heap piled one after

the other strung along

in a run on sentence —

a race against time

is a race unwinnable

trying to escape you is like being blindfolded in a maze with the Minotaur himself

tethered by a ball of yarn to the imaginary and yet overcome by reality

sometimes i miss my grandfather

i never learnt his language

or understood his tongue

or dissected his lineage

it’s one of my biggest regrets.

my eyes cloud over with green

as i observe the callous hands of

the elderly grandfather down the street

peeling oranges for his darling

granddaughter

wishing that was me.

maybe i only miss

the grandfather i would have had

had i spoken his blood

and reached into my ancestry

a verbal connection

to intertwine our lives

closer

midnight thoughts

i wake up and have the sudden realisation that i'm still alive

tearing at my skin nitpicking the dust settling in my pores

i've been immobile for too long

who am i? what am i? i am but the dust and shadows the hollow whispers of the wind

i come and go doing as i please

and dissociate from reality

engage in a staring contest with the ceiling overcome with emotions distraught beyond measure

for where do we go when we fall asleep?

i blink — thoughts flying out of my head as i sink back into the pillows back to the nightmares that haunt my very thoughts
