Elphaba gives an ugly snort, an easy solace found when confiding in Nessa. It wasn't as if they could talk to her about just anything⠀⠀—⠀⠀but this seemed safe enough to share, considering sensible clothing was well within her area of expertise. Murderer they were not, but wounded still, even if it was only inflicted from meaningless schoolyard squabbling.
“ Even if I had, you know I've the sense to cover my tracks, ” They mutter, as if not fully intent on having it heard. A toffee is a welcome distraction, though, which they're more than happy to pluck two of the offered pieces from her open palm.
“ Thank you, Nessie, ” Elphaba says softly; a faint, toothy grin makes their eyes crinkle at the corners. They unwrap a toffee thoughtfully, popping it into their sharpened maw, then tucking the candy against the side of their cheek with a contented hum.
“ He said that they were too old, and made me look like I belonged in a cloister, ” They admit at last, no inflection found in their voice, nor any change in their expression. It wasn't as if he were wrong.
“ Said they were probably boots tailored for a man, too. ” Elphaba noticeably glowers at that, the toffee at last crunching between their teeth. They give an overly-aggressive chew.
“ Well, no matter. I told him he looked like he had the mouth of a toad and couldn't keep it shut just the same. ” They lick their teeth, the dissolving sugar getting caught in their back molars. They flash Nessarose an innocent smile.
“ And I may have knocked his supplies for class out of his hands. I think having to spend an extra half hour picking up quills is penance enough, wouldn't you agree? ”
