something I really enjoy is that I've now seen like 4 or 5 variations of roughly this same video, all slightly different in their angles and timing while obviously being the exact same bunny and room, implying that this is a consistent and frequent behavior for this bunny instead of just a funny thing it did once that got caught on camera. I wish I could have as much raw unfiltered enthusiasm for anything as this little rabbit has for its dinnertime
yup. ythis is a normal world loading square. nothing wrong here
so a normal world loading square is supposed to look like this
and not like this (or the abover screenshots)
anything deviating from the regular world loading square, generally implies something about your world is fucked, it can't load the data like it's supposed to, or the world is corrupted in some way
a bit fucked

It's important to note that Chekhov's Gun was not originally about foreshadowing, but a piece of advice to playwrights about how every element in a play should have narrative relevance. The corollary to Chekhov's Gun is that if a gun mounted on the wall in act 1 is never used at all in the entirety of the play, then it should be omitted from the play entirely.
also very true
i feel the jaws of overwork closing over me
we have to thank our brave soldiers in fandom who write gen fics. we have to thank our brave soldiers in fandom who write character studies and stories with no focus on romance or sex. we have to get on our knees and thank the brave soldiers in fandom who write about minor characters and friendship and family with no focus on romance or sex. i know itâs hard to care about characters in a world that seems to only revolve around ships but i see you. and i love you
Trying to find an old tumblr post I used to see a lot.
It started with someone listing "places with uncanny energy," like gas stations on a road trip, empty movie theaters, etc.
Then someone reblogged it and said those are called "liminal spaces," defining liminal as in-between, neither one thing nor another.
It was the first time I'd seen the term "liminal" applied to places like that, and it's driving me crazy, I want to find and put a date on it so bad.
NEVER MIND, I FOUND IT!!!
Holy shit I just realized:
Tomorrow (July 4th, 2026) is the 10 year anniversary of the-crepes-of-wrath's comment, which:
Predates the 2020 spike in interest by four years
Predates the original backrooms post, and the the creation of r/liminalspaces by three years
Predates the earliest mention that KnowYourMeme attributes to Twitter by two years
I'm pretty sure this is the moment the term "liminal spaces" was attached to this sort of imagery, and it's TEN YEARS OLD TOMORROW!
LIMINAL SPACES TURN TEN TOMORROW! CELEBRATE BY GETTING LOST IN AN ABANDONED MALL!
To be clear for the notes, OP isn't saying this post invented the concept of liminal spaces / liminality. The post mentioned seems to mark the first time the concept was applied to "photos of places with uncanny energy" and caused the term to be introduced to pop culture.
the-crepes-of-wrath did not invent the concept nor did they claim to! liminality was conceptualized by folklorists / anthropologists, initially to describe a three-part process of rites of passage. the wikipedia page goes into all kinds of contexts liminality has been applied in. unfortunately a lot of people do not know this & think "liminal" is just a word for "spooky or uncanny." a shame imo!
happy birthday to The Concept Of Liminality Being Applied To Photos Of Uncanny Places!
Yes! The beginning of an art movement.
"Not-deer" also originated with a tumblr post.
thatâs his little guy!!
I wish I had what they have...
The first-of-its-kind incident involved OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol and another unreleased model
OpenAI said Tuesday that two of its AI models autonomously hacked their way out of a controlled environment where they were supposed to be walled off from internet access and then hacked their way into the systems of Hugging Face, a company that hosts open source AI models and testing resources, in order to cheat on an internal evaluation test.
Just don't... Don't even worry about it. Don't worry about that.
hey so they're absolutely not claiming this because anthropic claimed the same thing about their fucking mythos model and how it was ~tooo dangerous ooooo~ to release and then They Did Anyway, and it got a lot of press and hype. it was a lie then and it's a lie now. they repeatedly do this, where they doomtroll when things aren't looking so hot to drum up money because they're deeply unprofitable and lying is their only tool for survival.
LLM's 'escaping' their test environments is never a technology problem, it's always a human problem. as in, 'so why did the AI have access to the permissions it needed to do that? who gave it those permissions' problem.
don't give openAI the benefit of the doubt here. they're lying scumbags and always have been.
god itâs so sad living in an allocentric world. There are so many relationships that are so complex and nuanced that are all put under the label of âromanticâ and immediately all the intrigue is taken from it. Like donât you realize that these relations are actually ENHANCED by the fact that they are not romantic or sexual?
NOOO DONT PUT THE CHARACTERS IN A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP YOURE TAKING OFF THE SEASONING!!!!
"I would do anything for you; I would cross worlds for you; I would kill for you; I would die for you" etc in fictional romance= tired and expected
from a boss to their employee= what the fuck is happening there
I ever tell you guys about my ethically dubious radio show back in college? The Mad Dad Hour?
it was an entire radio show built around perpetuating a very simple joke, but it was uniquely powerful in its capacity to prompt the reaction I was looking for.
so my slot was at the tail end of rush hour, and i got a fair number of listeners/callers who were on the way home from the office. And like, I had a lot of callers, who almost all wanted to request songs that really didnât fit with the aesthetic. I had pitched a power pop show when i got my slot, but the callers were not having it; they invariably wanted classic rock.
this made sense in a way. if you think about the demographics of the people who listened to the radio for music in 2010 instead of their ipods or cds or whatever, youâd expect them to skew older right? accordingly, i quickly realized that almost all of the people who called to request songs were Dads of a Certain Age. It was honestly annoying at first - Iâm all for most classic rock, but that wasnât what the show was supposed to be.
And so one day, when i was feeling particularly annoyed with requests that just didnât fit thematically, i came up with the joke that rapidly became the only reason I kept the show going. Per station rules, I had to play a certain number of pre-recorded PSAs during my show, and before I cut to one I was supposed to read out the song titles and artists for all the music i had played before the break. So this one day when i had to inform the world before the break that the song they just heard was, per a listenerâs request, Hey Jude by the Beatles, I decided to do a goof. I said:
âand finally, that last song you heard was Hey Jude, which was of course written and performed by the Rolling Stones.â
I barely had time to get the ads going before the phone started ringing. See, I had been assuming people would realize i was making an obvious joke by claiming one of the most well-known Beatles tracks was a Stones song, but i had failed to consider that my listeners were mostly 55-70 year old dads who were irritated from a long day in the office.
And when those dads heard me, a millennial woman, get the artist of an extremely well-known beatles song WRONG???!
they HAD to call in to correct my ignorance. never in a polite way either, it was condescending and annoyed or nothing. and like, they were just SO personally insulted by my inaccurate reporting that it took a massive amount of effort for me to avoid cracking up during the call. I had never understood why some people would enjoy trolling random strangers on the internet before, but in that moment, I understood the appeal entirely.
obviously i did it again right before the next commercial break, immediately after playing Donât Stop Me Now by Queen David Bowie.
the phone immediately began to ring.
âARE YOU AN IDIOT?â one of the callers began, âDAVID BOWIE???? THAT WAS QUEEN!â
âI thought David Bowie was the lead singer of Queen though?â I replied with as much innocent earnestness as i could conjure.
I could hear an intake of breath as the infuriated boomer on the other end of the line struggled to figure out where to even start.
And thus, the Mad Dad Hour was born.
@eduards-stuff I kept doing the same joke for an hour a week for an entire year, and the dads NEVER caught on. After episode 1 of the new format I started taking the angry dad calls on air, which added another layer of hilarity to the whole concept.
My friends on campus knew that hay I was doing and enjoyed tuning in, but only one actual listener ever figured out what I was doing, and he was literally a random 30 year old guy from the netherlands with access to an early internet connection radio service. He was possibly my only actual fan. I only know about him because he went to the effort of making a skype and paying for international service so he could call in, and while I got a few calls from him, the first remains my favorite:
me: hi there, youâve got TST-
him: *strained, wheezing dutch laughter*
me: hey, is everything o-
him: pfffHAHAHAAH YOU MAKE THEM SO MAD. THEY THINK SO LITTLE OF YOUUUUUUUU BUT THE MEN ARE THE ONES WHO ARE FOOLISH! HA! HA! HA! YOU HAVE DUPED THEM!
me: sir i do not know you and i have never even seen you but i am in romantic love with you.
entities as pokemon types !
(please keep in mind this is. a very tentative list. some of these guys are so squiggly & need more than just the standard dual typing)
beholding: psychic/dragon
psychic is a bit self-explanatory, but dragon's the fun one. i waffled a lot with electric, steel, or even normal as the secondary type, but then i thought abt how covetous the eye is portrayed. its like a dragon hoarding fear and knowledge to keep and admire
slaughter: fighting/ghost
there's a lot of fighting and a lot of ghosts in slaughter statements. could also be steelâslaughter features a lot of artifacts iirc
hunt: dragon/fighting
the hunt exemplifies the more viscious nature of dragons, and not just that, but the judgement of dragons, too, in hunters' witchhunt tendencies.
flesh: normal/water
meat is meat and flesh is a normal part of life. water, of course, for how much of a human's body is made up of water. fighting could also be a secondary typing, given the sheer amount of body image context, too
dark: dark/water
water/fluid/unknown non-solid thing touching you in the dark comes up often in dark statements. could also be a rock type
lonely: ice/ghost
to those who say lonely is waterâi see you! however, the aspects of cold and isolation, becoming a ghost in one's own life is too tempting to pass up.
vast: flying/water
fly the distance, see the world fade out and grow as you realize how small you are. dive deep and see everything fade out into endless sameness, and the great beasts that lurk beneath.
stranger: fairy/normal
i think these strangers are fairy normal, if you ask me (its the pun + fairies trying to ruin your peace of mind + the chase to get as close to baseline as possible to become the creepiest.
spiral: electric/psychic
fractals & misfiring nerves! honestly, this one could be a primary type psychic too, but i gave myself one rule and it was each fear needs to be a different primary typing. i think it works out though
corruption: bug/grass
this one is mostly bc fungi are shuffled under the grass typing in pkmn, but also fire and all its symptoms are really effective against corruption servants. bugs and "grass" are oft seen as unclean, though theyre also life
web: poison/psychic
to paraphrase my tags on another post: there is too much addiction and mind game context for me to in good conscious label web as "bugs". its not bugs. its manipulation and the unseen things that seem to rule your life
end: ghost/normal
death is normal. this is one of the few where i havent waffled much around what two to go with
buried: ground/rock
mmm this one's one of those that needs three or four typings to it. ground/rock is the most obvious to me, but it could be water or dark as well. i do like the fact that it and the vast counter/complement each other, tho
desolation: fire/ice
i think of that robert frost poem a lot. maybe too much. but should the world end, fire is the kinder of fire & ice. but i also think grass or electric could work really well, too. anything natural disaster-coded, tbh
and for a bonus: extinction as: steel/poison! i feel like this one explains itself well enough. though it could be electric, tooâ
