udhsjsjjsjdjdjdjd my boss at work when i bring up racial microaggressions (relevant to smthng else) and shes like omg i like to think im like quite a bit more educated on this than the average person (red flag all on its own) and then spits out the most bullshit story abt an indigenous person making a joke she "would have laughed at but not at [workplace]" for no reason. like what was the point. now i extra dont believe u. cause why r we inviting indigenous ppl into a space and literally on land stolen from them and then shit talking a fucking joke. idek what the joke was but id bet my life savings it was abt colonizers or racism or their experience w it and it just made her (my boss) uncomfortable. and THEN she thought that the appropriate time to talk abt that was in a completely separate convo abt racial microaggressions. like. right right. great example [my boss' name here]! also dont pmo lets not perpetuate stupid "respectable and professional" bullshit on ppl who have literally experienced and are still experiencing genocide at the hand of people like us (shes white and we work adjacent to gov. so.)

I think it's actually essential to children's moral development to be exposed to short stories moderately beyond their reading level where a bunch of fucked up shit happens and then instead of offering a moral lesson or any sort of emotional or narrative resolution it just ends.
