RULES & SUCH.

01. ACTIVITY. don't expect much, sorry! i have a full time job, i'm in several ongoing D&D campaigns, and i do volunteer work on the side. i'm busy and everything is nonstop all the time, so my roleplaying sometimes has to fall to the side! i will try my best to be here, though. i also struggle with responding to direct messages both on tumblr and discord - apologies in advance, it's nothing personal.

02. GRAPHICS, ETC. i am slowly finding the time to deck this blog out with all the usual graphics, but as above i simply don't have a lot of time! to ease the pressure of myself so i can bring myself to write, i have elected to keep this blog dash only and iconless for now. eventually i'll have icons... the whole blog is a work in progress.

03. PORTRAYAL. because this blog is a work in progress, i don't have any pages/carrds/whatever the kids are doing these days. in terms of my portrayal there are several important things to note: astarion is an abuse victim. astarion is not a nice person. astarion is famously difficult to get along with. i will not soften his edges. i like writing imperfect characters! i have put a lot of thought into my astarion - i wish i had the time to delve into him right now, but please know that he can be erratic, cruel, and contradictory. he is one big walking trauma response.

04. SHIPPING. i won't ship unless we plot first. i will not write my astarion automatically dating your tav unless we plot first. i am picky about who i ship him with because of his many issues lol. a relationship with astarion may not be healthy or good for our characters in the long run - that's fine! it can be fun to write! just please don't expect him to be the perfect boyfriend. he has issues, as we all know.

05. CONTENT WARNINGS. 18+ blog due to the nature of the game itself. i won't write outright explicit sex scenes but like, sex will be an important theme on this blog. as stated, astarion is an abuse victim; themes of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse will be present - i will tag accordingly where possible. canon-typical violence abound! once i again i will try to tag accordingly.

06. HI, I'M VINCE! people also call me beetle. my pronouns are he/they. i've been writing in the rpc for as long as i've been on tumblr (twelve years!) and i've gone through many a blog in my time. if you recognize me, say hi! if you don't say hi anyway! i am diagnosed with DID, which means my memory can be spotty. i love forgotten realms lore and playing D&D. famously bad taste in men.

Astarion had long since forgotten how the sun felt warming his skin; in fact, the last time he'd even seen the sun had been after a particularly nasty incident with Cazador. It had burned, then. A stinging, torturuous kind of burning that made him feel as if his skin - his very bones - would crumble away into ash. How novel it is, then, to be stretched out across a rock, eyes closed as he basks in the sun's glow.

Vyper lays next to him, tail flicking occasionally. Astarion lets out a soft sigh, much like a purring cat. "I must admit, my scaly friend - I hate this roughing it business, but this I could get used to." / @pitofvypers

Vyper cannot recall much of his days before he found himself in a crash landing nautiloid. What he can recall, however, is just how nice it feels to have a moment like this one. As one of many kinds of dragonborn that did not get the privilege of heat running through their veins, any moment like this where his scales can glisten along the sun's warm light is a nice one. Especially around Astarion. Something about him simply felt... Nice. Yes, nice. The vampire knew all the ways to make that tail of his wag, and as flustered as it often made him, he didn't dislike it. "It is one thing I enjoy about camping." Vyper nodded along. "Can never have too much sun." Laid on his stomach with his chin resting in between his arms, he wasn't posed too dissimilarly to how Scratch rested once he was tired from one too many games of catch.

Astarion likes Vyper. Perhaps not for the right reasons - the vampire doesn't concern himself with the dragonborn's feelings, or morals, or thoughts. He couldn't care less, when it comes to really getting to know the poor thing. No, Astarion likes Vyper because Vyper is simple. Easy to read. He wags his tail when he's happy. He tucks it between his legs when he's afraid. Astarion always knows where he stands.

He's more like a pet than a person. Astarion doesn't think he'd mind the comparison, but he's sure if he said it out loud their other companions would have something to say about it.

“I haven't felt the sun in two-hundred years,” Astarion laments. “I'd forgotten how it felt. All that slinking around in the darkness - you know, people who say the stars are beautiful have never learned to appreciate a blue sky.”

One of her auburn curls - often so carefully styled - has sprung away from its fastenings and is sticking out from the top of her head. It looks ridiculous. Astarion neglects to comment on it, though he does subconsciously run a hand through his own hair to ensure everything is still in place.
