Something I wrote ages ago, but the creative wipeout still applies. Spoilery for Anohana (The Flower We Saw That Day), Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and DARLING in the FRANXX.
So my friend was all “Well if you’re going on an 80s nostalgia kick, then draw me Rainbow Brite,” and well here we are.
Before BanG Dream!, before Love Live!, even before K-ON! (What’s with all these exclamations?), there was Jem and the Holograms. (Apologies to Kakifly and Kyoto Animation for unapologetically ripping off their poses.)
Apparently Toei animated at least 54 of Jem’s episodes, so I always wondered if the animators took some of the concepts they were asked to animate and applied them to their own work.
Thoughts on Tumblr.
I’m hoping for a crossover in this year’s Star Detective PreCure. Crayon Shin-chan appeared in Wonderful PreCure, but they might both be animated by Toei, and I think Detective Conan is linked to the same company that animate Pokémon. Although if that’s the case, then why haven’t we had a Pokémon and Detective Conan crossover…?
Thoughts on fandom and IP and how they might collide in the future.
Thoughts on how Pokémon is not making it easy to satisfy my yearnings for the OG Kantō era Japanese anime.

Logically there must be a third strip where Unohana cures Zaraki’s insomnia by saucy snuggly means, but depicting that is just not in my skill set.
Thoughts about the Internet.
My (slightly shippy) thoughts on Kagurabachi 112.
I’m quite impressed at the discipline Takeru Hokazono has shown with his plotting. He hasn’t sped up the narrative, changed direction, added a random batch of powerful characters, gone on a training arc, make rocks fall and everybody dies—hang on, he did that at the start. So far everything in the story has happened organically, builds upon previous events and has added to the world.
Are we going to get a time skip now that Part 1 is finished though? I can’t say that I’m keen. I’d kinda like to see this blacksmith bladesmith sword forger side of Chihiro in more detail, and see how the other characters react to this side of him.
Hello I just found your blog because someone shared a link to your JJK thoughts, and now I'm barely stopping myself from going on a deep dive through your blog. It's amazing to see someone share many similar thoughts and be able to put them into words so well! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and analyses! (And your illustrations! They're all so charming!)
Now, uh, time to think of an actual question. Have you written or do you plan on writing your thoughts on Sakamoto Days when it ends? (Like a series of posts like Bleach and JJK?) I saw that you're reading it too, and you're actually more updated than I am 😂 (I read in binges.)
I really enjoy Sakadays, and I get sad when I see there's not a lot of meta or analyses on it. I tried searching your blog but I couldn't find any posts. (Well, Tumblr search sucks...)
Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Hello, SakaDays-Anon! ^_^
I’m glad you found and enjoyed my thoughts on JJK. It’s heartening to know that I’m adding to fandom discourse in a positive way. Eeep, that’s a stuffy way of saying “give people something interesting to read”. But really, that’s what I want to do. I know it can be very frustrating and a little lonely to be enthusiastic about a story/character/ship, only to look out on the vast expanse of Internet and find there’s nothing there.
As for Sakamoto Days, I might do a Battle with My Subconscious Mind series when it ends. (Though I’d have to do an entire reread from the start. And I don’t really want it to end at this stage.) But unlike JJK, any quibbles I have with SakaDays (which aren’t many) aren’t to do with the story/presentation of the manga, and more to do with the nature of Jump and weekly serialisation and the effect they have on stories. So I feel a Battle would be less about analysing Sakamoto Days and more about raging at Jump. Which can be interesting in itself, so we’ll see what develops.
But if I write down and draw any thoughts and reactions to recent chapters of Sakamoto Days, I’d put them under the “jivey jump talk” tag. That’s where I stick anything related to do with current Jump series or past Jump series.
