Meaning: Gustav means spirit, white Drusus means strong.
Gender: Female
Age: 18 (25 post-7YL.)
Birthday: April 15th of X766
Title: Energetic Fast-Kicker

Melinda Gustav (Used to be Melinda Drusus) – Mother (Deceased in the middle of the time skip.)
Norman Drusus – Ex-Father (Currently alive)
Bingo Gustav – Grandfather (Deceased before the story.)
Basic information sounds good!
Physical Appearance:
Ene is a girl whose body looks slightly like a man because of her small breasts, broad shoulders, and her average sized waist (a.k.a. not slim). She has a brown hair that’s cut into a short bob and hazel eyes. She has the weight of 123 lbs and the height of 160 cm. She has a white Fairy Tail mark stamped at the left side of her neck. The color of her skin is medium beige.
I saw the picture you sent us of her, too. It’s refreshing to see OCs with unique and original looks!
Her general upper-clothing consists of a T-Shirt (sometimes printed) and a plain-colored jacket that’s usually tied to her waist. And her lower-clothing consists of knee-length cargo pants, socks reaching her knee, and red and white running shoes with wings at the sides (Magical Running Shoes).
Ooh, I like the idea of magical running shoes! She sounds very athletic.
She will dress differently if there’s an important occasion, but she won’t wear anything too revealing. Maybe a long sleeved dress that reaches her ankle that has a small V-Neck collar.
The color scheme of her clothes depends on the weather. If it’s hot, she wears light-colored schemed clothes. But if it’s cold, she wears darker schemed clothes.
Why does she change colour schemes of her outfits based on the weather?
After the 7YL, she has grown into the height of 166 cm and has the weight of 130 lbs. Her short bob has gotten longer and has reached her upper back. Her body posture is still the same. Because she got into an accident in the middle of the time skip, she uses a wheel-chair now. Her feet has become unavailable for her service. She wears sweaters paired with long pants/jeans as of now.
Very interesting. I’m curious to see how this plays out with her personality development!
Personality:
In the outside,
Ene is an introvert. She prefers to keep things for herself, which is why she prefers to work in a one-man team. She likes to stand behind the background rather than having the limelight for herself. The person she opens up to is her mother because they are very close. People will have a hard time opening her up. It is because she used to skip school (at her hometown) a lot because she preferred helping her mother at home and that made her quite awkward. She has a hard time smiling too.
Ene is a quiet person. But that doesn’t mean she hates crowded places but she doesn’t really want to be involved. Because she rarely speaks, her voice comes out meekly and softly. That doesn’t mean she can’t scream. But people would need to be in a closer distance to her if they want to hear what she’s saying. Her mother is a soft-spoken person, so Ene adapts to her mother’s voice too.
These traits go quite well together. I also like that you explained why she is this way. I also like the explanation of her soft voice!
Ene is flexible and would obey orders of a trustable person easily. But if the order is against her common sense, she will follow her feelings first and be a lot more stubborn. (Reason is the same as the “introvert” one.) One thing to note is that she will always obey her mother with no questions. She will be loyal to people she trusts with no buts.
This is a little bit confusing. If she always obeys her mother without question, what if her mother wants her to do something against her common sense? Will she follow her feelings, then? Remember consistency here: either have it so that she will obey trustworthy people with no questioned asked, or that she generally obeys people, unless something goes against her common sense.
Ene is family-oriented. She will always put her mother and father first. Even if her father did divorce her mother. She still cares for him. Her guild comes second, after spending 8 years with all of the members, she couldn’t just ignore them easily. Because, she spends most of her early lifetime with her family and her mother liked reading Family-genre stories to her. She plans on taking her mother to Fairy Tail so that her two closest people can be one.
This makes sense! If she had a decent family-life growing up, then I’m sure that would also contribute to her being family-oriented.
Ene is a patient person and would keep her selfishness to herself. The worst outcome when she’s ticked off is that her voice would be a lot more stern and loud. Besides anger, she wouldn’t be the easiest person to cry when trouble comes. Because she holds her feelings inside, there would be times where she wouldn’t be able to hold it and it’ll all come off as a mental breakdown. The reason is she doesn’t want people to know about her past or take pity on her or her mother. As that would trouble her mother a lot.
Makes sense. Sometimes, bottling up emotions can result in an emotional explosion at some point.
In the inside,
Ene is actually a very active person, physically. Before the divorce, if her father had free time, he would take Ene to jogs and races. Making her very fast and speedy. Her mother thinks that it would be good if Ene wanted to use the Magical Running Shoes that used to be her father’s. So she takes Ene to early exercises too. After moving to Magnolia, Ene jogs alone around the town before her mother wakes up. Sometimes, this activeness can make her be very hard to stay still and cause accidents to happen.
Interesting! I’m curious about what kinds of accidents happen because of her finding it difficult to stay still, though.
Ene is actually easily excited. Though that has never been shown straight-forwardly. But it’s usually noted by the big deep breath she takes from her nose and her broad smile she has on her face. That’s why when she’s disappointed, her face shows it quite easily. Though no one seems to notice it.
What makes her so easily excited?
Ene is a tomboy. Her father introduced her action comics (Shounen Mangas) when she was eight and she loved it. Secretly, she actually wants to join the brawls the guild members of Fairy Tail gets into a lot. She did it once, and her mother became very worried and scolded her for it. So she never did it again. The other features of her boyishness is her clothing style.
I like that she secretly wants to join Fairy Tail brawls. I think it ties in well with her outward introversion and quietness.
Despite the fact that she’s an introvert, she wants to open up. But finds herself having a hard time to do that with her awkwardness and stubborn trait. Which is why she can only hope for someone to open her up.
This makes sense. I know someone who is very introverted and has a very difficult time opening up to others because she's so shy—and a little awkward and stubborn. Great thinking here.
She expresses a deep dislike to people who are apathetic, a rebel to their family for no reason, and unloyal to their family. Which is why she expresses a deep dislike to Laxus (and herself). She’s also not fond of romantic stories. She thinks that it can lead to your downfall. But she supports real romances secretly. As she secretly hopes that her mother and father would get together again when she was little. She also dislikes spicy food because she can’t stand the spiciness.
Be careful with the dislike toward a guild-mate. If she doesn’t like disloyalty toward one’s family, I understand the discomfort she would feel with Laxus. However, as a member of a guild, you’re expected to treat your guild-mates like nakama. Everyone was surprised at Laxus during the Fighting Festival Arc because he didn’t do this, and Laxus was even surprised himself when he realized that Fairy Law wouldn’t work because he actually did care about his guild-mates to an extent. As long as this isn’t a burning hatred with a strong desire to kill Laxus and she doesn't act on this "dislike," I guess you’d be fine.
She likes action comics. As explained before at the tomboy section. And finds herself envy, but idolize, someone who can truly express themselves. And from the fact that she reads many action comics about loyalty and friendship, she admires an organization that can do that. Hence, the reason why she likes Fairy Tail. Ene would find herself being alone near a school every Parent’s Day so that she can express her sadness.
What is she expressing her sadness about? Is it related to the fact that she has a hard time expressing herself?
Past:
Her parents met at the Hound Holy. [Note: A normal guild mentioned briefly at the pages about Guilds section of Fairy Tail wikia if I’m not wrong.] Her adventurous, yet aggressive father was starting out as an S-Class Mage with the axe-requip magic while her passive, yet kind-hearted and entertaining mother is the newbie, mage who focuses on raising the stats of the team member and they are paired up together for their first mission. Though both of them experience rocky starts with their complete opposite personality, they eventually fell in love. The one who initiated the confession was her father right after he realized that they were in love. Her mother accepted without any buts.
After a few months of dating, they finally decided to marry. A year after the wedding and honeymoon, her mother got pregnant with Ene and decided to take a hiatus from her job as a mage. Her mother went into labor when her father just got into the town and he was in a hurry that he quickly bought the expensive “Magical Running Shoes” just to get there in time. He got there when the baby was almost out and helped his wife through the long hardship.
The baby girl was born normally and was named “Energize Drusus” with the nickname of Ene. They named her Energize because her dad was so excited and energetic to meet her that he ran from the east of the town to the very west of the town, the place of the hospital her mother was laboring in. And her mother was positively full of energy too. So, they wanted to share that energy.
Yes, you’re right about Hound Holy. I love the story of her parents’ relationship, and I especially love his reason for buying the magical running shoes and the story behind Ene’s name.
Her mother was still on a break and her father kept going to longer jobs. He says it is to “pay the rents”. When he actually has a new team and a new girlfriend. Her mother started to suspect something a month after her 5thbirthday and from there, things went downhill. Ene started hearing shouts and screams from her parent’s room after getting back from school. They rarely smiled at each-other when meeting. Her father started coming home a lot more later, her mother started staying up late and still took her break. But she still didn’t know anything because they hid that kind of attitude in front of her.
A trigger to Ene’s introvert attitude was at the parent’s day event when she was at the fifth grade of her elementary year. The only one who came was her mother and the other kids had both of their parents with them. Confused, she asked her mother but she noticed that her mother was in a lot of stress. And that made her stressed out too. And envy started to build as the show went on, and envy became anger. Before she went home, a friend of her asked about her father’s whereabouts (innocently) and it came off as an emotional breakdown. She injured her friend, got scolded by her principal and her mother. After she revealed her concerns, she took behavioral therapy and it was a success.
She was confused on how to apologize and eventually, her friends started moving away from her. This was one of the things that she kept a secret from her mother to prevent her mother’s stress building up again. Ene became a lot more distant but a lot more obedient to her mother.
Great explanation here about why Ene is the way she is. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Ene actually struggled with repressed anger and anger management due to this event. This would be an interesting flaw to work with! Maybe she also had problems repressing her anger and lashed out at people when she was angry in the past? It’s definitely something to think about!
Two years since that incident, her mother finally found out the truth. Her father was indeed cheating on her. He was tired of the less challenging life and wants more, the one thing that his new girlfriend has, and plans to divorce his wife. Her mother took the initiation and divorced him first, earned custody of Ene and moves out to Magnolia at the end of X778. Resigning from the Hound Holy with no obstacles because none of the crowded guild cared. But Ene did earn the truth when she heard rumors about the divorce.
Why wouldn’t anyone at the guild care? Did Ene’s mother have at least one friend at the guild she could count on or talk to?
Her mother went back to her maiden name, “Melinda Gustav” and so did Ene, her last name became Gustav too. Both of them went back to Magnolia, her mother’s hometown and it was where her grandfather lived too. Her grandfather was a Fairy Tail member but resigned because of old age and he’s a good friend of Makarov. Which was why he offered her mother to join Fairy Tail, but she declined. And because her mother declined the offer, Ene plans to decline the offer if he asks her to join Fairy Tail.
The first month at Magnolia was hard. Her mother’s health took a toll and her neighbor, Naomi Mine [Note: A headcanon name for Wakaba’s fiancé.] who works as a doctor at the local Magnolia hospital, would love to cure the disease. But it was very expensive and insurance or even Norman’s monthly pay doesn’t cover it.
Be careful assigning a name and duties to a character like this. You don’t know if this character will be named eventually or not. I’d recommend just calling her Mrs. Mine, or Wakaba’s wife. We also don’t know much about her, such as if she can use magic, where she works if she does, etc. Since you’re not really contradicting canon by assigning information to Wakaba’s wife, I guess you’re fine. However, the moment canon information about Wakaba’s wife is released—if any—be prepared to revise this section of Ene’s profile
Ene remembered that an S-Class mission at Fairy Tail was worth a lot of jewels (as told by her grandfather) and with her Magical Running Shoes, ran to Fairy Tail and wanted to take a S-Class mission. Makarov refused (since she’s still a child and not a part of Fairy Tail) and explained the rules of missions. So he offered her to become a “guest” to Natsu’s first mission. (The boy really wanted to do a mission when he heard Ene’s clarification.)
I love how Ene thought here. It totally seems like something a child would do! However, since she’s not part of Fairy Tail at this point in time, I don’t understand why Makarov would agree to let her be a “guest” to Natsu’s mission. If he knows that Ene could potentially be hurt, I don’t think he would allow this, especially if she’s not a member of the guild. What if she just followed Natsu instead to prove how powerful she was?
The mission went “well” (in Fairy Tail’s dictionary. It actually caused quite a havoc.), and Ene actually looked excited but tried to look skeptical. On the way home, Ene got lost in a crowd. She thought that she was going to be lost forever until in the evening, Natsu and Happy found her. They explained about the togetherness of Fairy Tail and that made her realize that not all things are the same.
After they got back, her mother got treated and recovered. She discussed with her mother that she wanted to join Fairy Tail. Her mother said okay without thinking twice, just like what she did with her ex-husband’s confession. And so, Ene becomes the new addition to the jolly guild.
Despite the fact that she’s already close with the guild, she hasn’t told anyone her past. Thinking that it would be too complicated for them to comprehend.
Ah, so she’s secretive. Not a bad trait, and one that can be very interesting to work with, especially with a guild like Fairy Tail. I’m excited to read about her relationships with some of the guild members.
Plot:
(Before 7YL is to be planned)
When the S-Class trial started, Ene stayed back at Fairy Tail to help out with her mother’s illness. And when she found out that the core members of Fairy Tail aren’t coming back anytime soon, Ene started to become depressed again. Two years later, Ene’s mother fought cancer and lost. And a year later, Ene got into an accident in a middle of a mission and both of her feet lost function. Her father comes and requests to help Ene rise back up on her feet (literally) by finding a magic that’ll heal her body part and both of them agree to keep in touch by letter.
Does cancer exist in the Fairy Tail universe? At this point, we really don’t know much about illness in the series, aside from motion sickness, maybe. I’m curious to know the details of the mission that put her in a wheelchair. It’s interesting that her father heard about it and acted the way he did. But I wonder—how did Ene react to her father’s return? I think it would make sense if their reunion began a little rocky, since Ene and her mother were the ones that moved away from her father. Does Ene have any repressed anger toward her father?
Magic and Abilities:
She discovered her magical affinity when she was twelve (Her mother’s incident). Ene mainly uses the Magical Running Shoes bought by her father. The pro is that it can be used to enchance the speed of your running. It is able to take you 60 km in one hour. The con is that it can be very expensive to buy. Ene uses it for:
Stonger kicks: She dashes a lot more quicker than others, then she jumps and kicks. Or, she uses the force on her shoe to kick a lot more harder. The kick becomes a lot more stronger but it can’t change the target after she starts to kick.
Fast movement: Because of the speed this shoes have, she can move as if she’s teleporting. The cons for this is that the scenery around her becomes blur and it might make her see harder. This is not teleportation.
Adding props: She sometimes adds another sole for the shoe that has spikes under it, making a kick a lot more damaging if the sole of the shoe is used.
She is also capable to use kicking melee attacks. After her first job, her mother bought her a guide to kicking martial arts and dummies used as practice toys. Her kicks are very strong. But her upper defense is non-existent. She tries to kick vital parts of the opponent, though it’s not rare that she’d miss because of miscalculation.
Training schedule: Ene is not the most hard-working, yet not the laziest person. She would take runs every weekday morning and would work with her kicks every Friday and weekend. Her morning run would last from 5.00 AM to 8.00 AM. She would start the first and a half hour without her running shoes and the last one and a half hour with her running shoes. Her running track is all around the town. She would train her kicks on the afternoon from 4.00 PM to 6.00 PM. She has 6 dummies and would kick each dummy for 20 minutes with some breaks and thinking.
I like this section! Her abilities are very well thought out! Excellent job!
Relationships:
Family
Melinda Gustav: Ene is very close to her mother. She loves Melinda as she has took care of her for as long as she can live, and she owes her so much. They have chats together and tell each-other about their days. Melinda is the only person where Ene can feel not awkward. Her mother feels like her child is the only one who can understand her suffering. Ene feels glad to have a mother who doesn’t constrict their child too much but still gives advices and guides her when she’s confused. It’s because Melinda actually had that experience as a child.
Ene was very broken after her mother died, but decides to move on after a motivation from her father. Every year, she visits her mother’s grave in order to remember her.
Norman Drusus: Before the divorce, Ene was close to her father too. Letting him teach her stuff that he likes and him giving her his Magical Running Shoes. Before she moved away from Magnolia, Ene was confused on how to interact with him for a while because she knew the truth. They meet every time he sends Ene and Melinda’s monthly payment and she treats him like a stranger. He feels quite tortured in the inside because of it, but thinks that he deserves that. After Ene’s mother died and he came to visit his former family, he saw his daughter in front of his wife’s grave and realized that she died. He felt confused on what to do and decides to leave the money inside the house and go home. A year later, he saw that his daughter was not walking with her feet anymore and decides to comfort her. She did not take that well. But he was the one who calmed her down too. It is shown that he still loves his daughter because he started searching for a mage to heal her feet. They agree to keep in touch since then and their relationship improved vastly after that.
Ah, okay. You answered my questions earlier about how Ene feels about her father. I like that she treated him like a stranger. It makes a lot of sense, given what happened to her and her mother. Great job. Her relationship with her mother sounds good, too.
Bingo Gustav: He liked to visit her and tell her stories about his previous adventures at Fairy Tail. She feels very inspired by him and knows several aspects about guilds from him, though she can misunderstand several stuff a little bit because he told her about those stuff when she was little (below the age of 12). Bingo tells the stories because he wants to inspire his grandchild to become a mage too, and it worked. Just like how it did with his daughter. Though his daughter joined another guild. When he died, she felt depressed for not having any known relatives anymore, because her other relatives are scattered all over Fiore.
I like that Bingo was her source of knowledge of guilds and magic. Grandparents love telling stories to young kids, and sometimes, kids misinterpret these stories or take them a little too seriously. You captured that well here.
Fairy Tail:
Wakaba Mine: He is the neighbor to the left side of her house. She likes him for the caring man she is, when she was little. But when she’s already old enough to be an older teen, she still felt like she was treated like a child and it makes her confused. She feels kind of glad because he sees him looking weirdly at girls when they are as old as her. The only thing that peeves her is that he’s scared of his wife, even though she actually loves him and is just… a little too overprotective. She is planning on getting them back together to prevent the same tragedy happening to his child.
Ahahaha, I really like this! You remembered that Wakaba is a bit of a flirt even though he’s married. Actually, I think it’s awesome that Ene even interacts with him since he’s a minor character.
Lucy Heartfilia: She is the neighbor from the right side of her house. When Ene first heard of the new member of Fairy Tail living at a big house, she was pretty surprised. Ene was a little bit afraid to interact with her because Lucy is one of the “big people” at Fairy Tail. She feels like Lucy might be destined to do something important, an influence from her action comics.
When she first interacted with Lucy, she felt a bit of disappointment (because big people at action comics acts uniquely). But she thinks that because Lucy is “sane”, she is unique. After hearing about her past, she feels for her but was a bit peeved hearing that she ran away. Though she is grateful about that decision, since Lucy was one of the person who helped her on the way to opening up.
Lucy feels that Ene was a quite different from the loud and jolly Fairy Tail members. But after finding out what Ene thinks about Lucy at first, she knows that Ene also has the quirk. But, Lucy finds Ene a nice person for telling stories with and sometimes, the girl would like to tell some stories (of her grandpa’s adventures and action comics’ stories) too. Though Lucy wished that Ene would open up a lot more.
I think this is pretty fair.
Natsu Dragneel: The two of them was quickly paired into a job after meeting. Natsu felt quite enthusiastic seeing the excitement of the girl when he saw her for the first time. But was confused when she quickly became shy at the job. He was worried about losing a guild member just after they joined and quickly searched for her. When she popped the question of companionship, he answered that question with no comas. Natsu’s answer is one of the reason why Ene joined Fairy Tail.
After the mission, they interacted less seeing that Ene wasn’t that trusting to him. But she was curious about the boy and tends to think about him and the words he said to her. Though she doesn’t say it, she admires his straight-forwardness and loyalty but acts as if she’s envious of him instead because she doesn’t know how to say it. Eventually, the feelings grew into a one-sided crush and she kept hold of it, remembering her parents situation.
When she started interacting with him again, she doesn’t know how to act because of embarrassment. Because she wants to act like how she was during their first job. Leading to awkward responses from the girl. Natsu keeps getting confused by the girl’s attitude towards him and gets frustrated by the fact that the she wouldn’t open up. Ene would feel a little bit confused by his frustration when he interacts with her.
This is also pretty fair. I especially love that Ene confuses Natsu with her actions, sometimes. I think that’s perfectly in character for Natsu!
Happy: Ene always misspells his name to the normal “happy” (Seeing that the original Fairy Tail manga is in Japanese, she misspelled his name to the normal Japanese word of “happy”) and Happy feels peeved about that. Happy is the first to notice the awkwardness between Ene and Natsu and asks her about it. After many times of pestering, Ene finally gave up and told him about her “jealousy” of Natsu.
After that, Happy felt like he was the knowing third friend (if you compare the misunderstanding to a school drama) and took pride of it, seeing that Ene is a very hard approachable person. Sometimes, Happy likes to tease Ene about it.
Makarov Dreyar: Makarov and her grandfather go way back as drinking buddies. So when Ene and her mother moved to Magnolia, he offered the mother to join Fairy Tail. To his disappointment, she refused. He was pretty surprised when the child came a few weeks later for a sudden S-Class job. (he almost said yes, until he remembered that she’s a child and not a mage.) After hearing the reason for the action, he allowed her to become a guest to Natsu’s first job. After Ene joined Fairy Tail, he learnt the news that his old friend is dead and was sad for it. Sometimes, he would ask Ene what he was doing after retiring. In which the girl would voluntarily tell him because she knows that the Master of the Fairy Tail guild could be trusted.
Her relationship with Happy sounds fine, and for the most part, her relationship with Makarov sounds good. Again, check the notes I wrote for her “history/past” for more of what I think about her relationship with Makarov.
Gray Fullbuster: She actually felt like she can relate to him, maybe. At first, she doesn’t really know him too well seeing as he is kind of quiet and cool (except when tormented by Natsu). But she thinks that he is how people look at her. Seeing that not many people knows his past. Heck, she doesn’t even know his past. So she decides that it’s karma for her being too introverted.
Erza Scarlet: When Ene saw Erza for the first time, she thinks that the older woman was a too intimidating and prefers not to get involved with her business. She thinks that Erza is the woman who should’ve been born as a guy. So she was pretty surprised when she found out that Erza has a girly side to her. A side of Erza that Ene admires is her toughness, mentally and physically.
Laxus Dreyar: Though Ene didn’t see Laxus that much, she didn’t appreciate his attitude towards his grandfather and wished that he was a lot more nicer to the other members of Fairy Tail. She preferred to avoid him if she sees him.
These seem fine as well. All right, you explained a little more about what Ene thinks of Laxus here and how she acts toward him. This is fine. I think it’s so funny that Ene thought Erza should have been born a guy xD Haha!
Other:
Naomi Mine: Ene and her mother is very close to Wakaba’s wife. She was the one who guided them around the city when they first moved. Despite the eccentric appearance, they appreciate the kindness and would sometimes lend an ear for the wife’s problems. The mother and daughter was grateful for Naomi’s daily check-up on her mother. When Naomi was getting suspicious of Wakaba getting attracted to someone else, Ene and Melinda tried to give her a better solution other than scaring him.
[I’m aware that the canon information about Wakaba’s wife isn’t existent. So you could think of it as a headcanon.]
((All right. Keep my earlier notes in mind from Ene’s “history/past” section. Remember that if any information about Wakaba’s wife is released, you may need to make some changes to Ene’s profile.))
Trivia:
Her statistics are:
Offense: 5/5 for her lower part of her body, 1/5 for her upper part. Overall, it’s 3/5.
Defense: 2.5/5
Speed: 5/5
Intelligence: 4/5
Awkwardness: 6/5
Oh wow, you included her stats! Like how Jason from the magazine provided the stats for the participants of the GMG! They seem fair enough and not overpowered, keeping her abilities in mind.
Ene knows a lot of life information from her comics.
She doesn’t actually mind action comics with a little spice of romance, though she’ll deny it if asked.
She doesn’t name her attacks. Finding it to be quite distracting for her.
She can finish a comic in a day, but she finishes a novel in three months.
Ene has never posed for the Sorcerer’s Magazine. But appeared in an article once.
[And that is it!! I hope it was well enough. Tell me if there’s something that needs to fixed or if something needs to be simplified. Sorry if there are several grammar mistakes since English’s not my local language. And thank you for reviewing!!]
I really like this OC! I’m very impressed with the time and effort you’ve spent developing her and writing about her. Use the notes I’ve written throughout this review as a reference. I don’t think there are any major changes that need to be made with Ene—just a few tiny things that are pretty easy to fix. Don’t worry, your English is fine! Thank you for sending her in, and I’m so sorry about the wait. She was very fun to review! -Gigi
Here's the article on the Magic Council and some of its associated jobs. This article is shorter than I thought it would be, probably because not much has been revealed about the Magic Council, its employees, and its military yet. However, I was able to think of a few pointers to include in this article, just in case you're interested in having an OC involved with the council in some way. I hope you will find something helpful.
The Council:
The purpose of the Magic Council is to govern the world of Magic in Fairy Tail. They are the overseers of guilds, particularly legal magic guilds.
There are ten total members of the Magic Council at a time, or ten seats, which rank in order from one to ten. The first seat is the chairman of the Magic Council. The Magic Council is reformed at the end of the Tower of Heaven Arc, and it seems that the members of the Council during this arc have left after the Council's reformation.
I don't suggest making an OC that is a member of the council. All 10 members of the Magic Council prior to its reformation are shown during the Tower of Heaven Arc in Chapter 79. Some of them are named. After the Council was reformed, all the new members are shown in chapter 200 of Fairy Tail. Creating a member of the Council would contradict the canon in that your OC would probably be there in the place of one of these members of the council that has been seen and confirmed to be there.
The Employees:
The Magic Council also have various employees--most notably guards, technicians (for Etherion), envoys, and messengers. However, these employees are all members of a race reminiscent of humanoid frogs that can talk and wear a specific uniform. Perhaps this plays off of the old stereotype of witches and wizards having toads as companions? :)
There has not been much information revealed about these employees yet--what exact race they belong to, where they come from, etc. I don't recommend making a guard, technician, envoy, or messenger for the Magic Council, unless your OC is a member of this froglike race. There have not been any human employees with these specific jobs seen as of yet in the series.
The Rune Knights:
The Magic Council also have a military, the Rune Knights. The Rune Knights serve as the Council's Enforcement and Investigation squad (enforcing ideals of the Council and investigating magic-related crimes), according to chapter 67. The Rune Knights are further divided into squadrons led by an officer, like the 4th Custody Enforcement Unit led by Lahar. It's implied that there are many squadrons of the Rune Knights, but Lahar and Doranbolt's squadrons have gotten the bulk of Rune Knight face time in the series.
If you are going to make an OC that's a Rune Knight, stick to the canon. The Rune Knights (both soldiers and ranked officers alike) have a uniform (a very modest and somewhat priestly-looking uniform), so your OC must conform to this. And by this, I mean that your OC MUST wear the EXACT uniform. Do not modify the uniform in any way, especially if you have a female character in the Rune Knights. Don't change the standard uniform to display cleavage, or change the colours of the uniform. The Rune Knights are a strict organization, so they probably will not tolerate anyone who doesn't conform to their rules.
Like with several other aspects of the Magic Council, not much has been revealed about the Rune Knights, such as all of their fighting methods. Some of the Rune Knights in Lahar's squadron were shown to use Justu Shiki (a type of Rune Magic which allows the user to create barriers with runes--pretty suiting for the RUNE Knights, amirite?). As you can imagine, Rune Knights are mainly proficient in melee combat with magical weapons (staffs), though at the moment, it has not been confirmed what kind of magic that staffs are used for, if any magic at all. It also appears that the Rune Knights are fairly average fighters: Natsu and Co. wiped the floor with several Rune Knights just before Jellal's arrest in chapter 163.
It would probably be difficult to create your own squadron of the Rune Knights, since there hasn't been much information given on the rest of the squadrons in the series. We don't even know how many divisions of Rune Knights there are! And if some of them specialize in certain tasks, then what would your created squadron specialize in--if anything? If you try to make your own squadron, you won't have much information to go on. Besides, we don't know if Mashima will later introduce new Squadrons which will have certain tasks. If more information about the Rune Knight Squadrons is revealed in the series later, use this information carefully if you really want to make your own squadron, and keep an open mind in case you have to rewrite something.
If you want an OC with a job somehow related to the Magic Council, your best bet would probably be a Rune Knight.
I've along the lines came up with the Cosmic Horror summoner. Rather than keys, the mage finds various pages for his/her Necronomicon and take be blood bounded. Unfortunately, further research dictated that Cthulhu was already overpowered elder squid that can never be controlled by man. But perhaps similar to stellar summoners. The mage can get into a contract with said God. But to gain more power is to gain more favor towards a particular Old One.
I.E: A mage gains more favor for Ammutseba, but doing so loses power from Yomagn'tho due to a personal feud between the two.
Or better yet, don't trifle the waters from the Lovecraftian universe. Too many tentacles may turn the series from fanservice to hentai.
I think this ability is really similar to Celestial Spirit magic and might undermine it with how you have it. All users of Celestial Spirit Magic, when summoning spirits, use keys. If you want to make this into a form of Celestial Spirit Magic, make sure your OC is using keys for summoning.
I wouldn't have the user of the magic make pacts with gods, since Cosmic Horror gods are probably different from the gods in the Fairy Tail universe. At this point in time, we don't really know anything about the gods in the series. We do know that God Slayer Magic exists for the purpose of slaying gods, but that's about it. I wouldn't go through with the favour idea, either. All Celestial Spirits seem to be equal in that they all form a pact with the user and the user uses them equally without gaining favour from one spirit or another. Besides, when a Celestial Spirit is summoned for battle purposes, the spirit is usually the one that does the fighting, rather than the user. So I don't see the need for a spirit to lend the user of such magic their power since the user isn't the one doing the fighting.
I don't think it would be a problem to make Celestial Spirits inspired by the creatures from the Lovecraftian universe, as long as you're not copying the exact characters and sticking them in Fairy Tail since those are characters from another copyrighted work.
Your comment about fanservice and hentai made me laugh, though :) I really hope this helped.
this question has always been in my mind : since second generation dragon slayers have lacrima... so can a first generation and second generation dragon slayer use the same element? ( both are fire dragon slayers for example )
It might be possible, but I wouldn’t do it. Having two Dragon Slayers that use the same element (and possibly in the same way) might get a little confusing, and you would probably undermine the uniqueness and abilities of the canon Dragon Slayers’ magic. For example, having a First-Generation Lightning Dragon Slayer would take some of the light away from Laxus. His powers wouldn’t be as unique anymore if there’s someone else who can pretty much use the exact same magic as he does. Besides, a First Generation Lightning Dragon Slayer would basically be using the exact same magic as Laxus, which is unique to the series.
i was thinking about an ice dragon slayer but i can't think of any good spell instead of "ice gods bellow" can you help me with good spells for an ice god slayer?
It looks like Ace answered a similar question over at the other blog: (link)
I pretty much agree with her and I’d recommend sticking to Dragon Slayer magic instead.
I’m sure you could definitely add “Ice Dragon’s Roar” to the list of spells. I think something involving ice or water bullets (projectile attacks) would be pretty neat. Punches and blasts involving the OC’s element would also be great! You could also consider having your OC attack with beams of their element (ice beam, water beam, etc.)
I also don’t think it would hurt to add “Ice Dragon’s Crushing Fang” and “Ice Dragon’s Wing Attack” to that list. Since some of the Dragon Slayers in canon have these attacks in common (like the Dragon Slayer’s Roar attacks), it’s possible that your OC might be able to use these as well. Though these two seem to be attacks that First Generation Dragon Slayers (and Rogue) use, which means they might have been taught these specific techniques by their dragon parent.
Is there such a thing as "barrier magic" in the FT-verse (or something similar to it)? I want to do something involving it and an OC of mine and I'd just like to know if there are already existing references in the series itself.
I know Jutsu Shiki can be used to create barriers by surrounding an area with magic runes. Jutsu Shiki is better for trapping people than for combat, though.
I also know that Wood Make and Ice Make can be used to create shields and walls for protection. If you had to choose between these two, I’d suggest using Wood Make in this case since there are so many Ice Make mages in canon already. Or you could create your own Molding Magic with a different element (as long as it’s a solid element).
Well since I named my character Topaz i thought about her using topaz gems. Now I'm all types of conflicted because I want to use Needle magic or gem make but I'm having a hard time choosing.
Topaz gems would be fine. In cases like this, I don’t feel like it would be right for me to choose your OC’s magic for you. Both would be interesting types of magic for an OC. Though I will say that there’s only one character in canon that uses Needle Magic right now, as opposed to several Molding Magic mages. I don’t know if this will influence your decision or not, though.
Hi everyone! One of the lovely mods from marysuefacepalm opened a new Fairy Tail OC Advice blog called fairytailocadvice. As a reminder, our blog will close sometime tomorrow morning or early afternoon, so feel free to direct your questions to them afterwards.
How do you feel about a new magic like Gem make magic? All it would be like using Gems to make weapons and shields much like how Ice- Make and wood-make is used.
It can work since gems are solid like ice and wood. I’d suggest choosing one specific type of gem, maybe?
Here's the tip on Rogue Cheney. Like with the Sting article, this one will focus on Rogue before the GMG. Hope it helps.
Rogue is reserved. Between him and Sting, he is the quieter one. Generally, he maintains a calm air. He doesn't really show his emotions or wear them on his sleeve. When told several times that Natsu and Gajeel would be participating in the GMG, he didn't lose his calm composure and become excited--he said he didn't care. Like Sting, not much fazes him at all. In fact, when something doesn't faze him, he seems to be bored by it.
I highly doubt he would be interested in a hyperactive person, or someone who is overly energetic or goofy. In a relationship, I think he would be fairly calm and he would like someone who isn't annoying or childish. Don't expect him to be very open about his feelings to a significant other. Since he is reserved and chooses not to express much emotion at all, an OC who is understanding of others' feelings might be a better match for him.
Rogue values comrades, like Sting. Although a member of Sabertooth (and one of their strongest), he doesn't always seem to agree with the way things work in his guild. When Yukino was excommunicated from Sabertooth, he questioned Jiemma's actions toward her. He even told Sting that, even though she lost, Yukino was still their comrade. After Natsu breaks into Sabertooth's lodgings at the GMG, Rogue realizes that there is a severe lack of camaraderie within his guild.
In my opinion, Rogue is a little more caring toward his guild mates than Sting, with a slightly better understanding of how to treat others well before the GMG than his fellow Dragon Slayer. However, like Sting, I don't think he understands friendship too well at first. He admits that Sabertooth doesn't understand the concept of friendship and implies that he doesn't have friends. He is subsequently yelled at by Gajeel for not considering Frosch his friend, and then, Rogue reaffirms that Frosch IS his friend. At the end of the final GMG event, Rogue expresses his desire to become a man who cares for his friends. Like with Sting, if Rogue doesn't understand friendship very well at first, he may not understand how a romantic relationship works before his development at the GMG.
There's a possibility that Rogue might be a little more tolerant of a significant other if they're not the strongest around. But since Rogue is a member of Sabertooth, he must value strength to some extent. Even though he didn't want to openly admit it, he was very interested in fighting Gajeel at the GMG. Since Gajeel is pretty strong, it's safe to say that it would probably be a good idea for your OC to be somewhat strong. This way, Rogue won't be bored.
Rogue is kind. This is an unusual trait for a member of Sabertooth. He doesn't seem to be very violent and sadistic like many members of his guild. Instead of joining his guild mates in laughing at Lucy as she was pummeled by Minerva, he watched quietly with a stern expression. While Yukino was humiliated and stripped, he looked away. When Frosch worried that it wasn't strong enough to be in Sabertooth, Rogue smiled gently and told Frosch not to worry, and that Frosch would be fine as long as he was there. Rogue would probably be a caring boyfriend who would be there to protect his significant other and gently comfort them if they're hurting.
Rogue is also pretty goal-oriented, so a relationship might not be his top priority. Remember, his goal was to fight and beat Gajeel during the GMG, and he didn't really care about anything else. If an OC hung around him and they didn't bug him or interfere with his goals, I don't think he'd care too much. He might literally give the impression of not caring with how reserved he is.
It's also important to keep in mind that Rogue has been possessed by his own shadow during the GMG. While possessed, he becomes cruel and sadistic. Rogue doesn't seem to remember anything after being possessed by "Shadow," as seen after his battle with Gajeel during the GMG. This "Shadow" is apparently a darkness that surrounds his heart--or an evil that stains it--and represents another possible future. While possessed by this shadow, Rogue becomes very powerful and has the capability to kill if he wants to. Your OC would probably be in danger if they are around Rogue while he's possessed by "Shadow." This is another reason why your OC should have decent strength: so they can defend themselves if they ever encounter Rogue in "Shadow Mode."
Also, don't forget about "Future Rogue." Cynical, heartless, sadistic, and self-centered--pretty much the opposite of present Rogue. Future Rogue is willing to do whatever possible to get his way, even if it means killing. I highly doubt Future Rogue would want to be tied down with a romantic relationship. In my opinion, it would get in the way of his goal of taking over the world and becoming King. Future Rogue would probably drop your OC like a hot potato because they would interfere with his plans of world domination.
If you want to pair your OC with Rogue, remember to keep him as in-character as possible, and be ready to change your OC to fit canon as the series updates. At this point, it's hard to say what's going to happen with present Rogue. Keep an open mind and you'll be fine.
Hello! C: I'm making a Fairy tail oc who is an Ice wizard, but I'm stuck on her last name! Her first name is Anelie, but I can't chose between Rominski or Romero. What do you think?
I’d go with Rominski since “Romeo” is a form of “Romero” and there’s a character named Romeo in the series :) I love the name Anelie!
I was trying to think of a type of magic my oc could use and I figured, why not Creation magic. Gray did say that it was the most versatile. So is it possible to have my oc's creation magic make crystals? I had other ideas in mind but they're too complicated for me to sort out right now. I thought I might as well ask you guys on the very basic one I have right now. :) [if anything, think of Guren's Crystal Release from Naruto]
Crystal Make (for Creation/Molding magic) could work since it’s a solid element :)
I actually know next to nothing about Naruto, so I had to go look up Guren’s Crystal Release. Make sure you don’t copy this ability exactly since it’s unique to a character from another series (don’t have your OC create crystal shuriken and a crystal dragon to ride on, for example). Users of Molding Magic still have to create their element, and then they make things out of it. They don’t really manipulate their element found in their surroundings. Your OC probably wouldn’t be able to crystallize moisture in the air like Guren from Naruto. Remember that Molding Magic involves creating objects made of their element, rather than manipulating their element from their surroundings.
If your OC uses Crystal Make, make sure they use it in a unique way. The items a mage can make with Molding Magic will vary based on the user’s personality, according to Ur in Chapter 37.
Hi, I'm new and currently an anon here but I'm making an account soon enough ^^. I am having an OC and I don't know if her name sounds weird or not, please help me. Her name is Caida, but I'm confused on her last name. What is your opinion on her last name? And first I wanted to make her an illusionist but that magic seems to common here. Is there a similar magic with the same dark tone?
Caida sounds fine for a name :) I’m not quite sure what you have in mind for a last name. Are you looking for something generic, or something with meaning to your OC? Maybe a name that represents an aspect of her personality? Her powers? We have an article about naming your OC here: (link). You have a lot of freedom with last names, as mentioned in the article toward the end. If I need help with names for any of my OCs, I generally browse 20000-names.com and pick something from there or create a name derived from something I found there.
It’s kind of hard to make an OC’s magic unique sometimes, isn’t it? A lot of OC creators may have the same ideas. Don’t be afraid to make her an illusion mage if that’s originally what you wanted! I don’t believe there’s any sort of dark version of illusion magic, though.
