Summary: You and Peter are best friends, just friends. So how could one night have you questioning your friendship?
A/N: This was the first Peter fic I ever wrote so it kinda sucks but i hope you enjoy regardless.
You’ve been Peter Parker’s best friend since you moved into the apartment above his 5 years ago. Many people had questioned your relationship thinking you two were actually dating, but you weren’t. You were simply just friends. You two just didn’t feel that way about each other.
So, why were you here, staring at your ceiling in the middle of the night, with only thoughts of Peter?
The answer was simple, your best friend Peter Parker had almost kissed you only hours before.
You continued to stare at your ceiling as you replayed the scene over and over again in your head.
You were laying down on one side of Peter’s bed, your head towards the footboard, playing on your phone. While Peter was leaning against the headboard doing homework.
You let out a long sigh for what felt like the hundredth time in the past 5 minutes. “Peter, I’m boooooored,”
“I know, but I gotta finish my homework first.”
“Can’t you do it later, we never get to hang out anymore with your internship.” You groaned.
“Fine. Just let me finish this page.”
“Okay!” You said happily.
You continued playing on your phone until Peter finished.
“Okay there.” Peter placed his books on the ground next to his bed. “What did you want to do?”
“I don’t know, how bout we just talk.”
“Well,” You said sitting up. “What’s the deal with the whole Liz situation now?”
He sighed, “I’m still upset, but I’m pretty much over her.”
“Makes sense, you did have a crush on her since last year. At least you know she was interested in you.”
“I guess so, what about you, have any crushes yet?”
You scoffed, “Of course not. The guys at our school suck and I’m not social enough to go out and meet any one.”
“Doesn't Mike from marching band have a crush on you. He’s not a bad choice.”
“No definitely not him, he’s creepy. Like he stares at me all the time and it’s not in the cute way like when you would stare at Liz. He asked me out last week by the way.”
“Seriously? And you didn’t tell me?”
“Well you would know if you didn’t quit marching band.” You said leaning over and flicking his nose.
Peter rubbed it, “Hey! You know I had to quit with-”
“Yeah, yeah, I know, the Stark internship. Anyway Mike asked me after the football game last Friday. I think he cried after I said no.”
Peter burst out laughing, “Oh my god, you made Mike cry?”
“Yeah, I feel bad I dunno why he liked me so much anyway.”
“Yeah I have no idea either.” You smacked his arm. “I’m kidding! He probably liked you cause you’re nice.”
“If that’s all you have to do to get someone to like you, why am I still single?”
“I thought that didn’t bother you?”
“It doesnt, but sometimes it’s just nice to know people like you y'know?”
“What are you talking about,” Peter looked at you incredulously, “You always have someone crushing on you.”
You looked back at him with the same expression, “What are you talking about?"
"Guys are crazy about you, I can name like 5 guys that either have a crush on you or find you really attractive.”
“People find me attractive?”
“Of course! You’re kind and smart.” Peter counted on his fingers, “You’re great I’m not surprised so many guys like you. You’re also really funny and talented and…” He trailed off and made eye contact with you. He cleared his throat, “You’re actually really p-pretty too.” You stared at each other for a few seconds, the air becoming tense between the two of you.
“Y-you think I’m p-pretty?” You asked feeling a blush rise up your neck to your cheeks.
“O-of course you’re one of the prettiest girls I’ve ever met.” You looked down to try and hide your bright red face.
Peter hesitated before shifting closer. “You’re also understanding, you always put you’re friends first, you’re honest…” You’re breath hitched and you both unconciously leaned in. “You’re determined and creative.” He said quietly. “Passionate…” Your noses were now touching and it was harder to breathe. Peter’s eyes flickered down to your lips, “…You’re a really beautiful girl.” He whispered. You leaned up slightly so your lips were almost touching, but they barely brushed each other before Peter’s bedroom door was swung open revealing Aunt May looking down at a menu.
You and Peter separated from each other quickly, “So, kids did you want pizza tonight or Thai?” She looked up, “What happened to you two?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.
You cleared your throat, “Nothing, I, um, promised my parents I’d eat dinner with them tonight.”
“Oh, okay, then what about you Peter? Pizza or Thai?”
“Alright, sounds good.” She said before leaving.
You cleared your throat again, “Well, I better go, it’s getting kind of late.” You said without looking at Peter.
You quickly grabbed your bag and climbed out of Peter’s window onto the fire escape to get to your apartment.
You sighed still staring at your bedroom ceiling, questioning these new feelings you had for your best friend.
