I appreciate the clip of Anthony Mackie expressing his shock at the Dr. Doom announcement is trending. At that time, too many Marvel "fans" laughed about nobody caring for Sam Wilson, and Anthony was bitter that RDJ is popular. Now it's seen for what it truly is: a black man letting out a little frustration. His moment was overshadowed by a man he had hung out with the day prior, but did not give a heads-up to. Fans of color knew the writing on the wall.
Most importantly, Sam fans were called all types of shit for a long time; they were right. Some Sam fans on here were absolutely accurate in their assessment of the way the Marvel fandom was moving and Marvel's push to superwhiteness. I wish I remembered everything they said but I do know one: @jemgirl86 "whatever Doomsday turns out to be and they do right by Sam, I will never forget how this fandom treated black Sam fans".
How are we getting an Avengers movie, not one trailer featured the Avengers?
uh do u guys know that it is possible to stand up for sam wilson's mistreatment in the mcu without disproportionately shitting on his movie? it's important that u know that
Sam had never truly regretted insisting that they purchase an old house, a place with history, a place with a ton of character; frankly, a place that would be reminiscent of the home he’d grown up in down in Delacroix. Older houses were great, even if they could end up being a pain in the butt sometimes — like when they’d decided to put in all new windows not even a year after they’d moved in to cut down on the draft and the gas bill, or when they’d been forced to replace a good chunk of the pipes a few years back. However, even on those costly occasions, regret wasn’t a word he ever would’ve used.
Right now though, when Sam was trying his damnedest to sneak out of the house undetected, and the old wooden staircase he’d refused to part with when they were deciding what to update and what to keep, insisted on practically singing like a canary, well, regret was the only word that came to mind. The stairs were sturdy, probably more solid and safer than any staircase found in any of the cookie cutter new builds some company was throwing up a couple of blocks over, but unfortunately for Sam they were also creaky as hell, and absolutely not designed for creeping around unnoticed. And while that was all well and good when it came to making sure their baby girl never got past them back when she was a curious toddler, and even now when she was a sometimes too curious and adventurous teenager, they weren’t doing Sam any favors when he was trying to put one over on his far too observant husband.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Bucky asked, having made it to the bottom of the stairs even before Sam did.
“Nowhere,” he tried, lamely.
“Sure doesn’t look like nowhere,” Bucky replied, using the wooden spoon he was wielding to point at Sam’s ridiculously puffy coat.
Sam sighed, then stepped off the last step. “I was just going to pick up a few things.”
“Mmm hmm, like what?”
“Some eggs, and more butter. We’re a little low on buttermilk too.”
“And,” Bucky prompted, clearly not convinced that a quick trip to the nearest grocery store was all Sam had in mind.
“And, since I was gonna be out that way anyway, I figured I could swing by the mall.”
New spin everybody- in addition to saying Doomsday sidelining Sam is blatantly racist, we're also just going to start saying it's homophobic. And post a whole bunch of screenshots and think pieces about Sam having Riley's flag in his office. (I am fully aware this would not work but let me dream)

You liked Sam just fine while you could perceive him as nothing more than a white man's sidekick. now that he finally gets to be in a strong lead and he's the same witty, snarky character with the same morals, the same calm demeanor, the same presence, the same tactical mindset, but with MORE to him than one liners and being "the sidekick"... you mysteriously don't like him anymore.
truly, how weird. how strange.
The funny thing is that Mackie works with the writers to keep Sam CONSISTENT. meaning unlike some other characters whose values and sometimes even character traits fluctuate from project to project, Sam has a consistency that we don't see in all other characters. but that also means the arguments that he's "boring now" are nonsense. he's the same he was before - he just got more three dimensional, gets to express more emotions, gets to develop other relationships. with peope who aren't white.
And because I’m trying to make a lemonade out of these lemon, who is going to post the verry messy SamSteve story post Steve losing his wife and kid and post SamBucky breakup as Steve?
