Wait.
Slade shrugged and brushed a hand along the horse’s body anxiously. “Don’t worry about it, Faline.” He turned and watched her gently handle the animal. It snorted at her touch. He ignored the question. “You’ve always been so good with the horses. They’ll spook with me sometimes, but never with you.”
"I do worry .. which is why I ask. You're important you know. " She spoke plain, looking at him with wide, soft eyes, but turning her attention back to the horse as it snorted, cooing and talking to it in hushed tones. The smile that lit her features was reserves purely for the creatures she tended to. "I dont know .. I prefer them to people so. They understand so much more and have no words to ruin it. You're with them too ... I suppose it's just an instinct thing."
"Just to talk. I haven’t got someone to talk to."
Her face fell, watching his own fall in to a sadness and his eyes drop to the floor. “I’m always here to talk Lucian … you know that.” She movedm to brush his arm. “Come on, lets get a drink and we can catch up.”
"Well, we wouldn’t want that."
Raising an eyebrow, she smirked at him. “Well how come you’re up here then sassy?”
Wait.
Slade sighed, bringing the horse to a stop before Faline. He stroked its neck. “I’m sorry, it’s been a long day. I didn’t mean to speak so unpleasantly.”
Fae wrinkled her nose, the guilt spreading over her as she slid from her seat on the fence, looking up at Slade. "It's fine .. I should've thought before I spoke too .. " Brow furrowing she reached out, stroking the horses nose lightly. "How're you coping Slade? .. honestly now."

Astrid and Hunter.
Glóin.
Wait.
I’ll be with you in just a moment.
"God fine .. not like I can't do it myself anyway" Fae rolled her eyes sarcastically. All she'd asked for was a little help moving Glóin, he was a little too much for her today.
A chuckle resonated deep in Nate’s chest as she exclaimed and tried her hand at assault for the act. “Are you going to abuse me now, Fae? Because I scared you?” he chortled, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “I missed you.”
"Yes! You deserve it." She grinned, leaning her head against his chest as he curled an arm around her. "I missed you too ya big lump. I'm sorry .. I just needed some time away." Looking up at him, her smile faltered, a worried expression taking over. "I've not been well I suppose, headaches and all .. everything's been a bit too much." She shook her head, laughing. "It's good though."
"Jumpy, Fae?"
"Fucksake Nate!" She called, laughing as she turned to face him and sticking her tongue out impishly. One hand went to smoother her hair, the other stading a decent swipe at his shoulder for scaring her. "Lucky I didnt whack you with something .. though on second thoughts"
Forgive me. I did not mean to.
Waving a hand, Faline grinned, brushing the apology away. "No, no it's fine .. just shook me up a little .. lucky I didn't clock you one or something."
"I tread lightly."
Fae smirked slightly, lifting an eyebrow. "That I can tell ... can I help you stranger? Long time no see."
Gods alive ... you startled me there.
Faline Hartley | Age: 25 | Job: Caretaker at the Van Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre | FC: Evangeline Lilly | TAKEN
Biography: As a child, Faline was always tottering along after the farmhands at the Sulzbach stables, nipping at the heels of the grownups hoping to try her hand at caring for the horses ten times her size. That was, of course, when she wasn’t following along after her mother or playing with some wild animal that had taken a shine to her.
Faline had all types of pets when she was young, crows fallen from their nests, fawns abandoned by their mothers, really anything you could think of and this has carried over into her adult life. Fortunately, she has been able to keep the creatures out of her home (mostly) by instead caring for them at the Rehabilitation Centre.
Like all things, there is a dark side to Faline’s consistent desire to care for broken animals. More than a few have been lost in her care by no fault other than life’s perpetual circle. This has caused her to be somewhat brutal and unforgivingly realistic about life seeing as she has seen, first hand, how cruel life can be even to those pure and innocent.
Mannerisms: Faline grew up mixing the knowledge of the wild with the rules of the Steel Jungle that is the city. So while she does love the people of the city, she doesn’t understand how people can be so impractical about everything. She’s capricious, yet composed; both a trickster and a steady hand. No matter what pranks she may pull she’s a firm friend in times of need.
