Took about a month between life and time in general. When I realized I was at the end of the story, I wanted to finish this to accompany it. Like close the fuckin' book, figuratively.

Started with just randomly sketching Flambae while hungover on the bunk watching World Cup games... it wasn’t anything and then suddenly it was. There's a fun OC villain (designed with my kiddo!) and then there was resisting every.single.urge to draw Robert like an anime character and instead make him look more like his game-canon self. Tbh I found that dead boring, but he’s still pretty. And then the mech…

I'd wanted to draw the Mecha Man unit from the second I first played the game, but it was always so fuckin' intimidating. Channeled all my inner wee-boy-watching-Gundam energy into it. No sure I want to devote that effort again anytime soon, but the door isn’t closed.

blob colours and scratches and blurred bullshit make the bk. Just played with the clouds brush a lot and smudged the fuck outta it.

It's been about 1.5 years since I published the first chapter and Rookie was my first ever fanfic 🥹 It started as a self-indulgent little story where I just wanted to flesh out my Rook and Viago's backstory... and it spiralled out of control into a landslide 61 chapters covering the events of the whole game!

I've learned so much writing every chapter and trying to re-imagine the Lucanis romance & all the other Crow events. I was posting weekly for months at one point and it absolutely consumed my life. But I don't regret a single second because I've fallen in love with writing again along the way, and with this story and these characters.

So thank you for reading a whopping 470k word fic! Thank you for every comment! Thank you for every second you've spent with me on this journey! And though Rookie may have ended for now, her journey isn't over yet ;)

Imagine if you will, that since Flambae is doing so well, he's able to be sent out of city/state to do hero work. He texts Robert about how much he misses him, saying that he wishes he was home so he can cuddle Robert to sleep. Robert mentions that he's not completely alone, and he has a good cuddle buddy to help keep him warm. Flambae assumes that Robert means Beef, and asks for a picture of Robert and his cuddle buddy.
