Once my Girl Scout troop was visiting a nature center, and there was a little tank full of turtles and a single tiny tree frog, and I said “should they be housed together” and the naturalist said it was fine and I said “okay.” And then being a child, I reached in to touch the tiny frog, because of course I had to, and the frog hopped into the water, where by all rights it should be able to go in its own tank, and a turtle IMMEDIATELY ate it in front of the entire Girl Scout troop and we all screamed and the naturalist was like “WELP” and 18 years later I worked for a summer at that very nature center and we did Not house the turtles with the frogs so. My impact.
Mcgonagall: gets Harry an expensive racing broom
Also Mcgonagall: that wand needs replacing, Weasley
Whoa there!
Shitpost or not, we do not come after Professor McGonagall on this planet.
It was the best thing a teacher could do in either situation.
You’ve got an abused boy who has never had anything other than the spiders in his cupboard, he is grasping at every new, amazing, thing he finds because it’s all so wonderful? You give him a new, amazing, thing.
You have a boy who grew up in a household where family comes first, where humbleness is key, where taking handouts is seen as embarrassing? You remind that boy that he needs to find a way to replace his broken school supplies and then you sit back and do nothing because you know the family will sort itself out, it always does, and to interfere would be an insult on that perseverance and the family as a whole.
Harry was ecstatic to receive the broom. Ron would have been mortified if his teacher gave him a wand (and so would the rest of the Weasleys).
That’s how you teach.
Not just by knowing which of your kids needs something but by knowing which of your kids will accept something when you give it to them.
WE DO NOT COME AFTER PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL ON THIS PLANET.
this is a little bit of bullshit
actually this is a lot of bullshit
They’re in Hogwarts. Harry has everything now. Money, fame, attention, support. He’s the rich, upper middle class kid. He can afford anything now.
Don’t romanticize struggling families like there’s some higher dignitiy/honor in barely scrapping by. “Oh, wow, they’re so persevering, they always figure it out!” That’s bullshit.
Just give the kid a fucking wand.

Any advice for how to keep a game group going? Maintaining momentum and interest in the games I mean. Or basic setup or whatnot. Any advice is appreciated.
It can be hard to keep groups going. My advice is to ask players what they want to do in your campaign, if it’s an issue of staying interested. It might also be a matter of pacing- campaigns that are dragged out tend to be less interesting.
Otherwise, try to have a scheduled time every week so that people expect when sessions will be.
If I might add: you can’t do it, it’s not your fault. game groups grow apart and that’s something we go through as tabletop rpg players.
I just realized that the spell Blink in 5e D&D has a semantic component. you know what that means. You can do this
you mean a somatic component?
