I wanted to say that August was one year since the cousins all stayed at our house. Since those magical nights when we were fancy at a rooftop bar and got tipsy at a vineyard, stopped for late night Taziki's before making the drive home.
I wanted to say it's been a year since Kyle and I decided we were entering our 'party era' (which didn't last long, but it made me feel young and free).
I wanted to say August was when we should have had a baby. (It wasn't, but close enough.)
The fall is always a strange time for me in some ways, but I think this year is a little extra.
Maybe there are pieces of me that need resurrecting.

not enough secret gardens and hidden passageways and bookshelves that open to a mysterious library these days. get working on that girls.
“Be confused, it’s where you begin to learn new things. Be broken, it’s where you begin to heal. Be frustrated, it’s where you start to make more authentic decisions. Be sad, because if we are brave enough we can hear our heart’s wisdom through it. Be whatever you are right now. No more hiding. You are worthy, always.”
— S.C. Lourie
calling my lover "mine" but not in the way that my toothbrush or notebook are mine, mine in the way my neighborhood is mine, and also everybody else's, "mine" like mine to tend to, mine to care for, mine to love. "mine" not like possession but devotion.
