for sheer economy you can do no better than "Born of Man and Woman" by Richard Matheson, which is literally less than two goddamn pages

"It's a Good Life" by Jerome Bixby (famously adapted into the Twilight Zone episode of the same name)

"The Screwfly Solution" by Alice Sheldon (better known under the penname James Tiptree Jr)

"-- All You Zombies--" by Robert Heinlein (just go into this one blind, I promise you)

"Go Starless in the Night" by my personal GOAT, Roger Zelazny

the main thing that made me hate anormativity and realise it existed was how romantised cuddles are. Dude the best sleep ive had in my life has been falling asleep hugging one of my best friends with my face stuffed into her hair.
