Well if we look at it this way and ignore the fact that studies go trough peer review and all that SCIENCE stuff... McDonalds alone makes ~ 30 billion a year in US only. Also ever heard about the corn lobby in the us and why all your food is pumped full of that high fructose corn syrupy goodness?

Americans eat tremendous amounts of fast food and typically eat it in huge amounts. Americans are also among the most obese in the world. I'm not saying this is a direct connection (though it probably sure as hell is) I'm just reminding that you can't ignore a huge societal issue by throwing out income of companies that are either trying to help to fix it or are cashing in on it.
