You know when I was a teen with braces my chemistry teacher told me that she stopped wearing her retainer because she would take it off in her sleep and throw it across the room every night and I remember thinking yeah right that’ll never happen to me

On the topic of retainers, how long are you actually supposed to wear them? I got mine after having braces when I was 14, and my orthodontist said that I should “wear it every night until you’re 30, because at that point your future husband won’t care about you having wonky teeth,” and I’m still not sure if that means I should continue wearing it past 30 or not.

I do remember finding the statement gross and confusing at the time, because a) who says I’ll be married when I’m 30, b) who says I’ll be married to a man, c) why would I be making medical decisions based on a nonexistent husband, and d) who says that to a 14 year old?

he buys her the softest cat bed. she likes to sleep on whatever clothes are laying on the floor instead.

he buys- and assembles!- the best cat tree on the market, only for her to be fascinated by its box instead.

sylus is stumped- until he's at your place when a new pair of shoes he ordered for you arrives, and you stop to play with the bubble wrap instead of going straight for the shoes, and he finally realizes where your cat learned it from.
