Okay, so I know this is an extremely niche ask, but I've gotten really into this clip from a special performance of Elisabeth for deaf and hard-of-hearing musical theatre fans in Essen in 2002:

Since then, I've been trying to find the two other videos that I know exist from this performance (thumbnails shown below); one of Maike Boerdam and Jesper Tyden rehearsing "Der Schleier fällt" and the other of the final bows. Unfortunately, the website that it came from shut down in 2018, and although it is on the Internet Archive, the links for the videos were not archived, so all I have are these thumbnails:

If anyone has these videos downloaded, or knows where I can find them, please let me know. As a hard-of-hearing musical theatre fan, I really try to find any scraps of information on mainstream musicals made accessible for the Deaf community, and I was so excited when I heard that Elisabeth (one of my all-time favorite musicals) had done a performance involving sign in any capacity!

If I can't find something on Youtube I always check VK first and then bilibili. I follow a lot of people and groups on VK that post musical clips and just searched 'maike jesper' and they came up. All uploaded to VK by allazinovieva.

Durch generative KI geht uns eine ganz bestimmte Kunstform verloren: "beschissene" Flyer für irgendwelche Events. Ich bin todernst mit euch. Lieber habe ich irgendwas von einem "IT" Ingo (der diesen Spitznamen auch nur hat, weil er im Dorf der einzige mit einem PC ist) der sich halt ein bisschen "austobt" und ein Ergebnis abliefert, das aussieht als hätte jemand einen Regenbogen draufgedurchfallt, als so ein KI-Bild. In eins ist Arbeit reingeflossen und es hat eine Seele, das andere ist realsprech einfach für die Tonne. Und idk irgendwie bin ich auch sehr nostalgisch für diese Art Flyer!

I have been a sheep caretaker for like two days and already I'm like. Wow. I get it.

I get why these were some of the earliest mammals to ever be domesticated. They look up to humans with this sort of dumb but all at once innocent and pure and trusting expression. They're happy to see you. They follow you around. They like to be rubbed under their chins. Maybe its just some latent Scottish highland shepherd DNA I still have in me but I look at my sheep charges and suddenly I see why the love of God for humanity is so often described as a shepherd and his sheep. I'd fight a wolf for these guys. I'd go way the Hell out of my way for them. I'd carry their young for miles on my own back.

On the topic of retainers, how long are you actually supposed to wear them? I got mine after having braces when I was 14, and my orthodontist said that I should “wear it every night until you’re 30, because at that point your future husband won’t care about you having wonky teeth,” and I’m still not sure if that means I should continue wearing it past 30 or not.

I do remember finding the statement gross and confusing at the time, because a) who says I’ll be married when I’m 30, b) who says I’ll be married to a man, c) why would I be making medical decisions based on a nonexistent husband, and d) who says that to a 14 year old?

I’ve been studying Alaskan newspaper archives and I just stumbled across the record of a man who abandoned his family in Washington around 1905 and lived another 30 years in a cabin along the Yukon River in Alaska with them assuming he had died around the time he left for Alaska. Dude was just sitting in a cabin in the middle of nowhere for 30 years avoiding his wife and 4 kids. No divorce, no gold panning money mailed home. And his wife didn’t even divorce him for abandonment or have him declared dead for insurance purposes. So curious if he was like “This isn’t working out, I’m going somewhere far away.” and she was like “Alright, understood.” or if he left and she couldn’t be arsed to deal with the paperwork.

this reminds me of my friend who was doing historical research & found a series of articles in the newspaper over several years in which:

a man decided to commit his wife to the asylum (because a husband’s word was enough to be committed back then)

man married a second woman

man divorced second woman

man gets the first wife back from the asylum

recommits her to the asylum a few years later

marries third woman

third woman commits suicide

the newspaper’s comment on all of this was that “some men just have bad luck with women”. I’m not sure he’s the one with the bad luck here, buddy.
