I didn't want to make this post because I left the fandom ages ago but I know others have talked about it but the glee or maybe the silent acceptance of an abundance of ai created videos of the Supercorp ship kissing has just been too hard to ignore.
I'm aware there's no way to police stupidity. People are going to use a.i. to write terrible fics because, of course they are. That's where we’re at on this thrillride through hell. That's bad enough that people either don't want to think, put in the effort or find some dopamine rush from taking credit for something they didn’t do.
Using ai to create nonconsensual media of anybody is gross as fuck. You should be ashamed of yourselves. But to purport to then be a fan of the characters or the ship or the actors themselves and then like or create that? Fucking vile. And I don't care if it's ‘just kissing’ IT. IS. NONCONSENSUAL.
I don't care that your ship didn't become canon or that you were queerbaited. You are not owed restitution. You are not given a pass to do something so violating to get some cheap thrill.
The amount of people I've seen in the likes of those posts or leaving some stupid fucking comment like: “I know it's wrong but it's so cute!
Give me a fucking break. I debated making this an actual call-out post because I've seen plenty of people in the likes that are both vehemently anti-a.i. and are HUGE fans of the actresses and yet treat them like Twitter chuds.
You're disgusting.
some people don't seem to realise that Glinda and Elphaba's relationship is meant to show how Glinda wasn't willing to leave her social position to stand against injustice, even when it was against those who she loved.
Like yes doomed yuri but its doomed because Glinda chose her comfort over systemic change while Elphaba chose to sacrifice her safety for others freedom.
Hey this is your not-so-friendly Fandom Grandma Reminder:
It isn't a "straight ship" unless both people in it are straight.
At a minimum, movie canon Fiyero is not straight. If you're a gelphie shipper, then presumably you believe Elphaba isn't straight either. So can we fucking stop with labeling fiyeraba "the straight ship"?
You don't have to like the ship, but stop being a biphobic asshole. Other queer people in the fandom see you and it sucks.
okay well, im going to try to say this as friendly as i can....
you're talking about a ship that is between a cis man and woman in a movie where it was never explicitly confirmed anyone is queer (maybe pfannee- but even his actor has talked about assuming fiyero was flirty bc it was part of his schtick in the past). headcanons are one thing, but fiyero being flirty in DTL did clearly pass over many peoples heads. so them using "straight" might genuinely be bc thats how they interpreted it.
not only that, but saying "you dont have to like the ship" feels as tho ur targeting gelphie shippers, not just addressing the general audience. a lot of the queer folk in the gelphie community have very valid concerns about the way people have tossed around the word biphobic and might be sensitive to such (as it has often been weaponized against gelphie shippers or used as a 'get out of jail free card' by those who are against wlw shipping but dont want to be called homophobic for picking on gelphie shippers). this is a very real conversation-- equally as valid and concerning as a conversation that could be had about there being actual biphobia in the fandom (bc i wont dismiss your concern. i hear what ur saying. its the delivery im addressing)
there is also....to be perfectly honest....just plenty of folks who may genuinely not realize the difference in saying f/m vs straight for a ship btwn a man and a woman (esp bc they often call gliyero straight too) and may have appreciated being educated instead of scolded for bad intentions they do not have. you may be a "fandom grandma" -- but not everyone's been around so long or may know as much about what is and is not hurtful. its really hard to make this fandom seem accepting when no one is willing to be friendly.
immediately jumping straight to "you're all biphobic assholes" seems....rather discouraging of actual education and more encouraging of furthering the divide and conflict btwn these ships. i understand you may feel frustrated or hurt, i empathize with that and know it may have led to a frustrated post, but you're talking to people who have also been frustrated and hurt.
i also understand and respect the point you are trying to make....just maybe next time try and remember that the movie brought in a LOT of new folks who may not have been around long or gone deep enough to realize the impact of saying fiyeraba is a "straight ship."
~ signed sincerely, a bisexual woman who has long held respect for all three main ships
Perhaps look back through my psa tag and how long I've been begging this of people before you assume I jumped directly here.
- signed, an ace lesbian who would just like people to stop putting fictional ships above real people's comfort
i feel you but....kinda part of my point....was that with a new movie means a new influx of people in the tag and fandom space who probs havent seen those old posts (i know ive never seen ur account before) and arent intending to put a ship above a real persons comfort.
trust me-- i know how exhausting it can feel to constantly feel like you're shouting into a void just to get some respect, but it's also exhausting to feel as tho you can never do anything right as a fan and there's no period of grace for learning. add that to the weaponized use i mentioned (which believe me, does genuinely happen) and i can see how it all gets....frustrating. and hard to tell who's genuine.
Biphobia has been extremely weaponized too. Being new is not an excuse for calling a ship het, especially when its being used in a derogatory way to imply they are less queer or the relationship is less valid. Calling them the het ship is almost always accompanied by an implication that it is less than. That gelphie is purer. That they erased Elphaba's queerness somehow.
Glinda? She gets the full comphet glass closet analysis. But Elphaba is reduced to straight unless she is with Glinda. Do you see the problem here? Nobody is calling Glinda/Fiyero the het ship. Because it's being turned into a competition where the wlw ship is queer and the bi4bi ship is straight and therefore "boring" or "inferior."
I have spent the last 2 pride months being constantly invalidated because my bi4bi NB/Cis M relationship looks straight to people on first glance. I had someone on Twitter once inform me I was in a straight relationship despite neither of us being straight. I was told the only way I could be bisexual was to be with members of multiple genders at the same time (i am but this person didn't know im poly).
Bi people got engaged at the Chappell Roan concert and immediately became "straight" in public discourse. People are constantly arguing what spaces I'm welcome in and where I can bring my partner. There is a real world impact here. One that causes mental health issues at a disproportionately high number compared to most of other queer folks (the exception being my trans loves who also constantly deal with rejection from the community).
You are over here tone policing because you feel the message should have been gentler instead of really sitting with the frustration and hurt that is caused by the behavior.
Words MATTER. If you are new here (and i don't even know what that means because this is a constant problem and it doesn't change because you are into a new show or movie) and have been engaging in shitty behavior unknowingly, take this as a sign to stop. Literally the original post was don't be a biphobic aashole because it's invalidating. The proper response if you didn't realize that is "sorry. I didn't know and now I do."
And then you stop. Stop calling it a het ship. Stop acting like it's inferior.
You can have a preference for the wlw ship. You can relate more to it.
Just don't be biphobic. That's the ask.
im not saying that its okay to invalidate bi folks, nor am i saying thats not a real issue or that OP doesnt have a right to feel their feelings. im saying that the reason people might be saying that is not always malicious. elphaba is not shown to be bisexual in the movie. neither is fiyero. bowen yang himself has said that even he didnt interpret fiyero's flirtiness as indicative of his sexuality when he first saw wicked. the reason i brought up "new" fans is because there is a very good reason why someone who has never engaged with this fandom beyond just seeing the musical or movies would think it IS actually a straight ship.
this has nothing to do with inferiority of ships. actually- a LOT of the people i see "erasing" elphaba's bisexuality are the ones shipping fiyeraba. gelphie shippers get absolutely ragged on about how "elphaba doesnt like girls" "elphaba never liked glinda that way" "stop making female friendships gay" etc etc. and its really frustrating when people always leap right to its "gelphie shippers being problematic for not liking the canon ship" and explicitly calling out only those who dont ship fiyeraba instead of maybe tackling the fact that the fucking plot never confirms they're queer.
why arent we calling out all that other biphobic behavior if its actually about that??
tldr- my main points were 1) casual or new viewers may think they're straight bc the show doesn't confirm otherwise and 2) it's frustrating that the post was targeted at gelphie shippers when they are often the ones seeing/facing that behavior

another faberry fic rec post!
so I got an ask yesterday, asking me the question I've been waiting months for someone to finally say to me in an anonymous forum, so I'd have the weak excuse to do this: a faberry fic rec post!
I've been straight up addicted to faberry fics for about six months now. and yeah, the year is 2025 and YEAH, I'm in my 30s. whatever??? some of us have late in life gay awakenings. (for the record I do have a wife but that's not the point.)
anyway, below the cut are a lot of my top favorite fics that I've read so far - but incomplete and non-definitive, because the list was getting toooo long. that said, if anyone were like "omg beth this is so great please share 100 more fics that you recommend" I would probably do that. my job, who I abandoned two hours earlier than I should have today to compile this, will not thank you, but I will.
anyway, I'll either keep this list updated if I find anymore I really want to add or maybe create a second post and link it here if it gets too long. we'll see!
June 16, 2025 update: I was going to make a follow-up fic rec master post, and then the post was so long that tumblr wouldn't let me post it lol. so instead I made a faberry fic rec blog oops. enjoy!

For research purposes, what would Veronica and Heather C’s favorite books be?
Veronica would be a George Orwell fan. I think 1984.
A second sapphic has hit the pitch perfect cast yall
It was both of them!!!
i’m trying to explain to my partner, who has never seen even an episode, how bizarre and deranged all of glee was. reblog this with your favorite insane plot line from glee.
omg i’m so gay like idk how I even questioned it like girls omg omg
unless that becomes a problem for some reason or another
then this was a joke. I love boys. Boys ooooo so handsome. Love them.
But if it’s not a problem. omg aren’t girls so pretty and soft and just idk light. idk how to explain it just like everything nice and bad and wrong and perfect and quiet and loud and everything all wrapped into one
I have a theory that probably isn't new,but I think that Galinda probably had a very lonely childhood and may not have actually been popular until like 8th-10th grade. She was obviously doted on and surrounded by yes-men from an early age,but I think she empathized with elphie from the beginning. I also think she was scared to express that for fear of losing the image she had so carefully crafted. She feels all this "loathing" as well as love towards Elphaba because she sees everything she still could be if she were braver...unfortunately this also includes becoming a pariah. Mind you,she does make wisecracks about elphie being green but they both enjoyed their little spat in history class. That Ozdust dance scene really seems to drive it home with how she joined Elphaba's dance. Okay, that might have been out of remorse for setting her up like that, but the comforting???? The wiping her tears and the embrace???? Ignoring her toxic ass friends trying to get her to stop when she's usually all about image???? Her doing the most to secure her date and position of love interest with fiyero only to ditch him entirely to run off with Elphie????
And THEN we get the Popular sequence. It's not just a flirty or silly little number (it is those things but it's more than that). Popularity has helped her rise up the social ladder despite a lack (at the time) of talent. Her ambition to become a sorceress is altruistic if also self-serving. She wants to actually DO and BE good and feel like the adoration she seems to acquire so easily has been earned. She tries to help Elphaba become popular because Elphaba IS good and has so much talent. BUT Elphaba lacks social skills and isn't conventionally attractive. Elphaba gave her a leg up towards her goals by not only insisting Galinda be in the seminar as well but also THREATENING TO QUIT THAT INSTANT if morrible didn't include her and give her the training wand. They both spend the rest of act 1 bar like a couple of scenes helping each other advance until they have to part ways inevitably. That's love born of empathy and understanding. The "galindafying" was her protecting Elphaba and literally the best gift she was able to give in return
quick sketches before work
Galinda is the personification of being "a little bit in the closet"
Y'all really fall for that "man spews shallow feminist talking points to distract from glaring concerns about how he actually treats women, such as numerous women in his professional orbit cutting ties with him" every damn time
What gets me is it took next to nothing for people to turn on Blake like…she was a bit rude in an interview once years ago…so??? People actually trying to cancel her for not being accommodating and sweet toward every single member of media during promo campaigns (which can go up to 12-14 hrs a day) and that’s it??? Meanwhile Chris Brown can have ten years of violence to his name and people will still defend him. Or Diddy can be charged with sex trafficking and within a week tik tok finds a way to…blame Beyonce?
Everyone who says Galinda should've gone with Elphaba needs to remember that 1; Elphaba never actually accomplishes much as a revolutionary, and Galinda becomes interim leader of Oz at the end of Musical canon (and maybe movie canon) so she'll have more chance to do Good in Oz and reverse the Wizard's terrible laws than Elphaba ever did. It really is all about Popular
2; she would've made a TERRIBLE fugitive. She wouldn't have lasted a day in hiding, especially if they had to do it in disguise, in the wilderness, or away from society in general. Which is exactly what Elphaba had to do.
