All you could feel was the cold feeling of the balcony railing digging into the side of your arms, that and the burning in your throat and lungs

You knew what this cigarette could do to you, what it could do to your career and your health.

You weren't dumb per say, you knew the consequences, you were just bad under pressure. or stressed, whatever you wanna call it.

the soft light from the cigarette lights up the tip of your nose, a slightly golden hue.

you loved this whole scene.

just you in your own world, watching over the city, with your music and the strong burning taste of tobacco in your lungs.

it was perfect.

A lanky finger pushes at the side of your stomach, making you jump and whip around just to see Martin's tall frame hovering over you.

His big, toothy grin fades slightly when he notices the lit cig between your fingers.

But he doesn't say anything, he just leans over the railing next to you. And he's quiet for a second, just looking out at the city lights. You can tell he's thinking of what to say.

You don't say anything either, not that you did have something to say, you just pull the cig up to your lips and take a deep breath in.

"Thought you quit."

It didn't sound like a question, though, more of a statement.

His disappointed tone was noticeable, and you knew why.

Your grandpa basically smoked himself to death, and Martin knew that. He was the one picking up the pieces of you after the fact. Everyone knew you weren't the same after.

So watching you do the same made it feel like, to him at least, that you didn't want to live anymore.

"Me too."

He turned his head to you, and you turned to look at him.

His lanky hand reached out to yours, your heart beats against your ribs, eyes shift to his lips, then his hand.

But he does something you never expected. He takes the cig from your hand and puts it to his lips.

And all you could do was stare.

Here he was, Martin, the love of your life (not that he knew that), the same boy you've loved since you met at 13, the boy you knew better than he knew himself.

His arms were flying around, his face was turning red, and his voice was getting too loud, considering it was almost 4am, and the whole building was asleep.

Okay so I literally have to make a whole post about this and I’m about to be the most parasocial person on this app rn idc anymore tho. So sorry not sorry but guys☹️☹️this actually made me sob so much. I know I come on this app and spread a lot of positivity and I try to shine my rays of sunshine on you guys but that’s just not how I feel personally. I’m currently going through a tough time but seeing cortis, a group of teenage boys who achieved their dreams, really gives me a lot of hope. Growing up is such a tough part of life because it means us experiencing more, good and bad, we each go through different paths in life and some tend to be more difficult to get through. So seeing these boys who each have their own background and their own stories and who knows, maybe they’ll tell us more about their stories but for now, seeing people my age accomplish such big things in their lives makes me feel less alone in this world. I know they’ve had obstacles in their lives as one usually does so it really does help. I feel weird even saying this because I never thought I would feel this way towards any group or celebrity or fandom but they really are amazing. Not to mention that being in this fandom, meeting and talking to all these great people, also helps me feel less alone<3 I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m very grateful to have been in this timeline, where cortis is a thing. Where I get to meet, talk, and be parasocial with all of you <3 and I’m totally not crying right now lol. i think the most distinguishing thing about this album is how different it is from cotl, and not just by sound. while cotl was more, well, colourful and hopeful, greengreen is still hopeful but in a world that tests you. there was a sense of recklessness and freedom that's only present when you're young and new in cotl. greengreen discusses their lives as of now, the gigantic shift of being under so many eyes and the constant workload. i feel like lullaby and blue lips echo each other so well in that sense, life before vs after fame, before achieving your dreams vs after ("i need something else and a new why"). from "i want the whole world to know my name" to the dejected tone in wassup "everytime they see me they know it's us" and in the same song they talk about their tiring schedules and walking through crowds at airports having people follow them, and of course the tnt mv that visualized the horrifying feeling perfectly. it's a scary shift ngl 😭 not because of the change but because it gives us a glimpse into their lives which isnt as sunshine and rainbows as they are presented specially with the regular vlogs that make you think that this is what their life is like at all times. i really love how their music is true to them because you can literally witness the growth and change in perceptions. i think they're trying to really emphasise their multifaceted identity and also trying to grapple with their own future (blue lips as @pearlywhitefics described so well the point about aging). similar to cotl this album also features a spectrum of sounds- from songs like acai and ycc (go and fashion) which are just pure crack in music form (i.e addictive) to the more softer, emotion based songs like blue lips and wassup (lullaby and joyride).

idk the shift feels so significant, theyre still a bunch of kids messing around in the studio, while also having to deal with things that normal people their age don't have to, especially considering how most of them having been in the loop of things since they were like what 11? 12? insane. but anyways you can see greengreen is growing on me......

the hopefulness of greengreen speaks to me even more because it's like sunlight breaking from the clouds, im just a sappy sucker for friendship, the constant mentions of finding comfort in eachother and in pursuing their love for music- "been through the lows now we get high", "i can't go back now to an empty house", "they called me a freak, i was obsessed, with making tracks, then came my friends" , "sixteen still just clueless kids....at the studio pc waking their dna"
