It makes sense that Geum-myeong couldn’t marry someone who’s a lesser version of her dad and become a slave to her MIL. And not only because he doesn’t live up to the standard but also because she’s meant to avoid repeating her mother’s life. She can’t be stuck in the kitchen, raising kids, and doing house chores all day, the entire trajectory of her life has been leading her to a different fate. That’s how her parents raised her.

Watching her be so obedient and lifeless in the dinner scene felt wrong. Not standing up for themselves and for each other was killing them both—Aesun and Geum-myeong. Honestly, thank god this marriage is off.
