Life Update, 1 Year Later

I understand we all miss this fic. I miss being in the place where I was when I could mentally and physically work on it. But this?

This is not how we respond to that feeling.

I know I've mentioned it in the past, but I originally started writing this fic as a distraction from a really tough time in my life. I didn't really have anyone to talk to specifically about it, so fanfiction it was.

Then, I started new medication. New, expensive, "apparently there's no generic of this" medication. At first, I was confident that I'd be getting back on my feet soon, that I'd find a job that would allow me to pay for all of this. The money I had saved up was largely running out, and the pressure I felt after receiving literally thousands of job rejections got to me. I wasn't in a good place mentally to write. The inciting incident that I wanted to distract myself from was still ongoing. Months went by.

The good news, is that I have a job now. The bad news is that it's exhausting work, and it's full time. I've been on the work/sleep/repeat grind for over 3 months now, and all the while I still don't have any sort of insurance to cover the medicine I need. That old personal problem I had JUST saw its first bit of motion literally this month, too. There's a lot going on.

I get that you're frustrated by all this. I am, too. I hate my job, and I hate how it's taken over my life. All I can ask of you is to wait. I don't know when the fic is coming back. I just know that I said I'd finish it eventually, even if it slows to a crawl, and I still feel that way. The planning docs haven't been deleted, though I have been considering moving them to a different hosting platform so my browser doesn't lag as badly when I look at them.

As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.

I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. But I have to do what is best for me and my work. Thank you for your understanding.

life update: things have been steadily declining over by where i am, and i've not really had the chance to work on SN at all; I'm thinking i'm going to have to upgrade the unofficial post-chapter long hiatus into 1 mega right-now ultrahiatus while I get enough fic written out again so I won't have to take such long breaks in between chapters. I really don't know how long this is going to take but I want to get the news out there while I still can because apparently tumblr is in danger of shutting down now? but I just wanted to let yall know where i'm at while I still can

I'm going to wait and see what happens in terms of this blog, but if things get bad I'll probably try moving over to bluesky or something. who knows! i certainly dont
