Prologue (You Again.)

“Angela once I hop my ass in this car and drive off, don’t catch an attitude”

“Well you should’ve called me two hours ago”

“You do this every year, hurry up”

Angela and Michael argued back and forth as she ran in and out of her home with her bags. Every year he picks up her to take her to the cabin and of course every year they are the last ones to arrive. She got her last bag into the trunk and she smiled.

“Okay hoe lets go”

Michael laughed and hopped into the truck. Angela got in the other side and buckled her seatbelt. She clapped her hands together as she squirmed in her seat.

“Im so excited, this year we gotta do it big, maybe throw a party or something”

“Its not like we’re gonna stop being friends Angie”

“I know but everyone’s getting married, having kids, and moving on doing adult shit. After awhile we wont have time for each other”

She sighed and looked out the window as she propped her head up on the window. She still remembers the first time they ever went to the cabin.

June 17th, 2000

Britney threw the ping pong ball into the cup as chadwick, Kalisha, and Devan cheered.

“Woo another one for Ms. Valedictorian”

Chadwick high fived her as she picked the cup up and quickly chugged it down. This was their first night alone out of town with no adults, mostly because they themselves were adults not. Angela came out of the room with her yearbook in her hand.

“Okay guys, I know you all aren’t gonna disappear anytime soon but I still want you fuckers to sign my yearbook”

All 7 of the friends laughed as they each walked over to Angela, who handed the pen to Devan first. He said aloud what he wrote in the back.

“You still ugly but I love you anyway, xoxo Devan”

Chadwick and Connor laughed as Angela snatched the pen away from him and handed it to Britney. She smiled as she wrote in her girly handwriting, dotting her i’s and j’s with hearts.

“You’re my best friend and just know, Im not going anywhere anytime soon, I love you Angie!”

They hugged as Britney passed the pen to Chadwick and he wrote his note along with the others.

Angela laughed as she remembered everything about that night, a lot of shit went down but it was something only she and certain people in the friend group knew. She couldn’t wait to see her best friend, Britney. Their reunion was long overdue.

Britney sighed as she zipped her suitcase. She was nervous and excited for this trip. This would be the last time she would hang out with all of her friends and probably the last time she would see Chadwick. She looked down at the engagement ring on her finger. She was getting married in September and she wanted everyone to be their, including Chadwick. She heard a knock on the door and looked up to see her fiance, Damian,walking in.

“Hey baby”

She walked over to him and kissed him on the cheek.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to come?”

Britney shook her head as she pulled her suitcase off of the bed.

“No its just gonna be us. We all need this time together”

“I understand baby, well be careful alright”

Britney smiled as she kissed him again

“I will and I love you”

Damian just smiled as he opened the door for her. He barely says I love you back to her but she thinks nothing of it. She waved him goodbye as he shut the door to their home. She unlocks her car and puts her suitcase in the trunk. She climbed in her front seat and exhales.

“Come on Britney, you can do this. You can face him and you two can be normal with each other”

She smiled as she started her car and pulled out of her driveway. Ready or not, she was gonna let everything out on this trip.

Devan flipped his boss off as he walked out of the store with his jacket. He opened the car door to Kalisha sitting on the drivers side eating a sandwich.

“Yo ass got fired again didn’t you”

“Yea now lets go”

Kalisha shook her head as she started the truck. Her and Devan lived right next door to each other and he got on her everlasting nerves but he was her friend and she would be sad if he ever moved away. She would never tell him that though. She took another bite of her sandwich as Devan looked at her. She sighed and rolled her eyes. They both were excited for this trip and they put their bags in the truck 3 days early.

“Here you damn fool”

He smiled as he took the sandwich from her. He smacked on it as he looked at the road.

“What time our plane leave?”

“We not taking a plane, we’re driving”

“Driving? You mean imma sit my ass in this car fot 5 hours with you”

“Yea what’s wrong with me”

“I like you but not that damn much”

Kalisha nodded her head and pointed at him

“I’ll remember that when yo ass need another ride to another damn job”

“I dont care, I can walk”

Kalisha stopped the car and looked at him

“Get yo ass out then”

“Im just playin big baby come on now you doing too much”

She rolled her eyes and turned back towards the road.

“Lets go then”

Chadwick rolled his suitcase onto the plane as he stuffed it into the overhead. He sat down and sighed as he put his headphones in. He looked at his phone and still no text back from his girlfriend, well ex-girlfriend now. He wasn’t ready for marriage and she was. They had an argument 2 days prior and she left. He didnt wanna marry her because he still wanted to be with Britney. He let her walk away and he’s regretted it. He was hoping this trip would finally let him express himself after all these years.

2002

He was face to face with Britney, thinking of what he should say. He liked her but he knew she would reject him. She looked at him and smiled.

“So what did you wanna talk about?”

He sighed and shook his head.

“Nothing, I just wanted to look at the stars that’s all”

“Oh okay”

He walked up beside her as they both turned around and gazed at the sky

“Where do you think we’ll be 10 years from now?”

“Hopefully happy”

Britney leaned her head on his shoulder as they continued gazing into the sky. Things were complicated between them and now was the chance to figure everything out.

Connor kissed his fiancee on the lips as he walked towards the airport.

“Be careful and I hope you have fun”

“I will baby I promise”

He smiled as he waved goodbye. He missed his friends and the memories that came with that cabin. Britney and Angela were the only ones who knew his secret but now he was ready to tell everyone. There was no sense in holding back anymore, he was happy with his life and it wouldn’t be right to keep his best friends in the shadows. This trip was a make it or break it for him.

Peace, family! First, welcome to this here Tumblr! Secondly, did I say “what up?!” I’ve accumulated a gang of new followers (again, heeyyyyyyyyy!) so I wanted to put together a masterlist of all of my writing stuffs on this here app.

I do chapter fanfic and shorts about love, relationships and the BS – beautiful shit and bad shit – that comes with it. I also write from a Christian perspective (not preachy, though! and my characters have foul-ass mouths, like me) so because of that, I specialize in what the streets have called “smut thoughts”. I don’t write smut but I get somewhat close to the line so if you’re looking for an alternative to smut fic, I might be your girl. 3 PAGAN GODS OF BEER & WINE 🍷

Dionysus

He is the Greek god of the grape-harvest, wine, fertility, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, and theatre. Wine played an important role in Greek culture, and the worship of Dionysus was the main religious focus surrounding its consumption. Wine was seen as not only a gift of the god, but a symbolic incarnation of him on earth.

Dionysus was believed to have been born from the union of Zeus and Persephone, and to have represented a chthonic or underworld aspect of Zeus. However, it gets a little weird as many believed that he had been born twice, having been killed and reborn as the son of Zeus and the mortal Semele.

Dionysus is not really a god of drunkenness, as he was often stereotyped in the post-Classical era. The religion of Dionysus centered on the appropriate consumption of wine, which could ease suffering and bring joy, as well as inspire a type of divine madness which was distinct from drunkenness.

Ninkasi

Ninkasi is a goddess of beer from ancient Sumeria. Her father was the King of Uruk and her mother was the high priestess of the temple of Inanna, a goddess of procreation. There is a famous hymn to Ninkasi from 1800 BCE which both praises her and offers an ancient recipe for brewing. This hymn was most likely sung while the ancient Sumerians brewed their beer and was passed down by master brewers to their apprentices.

Ninkasi was considered to be both the brewer of beer and the beer itself. Her spirit and essence was believed to be infused into the beer produced under her guidance. The priestesses of Ninkasi were also the brewers in the society. Most ancient depictions of brewers clearly show them as women in both Mesopotamia and Egypt although, once brewing became a commercial enterprise, males were shown supervising the female brewers.

Sucellus

Sucellus is originally a Gualic deity who was eventually incorporated into the Roman Pantheon. He is usually portrayed as a middle-aged bearded man, with a long-handled hammer which may actually be a beer barrel suspended from a pole. He usually also carries a urn or cooking vessel to store food or wine.

Sucellus is a humble god and is above all a god of peasants. He protects the areas that lie at the margins of society—woods and wild places—but also fields and vineyards. Evidence of his worship is particularly common in an old Gallic region which in modern day is the region of Burgundy, France. So next time you pick up a nice bottle of burgundy from the liquor store, give thanks to Sucellus for taking care of the vineyards all these years.

It's unknown who their parents are, as it's never stated. But it's possible their parents are either Zeus (Jupiter) and Eurynome, or Dionysus (Bacchus).

The laughter fell heavily out of Ariadne’s mouth with the smile from her face. “Don’t say that.”

Dionysus scoffed. “She may be older than me, but my throne is as tall as hers. I’ll say what I want.”

Ariadne turned her face away. “You may flatter who you please without fear of consequence, but those who are flattered bear the burden of your favor.”

Dionysus let a wry grin overtake his face. “You would call my favor a burden?” he sneered, sitting up and brushing the sand off his tunic. “Allow me to relieve you.”

Ariadne reached out and grabbed his arm roughly. He jerked back with the force of her grip. He spun his head around to glare at her, his violet eyes flashing with divinity. She flinched back and squeezed her eyes shut to block out the burning light. Her very being trembled under his gaze, but as he looked at her, he realized that while her form shivered she did not. She no longer shook for fear of him. He considered turning her to ash and ending the conflict between them and within himself, but he remembered their shared wish that she trust him and he relaxed under her grip.

“I’ll try not to overreact if you try not to insult me needlessly,” Dionysus offered dryly.

Something akin to humor passed over Ariadne’s face but fell away as quickly as it came. “All parents teach their children that they should beware the gods’ favor as much as their wrath. Zephyr slew Hyacinthus for having Apollo’s favor. Apollo slew Orion for having Artemis’ heart.” Dionysus opened his mouth to protest, but Ariadne cut him off. “Medusa was Athena’s own priestess whose only crime was catching the eye of Poseidon.”

Dionysus sighed and sat back down beside her. “I am a fool. I suppose I remember less of my mortality than I thought.” Ariadne did not fill the silence that fall, but she didn’t remove her hand from where it had settled back on top of his either. “My mother,” Dionysus began. “Was one of Zeus’ many lovers.” He closed his eyes but it did not stop the tears from leaking out of them and making his eyelashes hang heavy.

He took a long breath and continued, “I was a god before I met her. Before my uncle allowed me to venture into his realm to see her for the first time. She was angry at everything, but not resentful. I think I’m starting to understand that the reason she wasn’t resentful was that she wasn’t allowed to be.”

“What was her name?”

Dionysus turned to her and let his eyes meet hers, crinkling with a smile. “Semele,” he said. “Her name was Semele and she was killed by Hera and Zeus.”

Ariadne frowned. “May I ask you a personal question?”

Dionysus laughed. “I think we’ve passed the point where you need to ask.”

“You refer to Zeus as Zeus, but you called the Rich One your uncle,” Ariadne observed.

Dionysus shrugged. “Zeus accepted me onto Olympus to spit at Hera. If they had not been fighting, I would have never achieved godhood.” He fell back onto the sand again. “Hades, my uncle, has no throne on Olympus. He resented me at first for the throne he was never offered, but of all the gods, he knows mortality the best. He understood what I had sacrificed for godhood, the rest of my family only knew what I had gained. It was my aunt, Hestia, who told me to speak with him. In the first year of my godhood, I spent more of it in the Underworld than I did Olympus. Persephone and Hades understand what it is to struggle with being conceptual. I owe them much.”

“I’ve never heard the Unseen One described so…” Ariadne trailed off.

“Kindly?” Dionysus laughed. “I know. Most mortals fear him and most gods are disquieted by him. He is not to be feared. Of the gods, I think, perhaps, he is the most fair. No grudge will have him take a soul before its time or punish a soul more than is deserved.”

Ariadne fell quiet. “It is not easy to ignore a lifetime of warnings.”

Dionysus nodded. “Death is a frightening concept, but my uncle is not the concept of death, that is Thanatos. Hades is the concept of the dead. The two of them are more just than any god with dominion over life or the living.”

“Do you include yourself in that?”

Dionysus threw back his head and barked out a laugh. “My dear girl,” he said with a grin. “I have never once claimed to be fair or just. A fair god would have left you to die.”

70. “Are you really going to leave without asking me the question you’ve been dying to ask me?”

They were sitting in Dean’s appartment, watching 300 when Dean made the comment.

“I should grow a beard,” he said, looking at King Leonidas’ with jealousy. Seamus turned to look at him.

“Yeh’d look rubbish with a beard,” he remarked. Dean made a face.

“I don’t think so. I think it’d make me look distinguished.”

“Neville’s growing a beard,” Seamus commented. “Ran into him down at the pub. He definitely didn’t look distinguished.”

“Well, I’d wear it better than Neville.”

“That’s assuming yeh can even grow one. Yeh’re no Dumbledore.”

“Dumbledore,” said Dean fondly. “Now there was a man who could rock a beard. Maybe I should grow mine out like his.”

“Yeah, I’m sure Jean would love that,” Seamus said sarcastically. His friend fell silent and for a second Seamus thought that maybe he had overstepped by bringing up Dean’s boyfriend. But after a moment, Dean made the real reason for his silence clear.

“Actually, Jean and I broke up,” he said. Seamus could tell he was trying to sound casual but he didn’t quite manage it.

“Oh,” said Seamus, unsure what else he should say. “Sorry, mate.” That seemed like a safe bet, right?

Dean shrugged. “It was better for both of us.”

“Right.”

Seamus tried to refocus on the movie, but he didn’t quite manage.

92. “Those things you said yesterday… Did you mean them?”

Seamus woke up that morning to sunlight streaming through his window. He groaned and rolled over, pleasantly surprised to find that Dean was still in bed.

“Mornin’,” he said, pulling Dean closer, but Dean seemed stiff.

“We need to talk,” Dean said, and Seamus opened his eyes.

“What do yeh mean?”

Dean sat up in bed and Seamus reluctantly rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

“Those things you said yesterday…” Dean started. “Did you mean them?”

Seamus pushed himself up onto his pillow and tried to shake himself awake.

“What are yeh on about?”

“What you said to Albus,” Dean clarified. “I overheard what you said to him.” And Seamus started to understand.

“Dean…”

“Did you mean it?”

“Which part?” said Seamus turning to face his husband. “The part where I told him his life would be easier if he weren’t gay?”

“Yeah, that part,” Dean said testily. Seamus sighed.

“Well, I wasn’t going to lie to the kid, was I?”

“So your saying your life would be easier? If you weren’t married to me.”

“Dean come off it. Yeh know our lives would be easier if I weren’t a bloke.”

“Are you saying you regret it?” Dean said, his voice a challenge. “Our life together?”

“Yeh know that’s not what I’m saying,” Seamus said, reaching his hands out towards Dean’s. Dean seemed reluctant, but he let Seamus take them.

“What are you saying then?” Dean said, looking down at their hands.

“I’m saying me mam would have shown up for our wedding. I’m saying we’d be able to do this–” he raised their hands “–in public without wondering if someone will attack us for it. I’m saying I wouldn’t have to deal with the looks and the ‘oh really’s at work every time I mention I have a husband. I’m saying it would be easier. Not better. Not more genuine. Just… easier.”

“Albus is just a kid,” Dean muttered.

“And kids are cruel,” Seamus said. “We’re almost lucky we didn’t get together until after Hogwarts.”

“I wish you weren’t right,” Dean confessed, looking over at Seamus. Seamus leaned forward and pressed his forehead against Dean’s.

“I’m always right,” Seamus joked, and Dean laughed.

Seamus walked into the pub and started scanning the room for Harry and Ginny. He found them over in the corner with another unexpected but welcome guest.

“Hey, Dean,” Seamus said, sliding into the booth next to him. Dean nodded his greeting. “I didn’t know yeh’d be here.”

“Good to see you, Seamus,” Dean said with a smile. Then, to the other two, “Who else is coming?” Harry and Ginny exchanged a look.

“Oh, just you two,” Ginny said, and Seamus thought she was trying a little too hard to sound casual. He looked at Dean who seemed to be thinking the same thing.

“I’ll go get us drinks,” Harry announced, standing. “Ginny?”

“Oh, I’ll come with you. What do you two want?”

Seamus and Dean told them their orders and the Potters left to go fill them. The two men sat in silence for a moment, then Seamus asked the obvious question.

“Is this supposed to be a double date?”

“It’s not a double date,” Dean replied, “we’re just third and fourth wheeling.”
