ugh I hate calculus⌠why did I sin up for this
You should have signed up for spelling classes instead
pun or not, you spelled sine wrong. There is literally no place where it is written âsinâ

I want to beat these condescending fedoras with a log
i know i have a new meta damn near every week after a new ep comes out, but i really wanted to talk about one of my favorite scenes in this whole arc
this scene took me by surprise because itâs not in the manga. reigen never receives a second email from his mom. this is all bones, shedding a little more light on reigenâs upbringing and his relationship with his parents, and i canât get over how needed this was for reigenâs character.
from what we know of reigenâs mom, she seems kind of overbearing and her concerns center mainly around reigenâs career choices and his future. thatâs not to say sheâs uncaring about reigenâs emotions or his wellbeing, but from the 2 times weâve heard from her, she comes off a bitâŚcold. the overly-polite way she phrases things is very detached, as if sheâs talking to an acquaintance, a coworker, a client. not her own son.
and from that one little glimmer of insight she gave us about reigenâs father, it can be assumed that he was never very open with reigen. cared about him, of course, but wasnât one to outwardly express it.Â
overall, my theory is that reigenâs family was the type to never say âi love youâ out loud, never allow themselves to show genuine emotions, never cry in front of others. i firmly believe this is why reigen himself bottles up his emotions, why putting on a facade comes so naturally to him. sure, working at a call center certainly helped shape his public persona into the loud, eccentric caricature it is, but i think his home life was the main contributor.
his reaction to this formal, criticizing email from his mother is one of resignation. this behavior from his parents is nothing new. always criticizing, always so concerned. they want him to settle down. they want him to get a reputable job, a ârealâ job. they want to hold a family meeting, something reigen has probably been through many times before. heâs not doing anything right. heâs disappointing his parents, as usual.Â
and when he was following his parentsâ will? when he was a young salaryman doing everything he was supposed to? he was miserable. he was depressed. he had a meltdown in the form of abruptly quitting his stable job and renting out an office without even having a plan.
itâs all of this context that makes this scene all the more powerful:
look at his fucking face. how long has he been waiting to hear this? not from a client, not from his bar âfriendsâ, not from somebody insincere, someone trying to get something out of him. but from someone who genuinely cares about him, someone he admires and looks up to? this arc isnât just about how reigen became lonely, depressed, and borderline self-loathing since mob ditched him, itâs something heâs been feeling for long, long time.Â
mob is, and always has been, the splash of color in reigenâs otherwise monochromatic world. and itâs not until this kid, whoâs working hard every single day to better himselfâto control his dangerous powers, get more physically fit, stand up for himself, make friends and socializeâthis kid whoâs grown up so much since the first time he stumbled into reigenâs office, says that reigen is a good person, that he finally allows himself to tear up and start believing it for himself.Â
Me: *hiding under the bed*
Murderer:
Me:
Murderer:
Me:
Murderer: country roads take me home to the place I belong
Me: WEST VIRGIoh no
hound wranglerÂ
Itâs a bit redundant, but I wanted to write it down because I appreciate it.Â
Reigen could say anything at this moment. Dozens of cameras are pointed his way. Thousands of people watching him. 59k tweets, right? Everyoneâs talking about him. He has an audience. His business is on the precipice of collapsing. Everyone knows. Or at least they think they know. Reigen needs to say something to keep his business afloat.
Heâs losing the audience. Or he already lost them before he started the press conference. We know Reigen, we expectâwantâhim to use his 100 speech level wily ways to slither out of his miserable situation. Hell, even Ritsu and Teru were like, âOooh, what does he have planned??? This mastermind??? This genius??â
And heâs got nothing. His mind is totally blank, he canât think, and at this point, heâs just fed up. So instead of dedicating his press conference to his business, to his reputation, he dedicates it to the only person he cares about hurting in this scenario.
To Mob. Because he messed up. And this might be the last time he gets the chance to say something to him. Because maybe Mob knows. And once Mob knows, heâll never talk to Reigen again. They havenât spoken. Maybe Mob hates him. Maybe Mob is really angry at him. But after this? After all of his lies? Once Mob realizes how much Reigen used him, itâs over. There is no possibility for their relationship to ever be repaired.
So he tries, one last time, to convey to Mob that he gets it. Maybe he doesnât get Mob anymoreâheâs an esper, has struggles outside Reigenâs range; remember the end of the manga?âbut he gets it. âYouâve grown so muchâ is such a weighted statement. It has more than one meaning. It means that Mob has matured. And because Mob has grown up, Reigen has no right to tell him what friends he should have. He has no right to keep Mob in a box. Mob knows how to deal with people more. Heâs more head-strong, more experienced than he once was 3 years ago. Maybe Reigen kept viewing Mob as this 10 year old kid, the same kid who relied on him so desperately 3 years ago. And maybe this is Reigen finally understanding that heâs no longer the skittish little esper child, and instead realizes that heâs the boy who clawed his way out of Mogamiâs clutches and had the strength to learn from it rather than buckle.
Itâs an apology where he doesnât say sorry. And itâs the most important line in the entire episode.

I wonder if Thorâs Allspeak extends to animals
Bee: *is present*
Thor, turning to Tony: He says this stupid damn city needs more flowers and pollen-bearing plants because youâre making him have to work a 16-hour shift every day just to feed his wife and kids
Tony: What the fuck Thor weâve talked about this
Dog: *Bark bark bark*
Thor, sternly: No, Captain Americaâs pants are not fit for consumption
Steve, with no idea that Thor can speak dog: ???!?!????!!!??
Fly: *hums*
Thor, leaping from his chair: Oh what the FUCK did you say about my hair?? Oh you want to fuckign go do you?? Is that what you fucking want??? Well Step the FUCK UP then you stupid ass buzzy BITCH *summons lightning*
DUM-E: *Beep boops*
Thor, patting Tony on the back: well done my friend
Tony: For what?
Thor: Your robot is telling me all about how well his dad oiled up his joints this morning and keeps saying âI love himâ on repeat. He has been doing this for an hour.
Tony, immediately tearing up:Â oh my fucking god Thor
Equally funny: the idea that Allspeak doesnât extend to animals and Thor is just making all this up to fuck with everyone
Imagine This
Imagine that your partner has been hitting you. Yelling at you. Youâve been married for a few years, youâre both in your 30s, you have a little daughter, and everything you do seems to be wrong. Youâve been made fun of, mocked and belittled by your partner.Â
But you need them, because you canât take another failed relationship. You canât be alone again, and theyâve got you convinced that all the beatings and scratches and scrapes are your fault.
You tell your friends and they laugh. No matter how many bruises or cuts you show them, itâs still your fault, so you hide them. You feel trapped, but you donât feel like you can escape. Youâre convinced that youâre just locking yourself in.
And you see online one day an article. Someone else went through what you have. They got the cuts, the bruises, the scratches. You see that here is hope and freedom from these beatings. The physical and emotional pain can go away, there is someone there to help!
So you write down a list of 10 abuse victim hotlines, for people being abused. And you call them one by one.
If you were a man:
6 of those hotlines would refuse to help because of your gender.
3 of those hotlines would refer you to or give you a number to a hotline dealing with people that abuse and are looking to stop.
1 of those hotlines would help.
Out of those 10, 2 of those would also laugh at you or say you deserved it.
If you were a woman:
10 of those hotlines would help.
Abuse is very scary, but what seems scarier to you; being abused, reaching out and getting the help you need, or being abused, reaching out and getting laughed and turned away over 60% of the time because of who you are?
Only 8% of men who call abuse hotlines find them âvery helpfulâ and get the assistance they need.
Women can abuse. Men can be abused. Men need equality and help too.
Wtf is this trash lol
how is this trash?
All they could say is âthis is trashâ because this study was written and published by a woman with a PhD and is comprehensive and heavily sourced.
Just to add some quotes found in the study from men who tried to seek help:
â˘Â They laughed at me and told me I must have done something to deserve it if it happened at all.
â˘Â They asked how much I weighed and how much she weighed and then hung up on meâŚI was told by this agency that I was full of BS.
â˘Â They accused me of trying to hide my âabuseâ of her by claiming to be a victim, and they said that I was nothing more than a wimp.
â˘Â They didnât really listen to what I said. They assumed that all abusers are men and said that I must accept that I was the abuser. They ridiculed me for not leaving my wife, ignoring the issues about what I would need to do to protect my six children and care for them.
And maybe the saddest one:Â They just laughed and hung up the phone.
Man can be abused too , this is not trash
My father had to suffer hell for years , and he ended up in hopsital too because of my mother . So donât you dare to say that a man canât suffer from abuse because thatâs bullshit. It happens , it can happen to everyone . And the fact that people are not willing to help is just sickÂ
This breaks my heart.
This is a conversation just as important as the conversation about abused women. We need to have it far more often.
As a woman who was abused by another woman I often feel invisible and marginalized in the discourse about abuse.
So when I see posts like this I reblog them instantly.
NO ONE should have their experiences mocked, belittled, dismissed, or erased.
