This is a message from Lord Nergal: “I await you on the Dread Isle.”
.
Headcanons that are just "(character you personally dislike) is cishet and/or queerphobic" are lazy and boring.
!
Journey for Kingship Ends is peak!!!! Imo it’s the best of the “journey for __ ends” themes!!!! (but obviously that is completely subjective lol)
I don’t usually take note of background music while playing games just because I get too focused on the actual gameplay, so I tend to appreciate the sountracks post-game
But this one??? Actually made me pause for a moment because. DAMN!!! They blended Hikari’s character theme with the battle theme so well?!?! It hit me with so many emotions!!!! And the flutes go SO HARD!!!!

hey folks if you have an android phone: google shadow installed a "security app".

I had to go and delete it myself this morning.
One of the things that make Octopath Traveler such a stellar game is that the writers understand something very important about worldbuilding: as a general rule, religious people believe in their religion, and that has an effect on the way they live their lives.
(As a religious person myself I am quite frankly baffled by the number of people who don't understand this.)
Because the writers understand that, religion in Orsterra isn't just sprinkled on top in a couple places, it's baked into the culture, which is an excellent thing for high-quality worldbuilding because that's how cultures work in real life.
.
this might end up being a controversial opinion but I feel like the points of connection between the individual travelers' stories were handled way better in the first game than in the second. in OT1 it felt like a fun puzzle to solve where you had to piece together the scattered clues. in OT2 it feels like they're basically shoving things in your face going "IT'S CONNECTED LOOK IT'S CONNECTED HEY LOOK WE'RE BUILDING UP TO AN ENDGAME PLOT WHERE WE TIE EVERYTHING TOGETHER-" and that's just not as interesting to me.
there's probably a lot of people who prefer the OT2 approach and that's fine but for me personally it's not nearly as satisfying ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
.
just bc OT2 improves upon the first in many ways, does not mean OT1 has no value nor is it bad and should be skipped over if you're only looking to play one of the games

Hello!
Do you have thoughts about Octopath Traveler that you'd like to share with the world? Send them here!
ALLOWED: opinions on gameplay, story, music, characters, design, ships, etc; commentary on the OT fandom itself; fan theories and Octopath OCs; possibly some other stuff too, I haven't figured everything out yet.
NOT ALLOWED: anything NSFW; other guidelines may be added if necessary.
Anything with spoilers will be tagged with the game(s), character(s) and chapter(s) as well as a general spoiler tag (for example, spoilers for Osvald's chapter 3 would be tagged "spoilers," "octopath traveler 2 spoilers," "octopath 2 spoilers," "Osvald spoilers," and "Osvald chapter 3 spoilers").
Have fun! Go nuts!

I'm glad you're a normal person and not one of these morons you see on here who can't see past their own noses and spend all their time stirring up weird discourse.
Maybe that's why you're so popular.
Discourse isn't fun. So much shit online has devolved into anger-tainment: content that only seeks to frustrate its viewer. They pick an easy target, and simply play to their frustrations, making them emotionally invested through proxy of certain events (rarely does the event actually matter to them). Once invested, this allows the player to cheaply virtue-signal the played - whatever sentiment echoes theirs on whatever matter. This cyclically activates the lil' part in our brains that releases dopamine during moments of agreement between like-minded people, but it's artificial - faux-communal moral-upstanding, coupled often with a release of frustration through battery of the shamed. But this digital injection subtracts the human-element of a second party. It often lacks a true means of vocalization. It's a one-way mirror; the viewer can only see themselves in its reflection. They feel praised for their own views and are reaffirmed by invisible threads, all whilst playing into creators who rile people up for a living, creators who pray on your anger and conscience, sapping it from your unwilled body, leaving it a mere husk.

i love them with all my heart, but i was a little disappointed when robin wasn't actually dead at the end of awakening if you chose to land the finishing blow on grima with them. maybe it's the persona 3 fan in me.
