Today in Middle-Earth: Theoden is slain (March 15th, 3019 T.A.)
'My body is broken. I go to my fathers. And even in their mighty company I shall not now be ashamed. I felled the black serpent. A grim morn, and a glad day, and a golden sunset!‘
I have feels
As always around Christmas, first the Hobbit and later LotR is on German TV. I watch the last sequences of the Fellowship (already cried about Boromir’s death as usual) and remember my fanfics that I wrote back in the days. German fanfics, mainly about Aragorn and Eowyn whom I still quietly ship. And about my sweet Boromir. I already found them, printed out, buried deep down in some drawer and now I’m wondering whether anyone would want to read them if I translated them.
Start with a bang, end with a whimper: the problem with fandom studies
Imagine you start talking about a new fic idea, and it’s a hit! People are excited, they’re weighing in, they’re even signal boosting. This is going to be awesome, you think, and you start writing. A thousand words, five thousand words, ten thousand words - the first chapter is a big one, but it has to be perfect. After all, so many people are interested, and you’re using a lot of ideas they gave you, so you want it to be as good as possible.
Finally, you’re ready to publish. One last round of editing, then you hit post. Look!, you want to yell. I did the thing you wanted me to do!
And… tumbleweeds.

(❋) Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit Meme ↳ Nine Characters - (6/9) Eowyn.
“But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomund’s daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.”
I can already tell that I will never ever be over getting to take these pictures!
The Witch-King is helloiamabird (IG) and she was wonderful and very tall and scary to work with.

War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for glory. I love only that which they defend: the city of the Men of Númenor; and I would have her loved for her memory, her ancientry, her beauty, and her present wisdom.

me: *stumbles over my love for faramir*
New found love for Faramir
After reading the books for the first time, (after having watched lotr films many times), I always thought Faramir was a cool character but wasn’t anywhere near portrayed as the captain and gentleman he truly is in the books. Thus a new love for Faramir has been born!

Say it with me now…FARAMIR WAS NOT SEDUCED BY THE RING.
