29 and 42 for the ask thoingy! Some questions of my own too. Do they make it a habit to eat meals together? How often? Where do they usually sit for breakfast/lunch/dinner?

Domesticity ask

29. What do their cupboards or shelves look like?

At first, I imagine the shelves are kind of bare. Maybe a plant or two here and there. But as they slowly kind of merge and move into Drifter's back room apartment, the shelves get more crowded with like, little gifts/trinkets/other stuff. For example, On-Lyne merch or Sailor Guardian Lua DVD/cassette sets, floofs, you name it. Locke loves cute stuff :3

42. What are little gestures they do for each other?

Arthur will cut her food in square portions for her before serving it - well, he'll do it for whatever food he can feasibly do it for. He does it to give her a sense of home. For example. Locke really loves his grilled cheese, right? Instead of cutting the sandwich diagonally, he'll cut the crust down so that's it's as square as possible. He also takes really good care of her atomicycle, since she's not really familiar with how to maintain 1999 tech. Oh, and he'll sing her back to sleep if she's had a particularly rough night in terms of nightmares :')

Locke, if she knows he'll be out on a mission without her, will always sneak him a little note in one of his utility pouches before he leaves to let him know she's thinking about him <3 She'll go out of her way to bug Velimir about giving her secret access to *the good stuff* for Arthur. She also keeps an eye on all his tools and cooking equipment, and makes a mental list to repair or find a new one before it breaks so that he doesn't have to do it.

Do they make it a habit to eat meals together? How often? Where do they eat breakfast/lunch/dinner?

Yes! well, as often as possible they will eat together. I've mentioned they really like cooking together. They usually eat all 3 meals in Locke's apartment, and bring the food up to the loft area where there's couches and a table, and where she has the TV set up. Sometimes they'll watch TV, sometimes they'll just talk. Either way, it's their time together and they cherish it <3

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

What's Locke's lore?

Hiii!! Thank you so much for asking about her :D I am MORE than happy to yap about my precious Drifter hehehe. There's gonna be a lot to cover so I'm just going to put it all under a read more.

Okay, I'm going to do my best to make this as chronological as possible. I am also bound to forget stuff so...

Initially born to two human mechanics from Earth (Florin, Toska)

Her original/real name (that the Operator still uses) is Eden Altir-Kerollos

Her parents signed up for the Zariman colony ship in an effort to give her a chance at a better life

She doesn't remember her life before the Zariman, nor her parents. She remembers the feeling of being loved by them, but not the memory of being loved.

She does have a suspicion during the Zariman Ten-Zero incident, her parents eventually turned into Void Angels. She remembers hearing the low hum of a lullaby her Mum used to sing to her.

Duviri changed her hair, eyes, and branded her with the crescent moon tattoo as a defense against the Man in the Wall. Locke was so terrified of how he wore her face, smashed every mirror on the ship out of paranoia, and changed her features so he couldn't wear it like that again. She can't turn off the eye glow but it can increase in intensity with emotion/power use. The crescent moon tattoo can also lights up when she uses her power too.

She spent most of her time in Duviri in the Joy spiral, playing with Mathila and Thrax until the executions started

Mathila taught her how to play the Shawzin and a few other instruments, and also how to dance.

The execution she fears most to this day is when Lodun decided to get creative and hang her instead of just impale her. The scar around her neck from the rope never healed properly. She does not like being touched on the neck, even by people she cares about. She still has nightmares about this.

She doesn't fully trust the Lotus but plays nice with her for the Operator's sake

She looks at Operator more like a sibling than another her because they are very different.

Eden/Oppy gives her their dad's old leather jacket (which she had to crop because it was too big for her).

She initially feels like Lotus sends her to 1999 because Locke is the more easily discarded one. Although, realistically, she would have gone anyway because she doesn't want Eden to go through more than she already has. Despite being a highly trained child soldier, she is still a child - so Locke will always take on the more dangerous tasks. She is happy that she gets to 'exist' outside of the paradox with the Operator though, so she's not totally mad about it.

She ends up thanking her lucky stars that she got sent to 1999 because she loves the Hex so much. It's the first time she feels like she's had a family in a veeery long time.

Albrecht shoots her in the forehead -> right in the middle of her crescent moon tattoo. The scar only starts healing once she starts getting closer to the Hex.

She loves trying to beat Amir at the Arcade games but never does

Locke and Aoi are deep in the On-Lyne fandom. They also have Boba dates where they get together, drink Boba, and yap for hours on end.

Her and Quincy sometimes listen to spicy audiobooks just to laugh and critique them for fun. They developed a drinking game for every time the author uses euphemisms like 'member'.

She absolutely adores Eleanor, and thinks of Lettie as like the cool older sister she never had.

Arthur.... well there is SO much I can get into with Locke and Arthur's lore. Their romance is a long, slow burn. She never directly flirts with him. She is just really curious about him since he was the only member of the Hex she had trouble getting to know at first.

She spends a good amount of time in 1999 learning to play their instruments; Aoi teaches her piano, and Flare teaches her guitar.

She still has nightmares about Duviri and various executions. Arthur sings her back to sleep.

She becomes a decent cook after Arthur teaches her how. Her favourite meal is grilled cheese and tomato soup. She goes absolutely feral for it.

She plays a Bard in Amir's Fables & Frontiers game.

And that's all I can think of for now... I'll try and edit the post if I think I missed something important but that's the broad strokes of her lore!

the thing is, there are in fact levels to being insane about your OCs. because i thought i was insane about my dragon age OCs. But then i started playing warframe and it’s like a little ‘achievement unlocked’ notification popped up in my brain congratulating me for being The Most Insane Ever about Drifter. i dont remember a time in the last 10 yrs ive been inspired to create so much. wdym i wrote 5k in one day after not writing for two years and regularly draw her and Arthur together. who am i.

OHHHH I feel this in my SOUL. Shipping my Drifter with Amir awoke something in me that'd been dormant for 20 something years.

Like a fucking sleeper agent I awoke and started writing & drawing shit tons of art of them in *record* time and amounts. Everything from the padt year or two is EASILY more than I'd done in the last 2 decades combined. Shipping my blorbos reawoke my creativity in a WILD way lol
