    “the squirrel wants a squirrel… huh.” despite the fact that jax was currently at war with her older sister, he could always make a little time for farrah; time usually spent trying to coax her restlessness into action that rarely proved to be practical ( or even safe ). “that girl - cat or something? - has a dog, funny enough.” he laughed, placing his hand to the top of her head and messing her hair up. “he’d even come pre-trained.”

“ did you need something ? ”hex was busy, she’d been working on perfecting the perfect tech for months now and she was almost done. a small handheld device that could pick up the frequency transmitted by trackers one that could allow the user detect them and quickly disable the bot before it could send out a signal with their location. she hadn’t even bothered to look up from her computer until she pushed herself away from the desk that housed to her computer to the desk where the prototype was sitting the only sound in the room was the two breathing and the squeaking of her chair as she rolled from one side to the other. “ if you’re here for weapons you need to get proper clearance before you come to see me because nobody’s told me anything about new weapon requests, if you’re here for tech everything i have is already out on loan and if you’re here for my sparkling personality well - ” pushing her glasses up farther on her nose before looking over at them with a smile, “ you are in luck because i’m in a great mood today. ”

     farrah turned around to face the man and suddenly had the most confused and unamused look on her face. “ what the HELL are you talkin’ about ?? ”

       luce looked over at the woman when she heard her uttering and even though it was evident that she was just talking to herself, the blonde couldn’t help but weigh in her thought on the matter. “well, what about a hamster?” she suggested, knowing that the creature was small enough that wouldn’t be much of a hassle to take care of these days. “i mean, back in the days, hamsters are like the substitute for when someone can’t get a dog or a cat.”

      she shrugged, “ a hamster would be cool. i had one when i was like twelve. it went missing though. but you know, now that i think about it i went to a sleepover that weekend and told my brother to take care of it and he probably let it starve. he was actin’ super sketchy with me for like two weeks until i forgot about it, damn him. -- anyways, do you happen to have a hamster handy ? i don’t think im gonna be findin’ one any time soon. ”

Abigal jumped at the girl’s head raise. “Thank God, you’re up I was just about to check for a pulse.” she teased jokingly. The blonde stood up looking at the other girl. “Fine, if you want a damn pet so bad let’s go get you one. Are you coming?” she asked.

      farrah scoffed, “ yeah and get yelled at by one of the people with the sticks up their ass guarding this place ?? i wish but no thanks. ” although she wouldn’t deny that she was tempted. “ the chances of us even goin’ out there and easily findin’ a stray are slim to none anyways. ”

Although he fully expected to just be left alone at the table, in complete and utter silence as he messed around with something he found (he hadn’t told anyone about it, it wasn’t like they could find any use for it), Rafe couldn’t complain about the scene that had just unraveled in front of him. It even made him chuckle, to see so much frustration inside a tiny girl. “Tell you what – if you can find a pet that hasn’t gone crazy for human flesh, I’ll give you whatever you want.” He teased, smirking at her.

     “ okay rafe, but get this. how is that gonna work for me when all i want is an animal ? and don’t laugh at me, it’s not funny. i am being 101 % serious alright, i’m goin’ crazy. keep it up or the next time you hurt yourself i won’t warn you when i’m about to pour peroxide on your wound. ” a frustrated smirk appeared.

Ravi gave her a weird look for a long time, not even sure how they should react to her words. “The world is basically almost doomed, we’re pretty much screwed, and you want a pet,” they said, making it sound more like a statement rather than a question. “Right. Nice to know people around here got their priority straight.”

     cue the eye roll. “ oh shut up. would you rather me be complaining like everyone else here ? i’m sorry but if i’m gonna be spending the rest of my life in an apocalyptic world, i want a pet. because lets be real, dogs and cats have no idea what the hell is happening but they’re still waggin’ their tails. ”

“Unless you’ve got a cuppa in those tiny little hands of yours.. or like.. y'know a water bottle or somethin’ – gimme a minute to finish me smoke in peace, yeah?” She muttered, cigarette hanging from plump lips as she spoke. She’d gotten one of the raiders to find a pack on one of their runs.. only if it was no bother of course. Glancing out to the horizon, the soldier, took a drag of her smoke, wondering what on earth they’d be  doing right now if this ‘take-over’ hadn’t had happened. Some days were so much easier then others to get through – even if the faces of her assumed dead family still haunted her awake and asleep.

      “ i do happen to have some water but i was just gonna see if i could get one of those off of ya’ ? ” her brows rose with a slight bite of her lip. she had a somewhat puppy dog, pathetic look on her face. farrah never really smoked before everything went wrong, only at parties and things like that. but she felt like after everything she had been through she deserved to kill her lungs just a little bit more. “ i can trade ya’. ” she waved the bottle of water hoping she would agree.

“ya know, i think i like this place more at night. it’s more peaceful, and you can see the stars.” she said gesturing up at the night sky. “this camp is much bigger then i thought. even after a few days of being here it feels huge still.
