Hello! I was looking into reading Special Forces and saw you also grouped it in with Capri and THROAM—hell yeah! Looks like the fandom is super small. Would you recommend? Anything I should know before starting?

Sure!

Special Forces is actually a trilogy. Book 1 and 2 are better than 3 in my opinion. There is some major trigger warning sexual assault that goes on in all 3 books.

THROAM-hands down my favorite m/m of all time. It's hard to find because it's technically a Panic at the Disco AU between two band members but the characters are so well developed they feel like new people. It's set in the 70s and it's just so so so good.

Fic Recs

Anyone have good Hollanov fic recommendations? I like 'em smutty and angsty. The longer the better.

Sometimes in the middle of the day I remember the way Ilya moaned in relief when he kissed Shane for the first time as if he had been waiting for that moment his whole life and then I bang my head on the desk because why is this show my whole life right now.

One of my favorite subtle parts of Heated Rivalry episode 4 is seeing Ilya get progressively less interested in hooking up with women at bars during his summers in Russia and more fixated on his phone re-reading old texts from Shane while waiting for new ones.

El can't die. Forget about how it would affect Mike. How do you think Hopper will feel if he wasn't able to save El after not being able to save his first daughter Sarah? They made a point to show how messed up it was that Hopper would commit suicide without a thought to how it would affect El or Joyce but it's ok if it's the other way around? Besides this is such a repetitive plot point that was done in season one already. El's death now would completely shatter two people's lives so profoundly that they might as well die with her leaving no one with a real happy ending. The Duffers have already claimed the finale isn't like The Red Wedding where the main contender for the throne is killed. Plus, we are now explicitly being told El has committed to killing herself with Kali so where would the emotional shock value come in if we already know what will happen?

Stranger Things

I really don't understand Bylers. Mike confessed to El in front of Will that his life didn't start until he found her in the woods and that was said 6 years into his friendship with Will. A second later Mike says he fell in love with El the moment he saw her. So what is there to debate about? Honestly I don't understand. Talk to me like I'm 4 because I don't see what Byler's are seeing or saying.

TSITP Movie Predictions

I read that the movie picks up where we left off. There are a couple of scenes that were filmed but not shown including 1.) Valentine's day flashback and 2.) Conrad/Belly in the same outfits as the last scene but at the country club.

We don't know how much time has actually passed since their declaration on the train and their visit to Cousins. We do know that Conrad spent Christmas in Paris so at least a year has gone by. Belly says she hadn't been back in a long, long time which in my mind means at least 3 years or more. It also didn't escape my notice that Steven and Taylor were moving to San Francisco which is 40 minutes from Stanford. I wonder if, after graduating, Belly moves to San Francisco to be with Conrad, Taylor and Stephen. I also wouldn't be surprised if Jeremiah follows Denise to San Francisco. With everyone on the west coast and having adult working lives it makes it less feasible for everyone to make it to Cousins for the summer.

What if Conrad surprises Belly with a trip back to Cousins and to see her family. The mini is a rental because Conrad took his Range Rover back to California. Since everyone is on the west coast the house is empty. We start with them in the house alone and he proposes to her there. He then takes her to the country club to celebrate and the whole crew is there to surprise her and congratulate them. Taylor as events PR will plan the wedding and it will take place at the house as Belly always wanted. Jeremiah will cater the wedding.

Bonrad Endgame

I don't know who needs to hear this but anyone out there spiraling about how TSITP will end needs to take a breath. There is absolutely no world where Conrad and Belly do not end up together. Belly's feelings aside, Jenny has hammered us to death with the fact that Belly is IT for Conrad. Since the moment they got together, Conrad never belonged to anyone else. So much so that he hasn't had a relationship since her. I don't think he has even hooked up with someone other that my bae Agnes in four years. He told Jeremiah that she is the only person he thinks he could ever be with. He told Bely that he will never not love her. Hell, after their first kiss he told Belly she is it for him. We had a whole ass scene at Susannah's memorial where Jeremiah admits what Conrad and Belly have is impenetrable and begrudgingly gives him permission to go after her. We have been indoctrinated like a cult to believe that CONRAD WILL ONLY EVER BE HAPPY WITH BELLY but somehow he is going to end up a bachelor for the rest of his life or with some random patient named Jessica who he met on his rounds? Jenny made Conrad the most deserving character this season for a reason. He has sacrificed and suffered every episode for a reason. So Jenny is going to give Jeremiah a chance at finding real love but Conrad is going to be left pining and lonely for the REST OF HIS LIFE ? I don't care what anyone else thinks, Jenny loves Conrad more than she loves Belly. She wants this man to be happy and satisfied. Sure there will be fake outs. This we know. Conrad has to be in Brussels and Belly signed a year lease in Paris so in the short run they will literally only have Paris. They will part ways but that makes sense for the story. Belly needs to grow up and finish what she started in Paris but she will eventually come back to the states and to Conrad. That is what infinite means. Never ending love. Jenny didn't mark their love as boundless to leave them single and apart. We have seen Jenny manipulate fans this entire season into thinking there was actually a chance for Team Jeremiah while in actuality staying incredibly faithful to the books. She won't just magically change the ending as a gotcha moment. We will get a Bonrad ending, the scenes on how we get there might alter slightly but they will end as one.

In Taylor's Defense

I see a lot of people calling Taylor a terrible friend for trying to calm Belly in the bathroom saying it's her dream wedding and it's Jeremiah, etc. I don't think she's a terrible friend but rather extremely protective of Belly. All she's ever heard about Conrad is that he leads Belly on, confuses her, tears her up inside and then leaves. She has been weary of Conrad's intentions since the beginning of the summer wondering why Conrad hadn't left for California yet and was still at Cousins without telling Belly when he would leave. She sees him as a manipulator. When Belly stars spewing all these confessions she thinks it's just weed induced cold feet. When Belly mentions Conrad it clicks that Conrad's presence is starting to confuse her. Bringing up Jeremiah was her way to calm her cold feet and bring her back to reality. I also think it's the first time Taylor is hearing that this isn't Belly's perfect wedding. Belly just told her how incredible the bridal shower and the bachelorette party has been.

This is not a diss to Conrad. I'm Team Conrad but just making observations

In Belly’s defense less than a month after their sexy time in the guest bedroom, Conrad did not in fact, “take care of everything” for prom and forgot the corsage. He then proceeded to treat her badly enough at the dance to get her to break up with him. So his “how could you not know?” is a little disingenuous. She isn’t a mind reader. Let’s keep in mind that the first time they almost kissed she took it to mean they were starting something so she broke up with Cam only for Conrad to downplay it like it was nothing. He was too hot and cold for Belly to pin down his feelings clearly. Considering this was her first real relationship it’s a miracle she wasn’t a mess the whole time she was with him. Just the look he gives her when she walks into the house in the first episode of season two was deadly. And this was two months after they broke up. Oh and let’s not forget his “I knew I shouldn’t have started anything with you” at the funeral. That doesn’t exactly scream you’re the love of my life. No girl in their right mind would think he loved her based on his behavior at the time.
