This plus-size yoga teacher proves there is no such thing as a “yoga body” - Full video
Nothing To Lose is a dance work by Force Majeure that showed at the Sydney Festival and the Melbourne Dance Massive Festival this year. It’s the first major dance work in Australia by fat people, exploring fat bodies through movement. I desperately wanted to make it down south to see the show but I couldn’t afford it. One way I (and you!) can see it is through the feature documentary about the production.
Kelli Jean Drinkwater’s pozible campaign for the Nothing To Lose Documentary is 6 days from the deadline and it still needs about $7000. If that figure isn’t achieved in the next 6 days they won’t see any of that money. If you are local to Sydney there are some rad rewards, but if you are far away there are awesome posters and tote bags you can score if you pledge your support.
This is part of Australian fat activism history, and I really want to see it get fully funded. Please share this widely (lol) amongst your networks so we can make it happen! SUPPORT THE NOTHING TO LOSE DOCO!

I just found this blog and I’m in tears I’ve never seen someone with a body like mine dancing like this and it’s amazing and inspiring. Who wants to take dance classes with me? Thanks.

Dancing With Other "Curves With Moves"-esque Women
I’ve had the pleasure of working with two amazing women lately, Sarah (middle) and Lexie (right), and let me tell you…they are FIERCE!
It’s so refreshing to be in a studio with like minded women who just want to dance and have fun. We aren’t the tallest or skinniest girls in any way but our fierceness, resilience and passion will command that attention. I can look to both of them and know that there is a reason why we do what we do and that people will respect it, like it, love it, or hate it but it will grab attention - good or bad. I used to be so self absorbed in how I can stand out and prove to others that I can dance just as good, if not better, than the skinny or fit girl next to me. But now it’s about MORE than that! It’s building awareness of other dancers like me and showing the world that we exist and are not to be missed!
Currently I am working on a workshop (well…werqshop OWW!) series with Sarah that we are hoping to launch in the late Fall. Sarah and I have different dance backgrounds yet collaborate so well and have taught each other so much (Sarah is currently teaching me how to double turn without being dizzy haha). It’s refreshing to build with someone else whose had the same struggles as a dancer. We bond off moments like that and grow from the experiences together. I’m ecstatic to announce the werqshop series real soon!
Lexie and I have been dancing together for about 7 years now. We met in college…funny story
:::queue dreamy throwback rewind music::::
I was the VP of our college dance company when Lexie auditioned. She seemed quiet and reserved and kept to herself most of the audition. I actually thought she was being bitchy or antisocial. But when she danced for us- SHE DANCED! She commanded attention. Your eyes caught her and you couldn’t look away. I’ve been in awe of her ever since and immediately befriended her. The rest is herstory.
You know there was definitely a time where if the three of us went on stage people would’ve look at us funny, and some people might still feel that way. I’m happy to know that nowadays society’s mindset has shifted to embracing and loving our bodies. We’ve seen it the Dove campaign’s, plus size models and even singers ….but now…. it’s time to show it through dance!
These girls are amazing, and I’m lucky to have found curvy girls with amazing moves. And I know there are more of us out there! So shoot me an email if you’re in NYC and dance - [email protected]
