She hardly needs to run, and instead was just very skilled at blending right in with passing crowds. So much so that she hadn’t even need to walk very far to escape the sight of the other, her most current victim of theft. Except… in keeping close by, she overhears the targets cries.
It’s one thing to steal from the rich, but to steal from someone in the same situation as her. She couldn’t do it. From there she let the crowd pass her by, pausing in her steps until everyone walked right by her and left her in the momentary clearing. At least until the next crowd came by.
At that point she heads back to the fox eared male and holds the pouch back to him at chest height. “Here. Sorry.” From here she could either, walk off or stick around to see what he had to say.
She’s not walking off. “You struck me as the rich type… “
“Me? Rich?” The heartiest of laughs, all at his own expense. She really wasn’t very well-informed, was she? The kitsune were rare and beautiful creatures, sure, but they were secluded in the mountains. One would have far more luck getting money from selling their pelts, but he’d no intention of lying down and letting her kill him for a little gold.
Taking the pouch back into his hands, it was quickly deposited back within the folds of his kimono, with no harm or foul either way. She’d been nice enough to give it back to him, so obviously she couldn’t have been that bad a person. Somebody else could lecture her anyway if she got caught again.
“I wish. Then I wouldn’t have to worry about getting by from meal to meal. Well, I suppose I could go hunting in the forest, but human food smells so good that when I’m in a town, I just can’t help myself!” Just the thought made him inhale deeply, enjoying the variety of aromas subtly playing atop the air. Imagination far more powerful than reality, he might’ve drooled then and there, had he not recalled the more important matter at hand: somebody had thought he was wealthy.
“But my fur sure does give the impression, right? No need to be shy, you can say so. It’s beautiful, I know. Almost entrancing in its subtle shine...”
