Alexis Balaska // Immortal Thirty-Two // Tailor // Fate
TW: DEATH MENTION (INCLUDING ANIMAL)
Alexis was born eons ago. No, not that many– keep going. Being the daughter of Zeus had its blessings as well as its curses. Atropos took them both with a grain of salt. As centuries passed she did as she was born to do– she cut thread. She was the eldest of the three sisters that controlled the fate of the living. They were deemed The Fates due to their jobs and Alexis had the specific task of cutting the thread of one’s life, determining when they would take their last breath and meet death.
Years felt like seconds to Alexis as an immortal being. As time passed the world changed so she knew she had to adapt, hence calling herself Alexis. A name like Atropos wasn’t one a person would commonly hear. Fashion came and went and trends always seemed to be revived. Alexis had seen it all. Life could be dull and monotonous, but still she did the same thing every day. She cut threads of life from the Underworld only for the poor, deceased souls to be dragged down. She did this with a sense of pride, but also duty. Death followed Alexis everywhere she went and she began to find solace in it.
Waking up in Evermore was a bit of a shock for all three of the fates. None of them had seen it coming, literally, and it was a struggle living there at times. Being stuck in a town with no escape was horrific to Alexis. She had no escape and felt like she was being suffocated by four walls until access to the Underworld was found. Even being able to go back down she could not go anywhere else besides Evermore and it drove her insane.
Alexis still did as she should though and traveled to the Underworld to cut thread after thread. Above, in Evermore, the sisters had a tailor shop where Alexis worked away during the day and then in the Underworld in between. She continues her work as a Fate while trying to make a living in town sewing clothes. It was all very monotonous, but Alexis’ life always had been.
The woman dreams of more, she wants to touch Olympus one day and get out of this town with her sisters. She will do her job as a Fate until she ceases to exist but she wants to experience more than life in a dull town when she’s not busy doing her work.
Alexis has a strong sense of intuition, she cannot see the future like Lachesis seeing as she is the fate that represented the future, but whenever something bad was going to happen she had a strong feeling in her gut. It came with the territory of being a fate.
She absolutely is NOT a pet OR plant person. Every plant she’s ever owned has mysteriously died and she doesn’t want a pet to test the theory further.
Alexis is a very morbid person and that is reflected in both her own personal style and her home. There’s (real) skulls and bones on her shelves and creepy accent decor to compliment the black hues of the furniture and curtains. She finds comfort in the reminders of death.
When she talks she knows she can come across rude. She’s not trying to be, she is just very guarded and does not trust easily. Making friends is difficult for her and relationships sound torturous so she doesn’t let herself catch feelings. She isn’t close to many people aside from her sisters. There’s many times when Alexis finds herself feeling lonely and fills the space in her bed, and heart, with another body for the night.
Get on her bad side and her tongue will be as sharp as her heart. She can be cruel if she needs to be but prefers the path of civility. Being on the receiving end of her anger doesn’t result in anything great– for the other person. Some would say the other could possibly receive a death sentence.
Some would call Alexis mysterious, some could call her strange, regardless she does carry herself with a sense of mystery. Her presence often gives people an uneasy feeling and she knows that. There’s just something about her that seems to throw the vibe off at times and it makes her wonder if it’s just the resting bitch face or if she does scare people away for some reason.
Her sense of style is very…her. Think witchy aesthetics meet Greek mythology. Long, flowy skirts and dresses in hues of black, purple, and green. Lace accents in her clothing and a lot of gold jewelry. She doesn’t like super tight clothing, preferring the breathability of loose and light fabrics. She has both of her ears pierced all the way up, a nose stud, and septum ring. Her sense of style isn’t super loud, but it’s definitely unique and she doesn’t care who has judgements against it. Don’t get her wrong though– she can rock a short dress with heels and all the glam that comes along with it.
She’s morally gray in the sense that if there was a hurt animal she’d tell someone to put it out of their misery. She doesn’t always make the best decisions and they usually end in hurting people. She’s not evil. She knows right from wrong and her morals are in the right place, but she often blurs the lines of good and wrong. She has regrets, who doesn’t, but living as long as she has meant she definitely has some big ones. Her actions make her think about her next approach on matters, and she’s usually able to correct a mistake no matter how dire it was.
Alexis often finds herself visiting the Underworld alone, late at night when the rest of the town is asleep. She finds solace in the place, gaining a calm sense when she would sit and listen to the sounds of the souls she cursed to an eternity in the River Styx. She has very few regrets about the lives she’s ended, but isn’t quite sure why it brings her so much peace to be around death. Perhaps it’s because it’s all she’s known her whole existence.
Alexis is not a fragile person but she knows where her weaknesses are. Not that she would ever admit them. She may come across as brash but deep down she’s very warm hearted. When she cares about someone she goes all in which is why she tries to avoid it all together. She only needed her sisters, she has always told herself, and it’s her job to look after them. She can’t let other people get in the way of that and ruin the flow of life’s fate.
