I gotta say...Blue Flag is something else in its approach to the topic of queerness because it tries to recontextualise it from multiple topics. Spoilers but just a few vague examples.
Oh, this girl who looks like a guy thief? Actually, she's strongly acespec coded and values friendship over romance. She's sick and tired of being judged and needing to conform...but that also sometimes makes her inconsiderate to people who have grown up with those boxes and have to unlearn them...and yet she still is one of the kindest and most forgiving characters anyway. The guy who reacted in a homophobic way? He's told off for it but also he explains why he reacted that way and the author leaves it to us to villainise him or not while his gay friend ends up forgiving him and they mend their relationship slowly, understanding each other because you CAN be friends with people who don't think the same way you do (because life and people are complicated and more than their views, sometimes). The love triangle where you always wanted the girl to end with the second lead? Well, she does but their relationship was more about them helping the other rediscover and also find who they wanted to be, which ended in an amicable breakup. And the lesbian who was pining and in love with her friend and keeping it hidden from everyone? Her anger at society is treated seriously but so is how unfair she was to those around her for being angry at them when they literally didn't know. And oh, she ended up with what looks to be a guy and it's never confirmed whether if that was a decision she made still being a lesbian or if she is actually bisexual. What's more important is that she was happy in her choices because happiness is more than what you were born with.
And they all talk about it and fight to understand each other and call each other out and sometimes get it wrong, sometimes get it right, and all throughout we never hear an objective "right or wrong" because different people will live off of different principles and sometimes they can coexist and sometimes they need to fight and be cruel to find how to love each other again and sometimes they need to fo their separate ways and no one is simply cruel or kind just because and alweshrhsjejrhrhrkwe

Yes! Since I've made this blog with plenty of time (currently writing this on 22/03/2026) to allow people to have a lot of time to create whatever they want, I will be making a collection closer to the fest date. When I do, I will link it here and on the introductory post, too.
☆ What media can I create?
Anything is allowed! If you want to write a fic, poetry, or even just bullet points of your ideas. You can make art: physical or digital. You can make edits, both video and photos. This is not a fest just for writing, but rather for any creative media!
☆ Can I make something that is NSFW?
Yes, you can! Any themes and topics are welcome, but please ensure that you are tagging your work correctly and you give any necessary warnings. If a work does not have the appropriate warnings in a post, it will not be reblogged on this account.
☆ How much of an influence does the video game need to have on my work?
It can be as little or as big as you would like! You can take major plots from the game, or just a certain scene! You can take character inspiration, or just create a farming au based on a farming sim. The possibilities are endless. As long as it is clear that you have taken some inspiration from a video game, then you are all good!
☆ How accurate does my work have to be in relation to the video game?
Following the previous question, it can be as accurate as you want, or hardly accurate at all! Once again, as long as the inspiration and video game connection is clear, you're good! This is not a high-pressure fest, and so the work is in your hands, and you are free to use that however you want!
☆ Does my work have to be finished on the 12th?
Nope! Wips and unfinished work are welcome, I understand that sometimes finishing work can be a big ask. If you want to post/upload the start of your piece on the 12th and finish it at a later date, that is fine! Bullet points, sketches, first chapters, anything is welcome. All levels of completion will be accepted into the collection/shared on the blog.

Yes, of course! I will try my best to share any work posted after the 12th and will continue to do so until the fest restarts next year (That depends on how it goes this year tbh lol, we shall see if people want to do this again next year!)

Nope! As stated, you can add as much or as little as you would like. The equivalent for other media (such as digital art, edits, physical media) is the same! Post as much or as little as you want.

it might be January now, but we shouldn’t let that stop us from pausing and giving thanks for all of the joint posts, flirty post-race interviews, and homoerotic drivers parade moments that 2023 provided.
the year started strong with Alex being deranged about George on the Fast and the Curious podcast and posting about George’s birthday (#BadBoys4Life). George also moved to Monaco at some point and would later talk about how now that he was around Alex all the time, he was the happiest he had ever been in his life (this is a verbatim quote offered up completely freely fyi).
but all that was a merely precursor for things to come.
indeed, we had driver’s parades galore, and umbrella moments literally whenever it was wet (this feels true, don’t fact-check me on it). we had heart eyes so big before Vegas that it literally made the official F1 highlights video. we had George breaking into the Wiliams garage AGAIN. Alex said he would eat George if they were the last two people on earth, and all of the tumblr girlies obsessed with the erotic thematics of cannibalism lost their minds (it’s me, i’m tumblr girlies). we had George being president of the Alex fan club before Mexico, and Alex making dick jokes about a photo of George. George was bragging about being at Alex’s parent’s house, and when they filmed the 2019 rookie video, Liberty Media literally had no choice but to separate them with Lando, lest they start making out right then and there.
a year in review would not be complete, however, without due consideration paid to the JOINT POSTING, which is rightly reserved for only the most important of Galex dates. the cancellation of Imola brought us The Monaco Run joint post (aka a hard launch, let’s be real), and the machinations of Netflix brought us The Padel Date (authors note: if other drivers were involved in the Padel Date, i have deleted that information from my brain, and i don’t want to hear about it. and anyways, it doesn't matter because according to George's story, only Alex was there!! no other drivers need apply).
it’s difficult to place any joint post above another for they're all special in their own way, but i need to start a whole new paragraph for The Monza Road Trip. what a weekend to be alive and on tumblr and obsessed with George and Alex. fresh off the love fest that was Zandvoort (considered in depth further on), the two of them were on top form all weekend (it was another albon defense masterclass and we got SIX alboints!!). we had an umbrella moment. Sky gave us a long-form post-quali interview with just the two of them so that they could engage in flirty ribbing and play footsie. and to cap it all off, George told anyone who asked (and many people who didn’t) all about how they were driving home together, just the two of them, alone. there were breakdowns in group chats the internet wide, and i spent approximately one million hours wondering who would drive. as we later learned, even though it was Alex's car, George drove (like a madman). erotic to me! you simply love to see it, you simply love to imagine situations about it.
while Silverstone 2023 will go down in history as the day that we lost Alblondo, Galex carpooled to the track, and George was featured in Alex’s photo dump loitering by his motorhome with his feet out, it must be chiefly remembered for the frankly iconic press pen flirting that occurred. George literally crashed Alex’s interview to make sure that the world knew he was a “warrior”, as he had sustained a minor back injury in the car and was bleeding through his fireproofs. i could literally write ten thousand words and not even scratch the surface of this interaction. i simply urge you to rewatch.
but for the top moment of the year, in this writer’s humble opinion, we must turn to Zandvoort and the second-row Galex lockout. the head-to-head of their quali laps was deeply sexual, and George was out and out praising Alex on the radio. the driver’s parade gave us frankly uncooth flirting, and Alex was even flirting on instagram! i was dreaming of a Galex podium. George was dreaming of a Galex podium! i have never known such hope in my life! sadly the weather gods were not on our side, and despite Alex staying out for one million laps on slicks, Galex erotically spraying each other with champagne will have to remain in our dreams until 2024.
seven hundred words down, only one thing remains: to beg for the release the Qatar hot lap tape. when we found out that George had taken Alex on a hot lap before the Qatar GP, i remember thinking that i might be able to live with never seeing the video of it if it meant that they did it just for fun instead of as part of a PR stunt. that, my friends, was a lie. we now know that it wasn’t planned at all, and Alex had simply been jogging by and hadn’t been able to resist going for a ride with George. and still!! i need the tape!!!! mercedes admin, name your price.
while this is by no means comprehensive, this lil walk down memory lane was very fun for me, and i hope you had fun too! but more than anything, i hope 2024 blesses the galaxies of the world with [redacted for anti-jinxing reasons]. i’ll be praying nightly.

karting/early single seaters
Alex thinks they met in 2011 but the footage in georges flip phone says he knew alex back in 2009.
Their first actual interaction (so far as they've told the world) was when alex was world champion with the intrepid karting team and bc he was their reference driver he was asked to help pick the drivers who were quick to replace him when he moved up and he picked george (and charles) so they were then part of that same intrepid driver programme for a while. Interestingly, alex was always at least one year above him bc of their ages and george says the fact they didn't really race directly against each other before 2016 was probably why they became such good friends.
They did a deep dive of their camera rolls from this time on twitch a couple years back and talked about the oldest pictures they have of each other in their camera rolls (1:25:36) which was cute.
2017
2017 is the year george basically lived with alex. They were also sharing a trainer whilst alex was competing in gp2 and george was in gp3. George was doing mercedes sim work at their factory so rented a flat in milton keynes near where alex lived but according to alex that rent was wasted money bc george had more meals at alexs' house than he did that year. Also as detailed in those links, the Great Mountain Biking Incident of 2017 occurred at this time so we have the fun mental image of george literally wheeling alex into a&e on a wheelchair bc that is an actual event that happened.
2018
George and alex both in f2 fighting for the title year wooooo!! They never really fought on track but we did get fun tidbits like when alex pipped george to the win at silverstone bc george had a slow pit stop and giggled about it in parc ferme (5:42) & these post session interviews.
also some incredible photoshoots.
2019
Promotion to f1!!! We started the year at winter testing and this nugget that they have both accepted that they are actually tied together by the strings of fate. They're doing fun media stuff like karting and bullying each other over percentage of apexs hit at the skypad (video). 2019 also the start of the umbrella sharing. They were just together a lot… more skypad analysis!!!
2019 also has MY personal favourite galex moment which was hockenheim 2019 and the 45 minute phone call galex had on the way home after george missed out on scoring what would have been his first point in f1 and only point of the season.
There was also the summer break and enjoying a training camp together, exchanging infections etc. Alex also took george to meet lily for the first time, bc that’s a normal thing to do.
There was also the rookie of the year vid, and the rookie season review vid at the end of the year. Much was happening.
2020
The year started with f1 trying to race during a global pandemic. Fun! On the singular media day before everyone realised just how stupid that was they were being annoying. The lockdowns did give us the twitch streams. George was initially so bad at virtual racing he had to secretly consult alex's brother for help behind alexs back. George was also actively seeking alex out like a missile at any given opportunity and at one point felt necessary to declare that he wasn't alexs boyfriend when someone asked if alex was going to be streaming that day. Anyway my lockdown twitchscapades tag has a post with a playlist of all the streams that haven't been lost or deleted if you want to feel joy and have a spare million hours.
Racing resumed in July with the covid team bubbles and within two races and one qualifying session george was defending alexs honour to sky sports and the world in a truly remarkable fashion.
At the end of the year alex was unemployed....even more tragic than this loss was that alexs career difficulties were so extreme he started ghosting george, which devastated him to the extent he needed to publicly drag him for it.
There was also george asking lily to post alexs n*des on instagram and lily responding with if anyone has them it would be you which was perhaps the last time george had access to his own social media password.
Despite george not liking it they celebrated alexs first podium by going golfing! and reverse! George was also gifted an alex albon signed autograph card for christmas and said that he'll put it somewhere special x
2021
The beginning of 2021 was during lockdown and there was more fun virtual gps except the only two drivers doing it were george and alex so they were just bitching and gossiping and threatening to steal strategies and abu dhabi 2016 each other. Particular shoutout to the time they had a virtual race on valentines day and alex put a suit on for it and george was baffled. Immediately after valentines day was georges birthday which lily used to thank george for letting her borrow his boyfriend from time to time.
Then the season started with george enduring the season alexless and not letting anyone forget about it. Alex was turning up to races after being locked in the simulator until the early hours posting stuff like this on instagram and otherwise stumbling over his words after getting whipped on the ass.
Perhaps the defining moment of the galex 2021 season was george pushing the williams board to sign alex so heavily that they had to actively shut him out of proceedings. Also at this time there was this cute congrats from alexs family and one from alex to georgie about the mercedes seat.

They truly lost every inch of personal space in 2022 like. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. The back signing Hello.
2022 had alex having his appendix out, nearly dying and alexs family updating george whilst alex was in the icu and then when alex returned for the next race in signapore a couple weeks later (insane behaviour) george was like mmm audacious of him to be here.
Elsewhere alex discovered georges photoshoot and was making screensavers about it. Alex also discovered hair dye and george was making instagram stories about it.

Btw I'm not the best when it comes to genshin lore so if someone needs to correct me on something you're welcome!
Basically, I can't stop thinking about a scenario where the Flins discover all the 'children' that Varka left behind in Mondstat and keep wondering about them. They end up together, etc. And when Varka returns to Mondstat, Flins accepts an invitation to accompany him after being forced by Illuga to take some days off. They come to Mondstat, and Flins realises that apart from being a hero to his people and a well-known figure in Nod-Krai, he is also a "guide".
Flins has spent most of his life in this role too, losing loved ones and people dear to him as he carried out his mission. He is literally a flame in the darkness, who now knows only this way of life and cannot detach himself from it, as it has become part of his identity and ultimately his sole purpose in life. (From what I remember, he had suicidal thoughts but remained steadfast because he knew that Nod Krai needed protection). Seeing this role taken on by Varka opens his eyes a little.
Varka is a symbol of hope and the future for Mondstat. Apart from being a powerful warrior, he is a real support to the people around him. Literally Rosalia, Razor and Noelle, who are atypical characters but who were "taken in" by Varka. Moreover, in his role as protector, he went so far as to travel to another nation to avoid the consequences of an evil that could affect his loved ones. He does not consider this mission a burden, nor does Flins (even though one might think so; for him, it is more visceral than that). He takes it on with pride and a sense of accomplishment. He wasn't destined to become a guide; he was mainly seeking to gain power by fighting powerful enemies (from what I understand of the story), but he took on this role when he realised how important it was to others.
And that's not even what opened Flins' eyes the most. It was the love and concern that the people of Mondstat showed towards Varka. The lessons Noelle asks for to improve herself, Razor following Varka around (he's the one who taught him to speak, SO CUTE), Rosaria's disparaging remarks about him, even if we can see a hint of affection towards him in them. He hasn't seen this in a VERY long time. He saw the respect that the other Lightkeepers had for him, perhaps fear too, and Illuga's compassion tinged with guilt. And seeing Varka surrounded by the people he fights for makes him both nostalgic and intrigued.
He knows Varka from a different, more intimate perspective. He hears his doubts when he is very drunk, even though he is a happy drunk, alongside the pride he feels for his companions, of course. And he finally wonders why Varka chose to become his lover. There is the physical attraction, of course, and his power, which attracts the blond man. But there must be more to it than that. And he finally understands that Varka may have recognised himself in him. And with this new perspective, he also understands that their relationship may not be so fleeting after all. His courteous respect turns into understanding.
Perhaps Varka is the one who will finally understand his desire to continue protecting Nod-Krai after so many years, beyond the promise he swore to keep. Guides are not meant to be fully understood, because otherwise we see their weakness and our trust and belief in the security they provide us diminishes. And the only ones who can fully understand this are those who have also chosen this responsibility. Flins is not human; he will see Varka die like all his other lovers, which is why he does not want to mix with human and keeps his relationships short. But the mere thought that Varka understands his experiences and that he can guide Varka as he guides him fills him with a determination he has only ever felt on the battlefield during his first battle as a LightKeeper.
To sum up:
Just a fic where Flins gets approval from Varka's various loved ones for their relationship, while he questions their relationship + Lisa finds it funny that Jean has the same taste as the GrandMaster (an electro who has a certain appetite for lanterns)
