You're not ready for marriage if:
you’re looking forward to being a bride/groom more than being a wife/husband,
you are lonely and just need company,
you are self-serving and want everything done your way,
you are self-serving in terms of your time, effort, money & emotions,
you can’t compromise for the greater benefit,
you are unable to keep ties with your kin,
you look for an easy way out of every problem,
you don’t confront people when there is a problem and keep things inside,
you give up easily,
your expectations are sky-high,
you first look at how you’re been hurt rather than how you’ve hurt,
the physical aspect of marriage takes priority over the psychological & emotional; [lust over love],
when you would much rather take then give,
you still talk to the opposite gender without any particular reason,
you would rather spend time with friends than with family,
you tell your best friend(s) every last detail of your life,
you have a hard time apologizing and/or admitting your mistake(s),
your eye is prone to wander off to what else is in store,
you constantly compare how little you have as to others,
you have a hard time appreciating what you have and always want more,
you can’t accept the natural order of things, in terms of your role in marriage ordained by Allah to you,
you are too impatient about everything,
you don’t remember to consider whether or not what you say/do is pleasing Allah or not,
you don’t remember to consider whether or not what you say/do is pleasing your spouse or not,
you want to get married just because everyone else is getting married,
you begin a relationship with doubts on divorce,
you mind helping others in their work, because you are not obligated to,
you tend to hide and conceal the truth to save yourself,
you have unhealthy ways of expression discontentment/anger,
you see this list, find something that you do but don’t work on your flaws.
*Note:- Most of these are character related, rather than imaan related because even those with weak imaan are often increased in their iman through marriage but those with weak characters, often tend to lead to marital problems. No one is perfect, and no one is born ready for marriage since day 1, but the point is to improve ourselves and constantly improve ourselves so we can make this relationship, a lasting, blissful and blessed one. When the relationship between the husband & wife is healthy, only then can the children be raised properly and you are able to help the ummah, beyond just your home.
