oh, what foul magic has befallen him?! a once highly - decorated warrior — he who was as unyielding as belobog's foundations, found himself suddenly sitting on the couch! how can this be? even with gepard's timely warning, varka let out an ' oof ' when his nephew headbutted him : inspiring the behemoth of a man to fall down like a vanquished beast, &. now he had a comfortable seat ( &. an aching stomach ). after a few minutes, he leaned forward to ruffle gepard's hair ⸻ flashing a toothy grin at the kid.
“ HA HA HA . . . good job! you're incredibly strong, little one! keep at it &. you'll be able to knock me down to the ground! you also managed to catch me off - guard! ”
When a character is assured enough in their own power that they are completely relaxed in dangerous situations??? When that same character becomes tense and uncomfortable in the mundane because they don't have a framework for peace?????? When they help navigate violence for another character and in return that character helps them navigate softness??????????? That's all, your honour

❛ it is usually considered good manners to be earlier than what was agreed. not too early, of course. ❜ the lightkeeper's words are soft, yet firm lips neither smiling nor frowning as glowing candle-esque eyes observe the grandmaster rather . . openly. curiosity burning beneath the seams of mortal form, for flins being tired in a human way was always something odd to see. worrying nonetheless as the fae has come to understand, that it was detrimental to the people they have started to consider their allies / friends while working as a lightkeeper. always studying, wanting to understand more & more. ❛ the walk around the premises can be done alone, grandmaster varka. you should sleep more. i know that humans need more than just naps, here & there. ❜
at this point , varka was far accustomed to how quiet flins can be. it was unnerving , yet a . . . comfort. for a man whose soul roared &. noise occupied his mind almost every waking minute , the lightkeeper's presence had the grandmaster's shoulders relax. tension in unyielding muscle / bone recede into nothing ⸻ for that , his smile grew. “ what, &. leave you out there all by your lonesome? HA! you know very well that i can't allow that. isn't too much sleep also detrimental to one's health? ” he got up &. saunters ever closer with hands on hips. like a moth to flame grandmaster was.
HMM, LOOK WHO'S FINALLY AWAKE! ❝ Oh me, oh my, aren't you always grumbling about how I never arrive on time? And now that I'm slightly earlier than necessary, I find you fast asleep. ❞ a pause, lightless gaze shifting from the notebook in his hand to that familiar grin, eyes tracing the exhausted shadows stubbornly clinging to it ❝ I can handle this by myself if you're not up to it. ❞ kind of disappointing if that is the case, though.
“ wh — ” oh archons , was lohen standing right there all this time ? he would not put it past him to avoid waking him up on purpose , but the vice captain's voice was enough for varka's grogginess to ebb somewhat ⸻ especially following what he said. “ let me grab a cup of coffee &. — ” gaze trails to the notebook in lohen's hand. “ we'll tackle that together, yeah? ”
“ . . . huuuurgh. ” waking up after a nap - turned full on sleep felt like he waded through mud — especially since he barely slept these past few days. yet he greets whomever ( or whatever ) stood before him with an exhausted smile &. that signature grin of his. “ hey there, friend. you're here early. ”
@endaether : The sun dips below the horizon before them, their legs dangle over the edge, a steep greeting them should they lean too far forward. As citrus rays brighten their features, Clive feels himself dip into melancholy. Ease shifts to dread. Suddenly, he is glad to share this moment with Varka. If anyone understood his agony, it was his dear friend, who felt an even deeper connection to nature than he. Where once the warriors sat side-by-side, the leader leans to close the small gap between them, pressing the edge of his shoulder to the apex of the others bicep. ❛ I wonder how many more of these sunsets we have left, ❜ Clive mourns, pressing closer if only to further comfort his companion. Shuffling now, their arms fully pressed together, a steeled hand laying over Varka's in support. ❛ This is why the mother crystals must meet their end, before we all do. ❜
𝐀 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐄𝐓, 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐅𝐔𝐋 𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐋. warmth blanketed the swordsman like a shroud, & he slouched forward as if taking a long - deserved nap. unbound to any location, varka's presence was like the wind : fickle / unpredictable. guilt sunk its venomous talons into his very soul when he learned of the hideaway's original base ⸻ countless lives lost . . . & no time to grieve. his breath trembled as he lets go of it, watching an invisible cloud of mist tumble into the waters below. even if lithification wrestled his remaining arm ( armor encased the right ; mechanisms in place to force it to move ), he would have fought. that is the sole meaning to a dominant's life, right ?
piercing blues glance to a shadow beside him. he need not look at them fully to know it was clive. ❛ need an escape as well ? ❜ he asked with that signature rumble : the sound low & friendly. the kind that someone does when they are desperately holding their sorrow back. when his companion spoke of their limited time & the mother crystals, varka's gaze flits to the hand laid over his right one. ❛ to be quite honest, i'm pretty damn lucky i even lasted this long. ❜ unless a dominant extended their life via unnatural means, they seldom lived long. despite how it hurts, he turned his half - petrified hand palm - up.
❛ i'll make sure to avoid swallowing pieces of them when i prime, ❜ the vagabond laughed, yet despite the attempt at levity there was razor - sharp resolve woven between every word. ❛ before you ask : i'll stick around & lend a hand. gotta keep an eye on the young ones here ⸻ & you, of course. ❜
