the way Change by Louis and As It Was by Harry have ….very similar concepts .. how did I just now realize that 🙃
‘I want you to hold out the palm of your hand, why don’t we leave it at that.’ + ‘Ringing the bell, and nobodys coming to help.’ + ‘In this world it’s just us, you know it’s not the same as it was.’
versus
‘Everythings changed outside, somtimes I wonder why. If you need, you can call on me. I’ll be the friend you need. Cause everythings changed outside, but I’m the same inside.’
Both of the songs are talking about how life has changed and everything is different and not the same. Harry is almost like asking for help in his song, Louis is offering help in his. To deal with the life changes.
And the ‘Change’ ends with the sentiment of everything has changed but I’m the same as in I’m still here for you. ‘As it was’ ends with the thought of ‘I don’t wanna talk about the way that it was/ I dont wanna talk about who’s doing it first’ - which I interpret as wanting to stop rehashing the past and just embracing the now.
