It’s been 7 years since Endgame but honestly it would’ve been way better if Steve had died in the battle with Thanos. His ending will never not piss me off and I truly don’t think I have seen a bigger last minute character assassination than his.
Imagine… it’s the final show down before the portals open. Steve is the last man standing, he’s giving Thanos absolutely everything he’s got, every last bit of strength that you think he’s going to fail. The portals open, the battle continues, Tony comes in the stone swap and the snap. The battle is over and as they all mourn Tony, Steve suddenly clutches his chest, groaning in pain kneeling over. Bucky and Sam are at his side in an instant, in his final moments he passes the mantle to Sam, tells Bucky he’s with him till the end of the line, then his eyes close with finality.
Steven Grant Rogers, the super-soldier, the Captain America, the First Avenger fought for humanity so hard that even his super-soldier heart could not take it.
And with the deaths of the First Avenger and the hero who kicked off the cinematic universe, this era of Marvel has come to an end.
