mike: english major minoring in creative writing
will: fine arts major minoring in art history
dustin: astrophysics major minoring in computer science
lucas: kinesiology major minoring in sports management
jane: primary education major double minoring in linguistics and literacy
max: media/communications major minoring in psychology
dustin goes to some ivy-league or very high-ranked science school out of state because he’s an obvious genius. he’s obsessed with the campus observatory and joins early computer science clubs aswell as organises science fairs/competitions for fellow students. keeps the gang updated via letters and long distance phone calls.
lucas, max & will all go to the same school. lucas and max had planned this from the start as they wanted to be together, will was totally coincidentally he had applied for a fine arts scholarship without realising the two would end up there. happy accident! the 3 of them share an off campus apartment together. their apartment also serves as a ‘hub’ for the gang where mike, dustin , el stop by when on break/vacation.
mike attends a nearby liberal arts college about 1/2 hours away from hawkins (he lives the closest to hawkins out of the party) he has a shared dorm with another english major so his room is filled with notebooks and typewriters.
eleven’s school is out of state near the ocean, coastal city vibes. her campus has open spaces , greenery and small local shops/cafes. it allows her to be more independent but not isolated, she’s gained a close-knit friends and even joined some clubs (children’s literature? volunteer clubs?)
max skateboards in between classes which makes her often late, she runs the campus magazine and it’s hand drawn and photocopied. she also participates in small student media projects which she sometimes recruits will for the art.
will becomes more confident in expressing himself in college, he starts embracing humour and sarcasm (potentially from lucas & max teasing him). he goes to college parties, and is more free to explore his style without hawkins.
lucas is really nerdy about stats & exercise science that max teases him a lot. and he likes being apart of friendly competition like arcade games , ping pong / other sports challenges. he has his walkman on constantly (influenced by max) he uses it while he works out.
