Spooky movies for the JDATE fan's soul

its spooky movie month! here are some recommendations to give you those good old JDATE brain feelings!

Event Horizon: Scifi Horror. A missing ship returns from the depths of space. It’s missing it’s crew but seems to have brought something else back with it. (I don’t want to give any spoilers but there was some definite inspiration from this one. ALSO heavy gore and body horror warning for the last quarter of this film.)

Mulholland Drive: Surreal Psychological Thriller Noir. (you might remember this one being referenced in the first book, Dave ‘recommends’ it to John’s uncle) At first you’ll be like ‘wait what’s the connection?’ then you’ll get to it. Trust me. (I actually have a lot to say about JDATE and Lynch films but I’ll refrain from infodumping, that is a post for another time)

In The Mouth Of Madness: Horror. Meta Horror. An insurance investigator is sent off to find a mysterious horror writer and the missing manuscript of his next novel. The most campy option on this list.
