Sabre girl do NOt go into that water, I am not getting good vibes from it
- AxolAxololt-Lolt
"I uh..."
He pauses to look down into the water despite not being able to see past the surface level of murky blackness.
"I wasn't planning on it? Why, can you see something in there..?"
He sounds wary now, hesitant to take the oars in his hands again and continue on rowing towards what is presumably the exit. His progress is slow but steady as his boat moves closer to the staircase, leaving ripples behind in the water.
The movement gets stronger and the ripples from whatever is in there begin to become closer to waves in an ocean than from the movement of any normal ocean-bound... thing. Sabre takes quick notice of this and starts rowing faster.
This contains dark content and, although I'm unsure if there's a proper name for it, lots of nonconsensual grabbing, dark rooms, and claustrophobia if you squint. Read at your own risk.
Subject 1: Favremysabre Joined The Game
“What-?”
The hero couldn't say more than that single word as his vision flickered and his movement was restricted. For a few agonizing moments, he was suspended in nothingness, stuck staring at a 2d loading screen. There was no sound, no feeling, just nothing but that screen in front of him.
Then, he finally loaded in wherever he was sentenced to and collapsed onto the floor. Under normal circumstances, he would've landed on his feet and ready to explore, but these weren't exactly what he'd call normal circumstances.
Sabre wasn't here by choice, after all.
He staggered to his feet, feeling oddly fatigued. Currently, he noticed, he was in a box-like room with pale blue concrete walls and laminate gray floors. The popcorn ceiling was an off-white color and had red and black stains on it, which didn't bode well for the player.
There was some kind of sound that Sabre couldn't precisely describe, almost like the crashing of a waterfall mixed with the roar of a storm, but without any traces of liquid moving or damage occurring. This prompted him to do a spin in place, getting a full look of the room. There wasn't any other trace of the noise but a small, white, cylinder with a speaker on the top.
There were a few other objects in the room with him, most noticeably being a whiteboard on one wall with a lot of writing in it, but there was also a potted plant in a corner and a pile of pastel pillows in the opposite corner. Seeing nothing else to do here, he approached the white board and was surprised to see that the writing on it was written in his native language- not the writing system he had gotten used to while living with the steves.
“Welcome to the Fear Factory, willing participant.”
He paused after reading that first line, knowing very well that he was in no way a willing participant. He didn't even know what a “fear factory” was! Maybe reading more would explain some things?
“Please continue to the door on your right after reading the following instructions.”
Well that wasn't right. Sabre had seen all 4 walls in this room, and none of them had any doors on them. He turned to look over his shoulder regardless and his expression dropped. Somehow, there was now a heavy looking steel door stood in the middle of the once empty wall to Sabre's right.
He stared at it in silence, blinking a few times to test if it would vanish. It stayed put defiantly, so he figured that it was real. His voice dropped low in a whisper, despite how there was no one around to hear him even if he screamed, “what is wrong with this place..?”.
He balled his hands into fists for comfort and looked back at the whiteboard. The writing hadn't changed. He looked back at the door. It was still there.
“Okayyy…”
He continued to read the whiteboard, mind reeling over what was happening here.
“1. You will enter a corridor that will inhabit a phobia. As you progress, the rooms will progressively be tailored to your fears.”
Sabre internally screamed, hating the sounds of this already.
“2. Continue traveling through each corridor. The amount of rooms change per participant. Your number of rooms is: 12”
“TWELVE???”, Sabre shouted in surprise. Going through ONE room designed to be his personal hell sounded like torture enough, but 12 of them??? He wasn't sure that he'd be able to make it out of here alive.
“3. Once you complete your journey, you will be given an exit to the Fear Factory and compensation for your efforts.”
Sabre didn't think that anything could make up for going through so much agony… maybe the rooms wouldn't be that bad, though? There was one final note written at the bottom of the whiteboard for him to read.
“Goodluck!
(you will need it.)”
That was threatening to say the least. Nothing about this sat right with Sabre, especially since he wasn't sure on how he got here. All he could recall was feeling dizzy all day and suddenly having a mind-splitting headache. A robotic voice that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at the same time told him “teleporting” and that was the last thing had happened before he ended up here.
Maybe he could get out of here without playing along? He checked his inventory, only to find it empty. His hoodie and jeans pockets were equally as barren, save for a bit of pocket lint. Looks like he wasn't getting out of here any other way then.
“Wait- Shadow? Dark?”, the player called out, just now processing that he was fully alone. He held up his infected hand to confirm that he was still tainted with The Darkness, needing to rule out being uninfected somehow. His fingers were still blackened with small, silver scales being scattered around his skin, so he was still saddled with that.
Oh, hold on, he didn't realize that The Darkness gave him scales. He thought that those were flecks of… glitter? The sparkly stuff in rocks? He wasn't sure, but he never looked at it long enough to figure out that it was scales… he shook his head, he has bigger fish to fry than this.
He called out his companions' names again, only to find no one there. He truly was alone, for the first time in a long while…
Slowly, the player took a deep breath, before heading towards the door. Said door was about as heavy as it looked, but Sabre managed. It would be pretty embarrassing if the savior of the Realm couldn't get a heavy door open on his own.
The room that the door led to was pitch black, causing Sabre to squint under his blindfold. He looked down to see that the flooring in this room was stone, just in extremely low light. Hesitantly, he took a step forward into the darkness, uncertain if the ground beneath him would give way into nothingness with how invisible it looked to him.
Luckily, it stayed put and he was able to step into the room without any problems. The sound from the other room was heavily muffled despite how loud it was just a step back. That was strange, but so was every other aspect of this place, so Sabre didn't question it too heavily.
He sighed, trying to steel his nerves. “Okay,”, he muttered to himself, “This isn't too bad…”. As if to prove him wrong, a loud creaking noise sounded from behind him, and before he could turn around, the door he can from slammed shut and plunged him into total darkness.
He blinked rapidly, hoping that his eyes would adjust and he'd be able to see anything at all. It felt like his blood froze over into ice, stopping in place instead of flowing through his veins. He straightened his posture out, feeling an overpowering urge to run away from here, anything to get out of this place.
To his fortune, his vision was greeted with the sight of light in the outline of a door at the end of this corridor. Yet, he didn't untense, knowing that he had to get there first. Once again, he took a deep breath, hoping and praying to Origin that it wouldn't get any worse.
His steps were slow and steady at first as he marched himself closer to the door, but as he got closer, his pace picked up faster. Of course, because everything always gets worse when Sabre believes it to have gotten to its worst, he tripped over something that he couldn't see in the dark.
He yelped as he faceplanted, quickly jumping back to his feet. Sure, his body stung from where it was smacked against the floor, but it felt dulled from the sudden adrenaline rush pulsing through his veins.
He tried to look to see what tripped him, but it was too dark to see. That was fine, he lied to himself, he'd just move on. Just as he started to keep moving towards the door that was so consistently far away, he felt something grab his arm just below his shoulder in the darkness.
“GAh-!”, he yelped again, twisting his body the opposite direction. To his horror, the thing grabbing him was a green hand with an arm that stretched off into the darkness. In a panic, he grabbed it and forcibly pulled it off of himself, horrified. It retracted into the dark, but just as Sabre got it off, another hand reaches out from the opposite side and grabbed Sabre's ankle.
He stomped on the arm as hard as he could, grimacing as he heard a loud crack from the blue arm, but it did not let go of him. Seeing as he had to get out of here as soon as possible, he pulled with as much force as he could to try to get out of the hand's grasp.
For a brief second, he thought that he had gotten lucky with how his ankle slipped out of the hand's grasp. This was encouraged by how he was given an opportunity to start running towards what was hopefully the exit door.
Although, since good things never last, he saw what felt like countless more hands and arms emerge from the dark ahead of him, making colorful walls on either side of the player.
He really kept trying to run, but in what felt like seconds, several hands grabbed onto him and all tried pulling him in different directions. Sabre reached for his sword out of habit, only for his hands to reach open air. Right, he did not have any of his items with him… damn it.
“LET GO!”, He shouted, twisting his body away as best as he could. His cries weren't heard, and if they were, who's to say that it would have done anything anyways? The door looked so close now, as Sabre struggled to move his limbs. His body screamed with pain over the fingers digging into his skin and tearing at him, grasping at the fabric of his clothing to pull him into the dark.
He tried to scream as a pale yellow hand clasped over his mouth and dug its painfully sharp fingernails into his face, but it was muffled. He stared ahead at the door, just a few steps out of his reach, his eyes blurring with tears. No one was here to see if he cried, so he didn't try to stop it.
It felt like every inch of his body was being grabbed and pulled at by hands and he hated it. It burned and stung and- nearly there! His own hand fought to reach out to the sliver doorknob, being constantly tugged aside by the overpowering hands.
Just as he felt the cool metal in his grasp, a dark hand snatched his blindfold and covered his sight. That, somehow, felt so much worse than all the other hands combined. Sure, the fabric has started to get offset from the ones pulling on his hair, but this was the first to grab the blindfold itself.
His eyes forced shut and he screamed harder, emptying his lungs into the cruel hand muffling him. He needed to get out of here NOW! He heard the door creak as he pushed it with as much force as he could, but he failed to move closer to it.
Sabre screamed again as he pushed forward with as much force as he could manage to give, desperately needing to leave. He was so close! He couldn't succumb now! He refused to.
To his horror, he tripped over the endless hands when he tried to step forward. Although, somehow, the things tearing him apart held him up. This also hurt like hell as he was suspended by the things pulling so harshly on him, but he didn't fall over.
His hands found the sides of the doorframe and he pulled as hard as he could, anything to escape this. Both to his fortune and immense surprise, the grip on most of the hands loosened when he was close enough to being out. He used this chance to push his head through the doorframe, opening his eyes and filling his lungs up when the hands on his face slipped away.
Somehow, with enough force, he struggled through the doorway and collapsed on the floor once all the hands retreated back into the dark. For now, he laid there curled up on the cold tile, trying to catch his breath and attempting to burn the memory of being grabbed so much.
Sabre is currently on a small rowboat in a giant dark room. The entire room looks like an ocean, save for a small wooden dock a short distance away in the opposite direction that Sabre is going in and a set of wooden stairs that lead up to a black door with a glowing outline at the other end of the room- where Sabre is going to. He stops rowing for a moment to look around, trying to figure out what spoke to him.
"Uhh... I thought that I was? I mean- I'm the only person in this hell that's not a part of these rooms, so... yeah, I guess I am."
... The impossibly dark water is moving as if something else in inside of it. Something large and unseen at that.
I'm gonna assume that you're not asking Sabre in character, sorry if I'm wrong-
The Fear Factory is *heavily* Project Threshold inspired and mixed in with some concepts of The Backrooms. It's basically a bunch of corridors in a straight line with a small breakroom separating them in the middle of the abyss. Each corridor is designed to inhabit a different fear, usually one that whoever is in the factory suffers from. The rooms change based on who is in there, but sometimes it'll have a room with a fear not specific to who's there to mix things up.
The people that are stuck in this place are called "Participants" and are told by a white board in the first/entrance room that they're here willingly, will receive a reward for getting out, and how many rooms they have to go through.
Oftentimes the rooms will injure and sometimes kill the participant, but while they're here, all participants will respawn as many times as it takes to get through all of the rooms. They respawn without any injuries (just lingering pain) and they have the drawback of starting back at the beginning (entrance room).
I'm writing about Sabre being sent there in a google doc currently, which is why I made this blog in the first place. I may or may not post on here when I'm done with it.
Lemme know if you wanna know anything else about it :D!!! (Sorry again if this was supposed to be an in character ask and I accidentally lore-dumped for no reason- /gen)
*...... he gets a second chicken plushie yeeted at him. This one has a pink ribbon tied into a bow around its neck.*
It hits him while he's sitting on a pile of pillows in the middle of the entrance room. He stops rubbing at his forehead and grimacing when the plushie hits him. It didn't hurt him, obviously, but now he's curious about it.
He picks it up and turns it a bit to inspect it.
"Huh... Where did you come from, little guy?"
He pats it on the head with 2 fingers, using his non-darkness infected hand. After a few moments, he puts it inside his hoodie pocket, planning on taking care of this one the best he can.
With nothing left to do, he heads towards the door that so frequently leads him to death, or worse.
*Sabre has been gifted one (1) chicken plushie for his struggles.*
Sabre is collapsed face down on the floor with a small pool of blood gathering around his head. Upon the chicken plush appearing, he hesitantly lifts his head up enough to look at him. His vision is blurred and he has one eye shut since there's too much blood flowing down it to keep it open, but he weakly reaches out to grab it. As best as he can in this state, he attempts to smile, but it's shaky and looks closer to a grimace. Although he's getting blood on the plush from his injured hands, he squishes the chicken slightly.
Sabre shuts his eyes and drops his head back down as he lets go of the chicken. It takes a few seconds of existing in agony from the massive crack in his skull and the puncture wounds in his wrists and hands, but he stops breathing.
Don't worry, he'll respawn in a few seconds. He just has to make it back to the plushie and he can keep it.
Currently, no one is in the entrance of this place.
The entrance in question is a room the shape of a box with pale blue, cement walls, a stained popcorn ceiling, and a dusty gray floor. There are a few potted plants in a corner, about 4 pillows with questionable stains in the opposite corner to the plants, and a whiteboard with some writing on it stuck on a wall. There are more pillows laid on the floor in the middle of the room, these ones not containing any marks of mysterious origins.
Sounding to be much farther away than it is, someone screams out in pain.
He is unaware that Factory is open for visitors today. Do with this what you will.
