When Gavin stumbled onto Pest the man had gone still, the life from that mans body had left sometime between when Gavin last spoke to him and while he was retrieving Brad
As if one cue, or maybe he just happened to be nearby Telamon rushed over only to be frozen in horror at the sight... How'd this all go so wrong
What happened!? Where's the Firebrand?! The Venomshank!? Please tell me you retrieved them!
He had noticed the horrid state his nephew was in, but they could deal with him later the rest of the world was something bigger they had to worry about

Telamon's ramble was broken only when Brad spoke up even if the mans voice was barely audible at this point, that made Telamon give the younger man a pitiful look but there was hint of regret in there...Damn it...

Brad tried reaching out to something or more so someone, but his eyes were fully closed by now and his breathing was shallow and far inbetween
(Gavin looked at Telamon, relieved to see someone, but instantly snapped as he blabbered on about the swords,) "MY FRIEND IS DYING! CANT YOU DROP IT FOR ONE SECOND?!" (he heaved and coughed, unsteady on his own feet.)

Telamon sighed as he shook his head, before he walked over to check on Brad's wounds but even he grimaced at the sight hell Gavin even spotted the man's face growing pale
I'm afraid there's not much I can do for him other than to comfort him...
Without waiting for a response Telamon slowly picked up Brad as he sat down and just cradled the man in his lap

For a while it was only peaceful; it was dark and quiet, nothing was disturbing the hero's well earned rest, but soon a sudden coldness struck and the man could see his breath fogging up in front of him
The 'room' Gavin found himself only had a old and creaky bed that he was currently lying down on, a closet that was missing its doors only soon an all too familiar face stepped inside it was...Telamon

Nothing about him seemed off; his voice was like it always was loud and commanding, but yet in a odd way it was comforting bringing a warmer presence into the room unlike last time with Builderman

Well...How do I say this... A few hours ago I got reports from Turitopulis that a forest fire started and quickly spiraled out of control. We don't know what or who caused it but long story short most of it has burned down beyond recovery.
Telamon spoke as he walked, leading them down a winding path but despite that grim news the man seemed oddly calm despite the horrid situation
Somehow, someone got a hold of the Firebrand and well next thing you know woosh! The entire forest and it's surroundings went all up in flames, the number of casualties are unknown so far I've tried contacting the mayor, along with his two kids but it's been radio silent for hours now...
I reckon we best go check on them together, but it'd prepare for the worst case scenario...
(Gavin paused as he heard the news, looking almost horrified.) "..What?"
"The entire forest? God, i- I thought.." (he pat his side, looking for his bag.) "Wheres my..? I thought i had.. I thought i had everything..!" (Let out a shaky breath..) "We cant do this without our bag.. We had everything in there.."
"We're okay. Youre okay.. Breathe."
(Gavin shook his head, hugging himself and catching up to Telamon, being a bit behind from pausing.) "We'd best hurry then. Those are my friends in there, and if anything happened to them , i swear, i'll find whoever did this and-" (trailed off, taking a deep breath, catching himself before he said anything hateful.) "...get the firebrand back."
Yes I was just as shocked as you are when I heard the news, we can worry about how or why this happened once we have the Firebrand back...
Telamon and Gavin finally reached the Bizville docks but yet Telamon didnt even look Gavins way, as if he was dissapointed with the man and who could blame him? Gavin had messed up just like Dussekar claimed
We will have to go by boat, all flights have been halted due to theheavy smoke making it impossible to land.
As for your friends I can't promise they will be safe but if we have time to get them, we will.The most important is us getting the sword back into our grasp.

Well despite me being immortal well even the mighty Telamon, isn't immune to the pains, aches and effects of againg.
The man let out a sigh as he stretched his wings they surely werent as majestic as they used to be in his 'gloey days' he had slowed down a lot lately
As for the Thaniyel family, they better be atleast one of them has to be. I don't wish to lose another sword guardian...

Telamon muttered the last part under his breath, as the growing guilt inside him started to claw itself to the surface, but now wasnt the time to sink into despair the boat had taken off 30 minutes ago and soon they would be docking
You should prepare yourself for the worst, Gavin once the ship has docked you and I will split up, you will search for the sword and the Thaniyels and I well me and the rest of the admins will try to get as many survivors as we can to safety...Dont fail me now boy...

He normally wouldn't have commanded someone centuries older than him around, but this was important well that and he would rather have Damas handle this assuming he knows this world more than Telamon does

He squinted as he looked at the chicken's face trying his best not to laugh.
I know, right? He looks like he's thinking really hard...Or like he's mad at the world or something. I found it wandering around some old statue.
He glanced towards the road he knew all too well that led to Kleber's home, but he wanted to have some fun before they returned Kleber's pet.
Wait...Before we take it back, could we maybe have a little fun with this animal?
I mean, not hurting it or anything! Just...Maybe see what it does, or walk around with it for a bit? It's not every day you find a hooded chicken; it's like a tiny little assassin!
His grin turned a little mischievous, not ill intent in any way, but still some harmless fun.
The struggling halting, the wings loosen, no longer braced to bolt or strike. Its hooded head tilted a little, its eyes softening as they finally met Kaarel's; he reminded him of someone similar when Brad used to be the boy's age.

It sounded quieter this time; almost as if he were apologizing. Telamon only shifted in the boys arms; carefully not wanting to hurt or startle the kids. Though he did press one wing tightly to his side, hiding the outline of something un-chickenlike beneath it's feathers.

There was a gentle, reassuring cadence to it, like it was trying [and failing] to act comforting, the earlier tension out in a long exhale of feathers.
For a moment the birds attention turned back down the road to Kleber's house there was his relative, someone he had failed to protect time and time again not that he'd ever confess that; gods or demi gods never showed weakness, but for now it turned it's attention back towards Emilia and Kaarel.

All he could do was give a small nod of acceptance, with that decided for him he settled down in Kaarel's arms properly this time, allowing himself to be carried, his head lowering as if it were a tiny bow. Whatever game they decide to play, whatever walk they wish to take…He'll go along with it, not because he can't stop it…But because they are kids, and for now they deserve a normal chicken, even if that chicken's heart is pounding beneath a hood and two ancient blades.
Great idea! Maybe he'll do some tricks when he feels safer... who knows?

Of course, he liked and still likes us! He isn't trying to peck us, and he's no longer making sounds of a fearful chicken. Which means he can tell we are nice, animals sense that kind of stuff don'tcha know?
As the chicken in his arms clucked, Kaarel slowly placed him down but he stayed near incase the creature would decide to bolt.
See! It's even talking to us. I think he's trying to thank us... or maybe it's hungry and wants snacks...
Kaarel sat down next to the chicken as he examined the animal closely, but he did take out some corn, dropping it in front of the chicken, perhaps hoping it would show them some tricks.

The young boy urged on as he looked on expectantly...
Telamon stood still when Kaarel placed him down; he didn't even dare to move only when the corn was dropped near him he shifted his attention to the two: First Kaarel, then Emilia...

The sound was slow and deliberate it sounded more like a sigh than a cluck...

Despite his situation, the chicken lowered his head pecking at the corn; it was near and controlled, a bit too fancy. Most farm birds frantically scrambled to pick up the precious meal, but he couldn't in fear of revealing the blades. There was a peck, then a pause, followed by another peck rinse and repeat until there was one last piece left.

Telamon nudged the final remaining kernel towards Emilia, as he looked up tilting his head just enough to make eye contact with the girl.

She was kind after all; hopefully she would take his 'humble gift' now it was Kaarel's turn the young man wanted a 'show' after all and he'd deliver if it meant gaining his freedom. After all his nephew and the world depended on him succeeding...very well.

He exclaimed giving a sharp flick of his wings; not a wild flap, it was crisp and controlled motion. Dust lifted up in a perfect circle around him, like it was a miniature fight area being summoned.
From underneath his cloak he pulled out the sword he owned the illumina; he used to own all these swords but now he needed to duel with it for the entertainment but he still had it; he could them both a duel to die for...
Peep...
The dust didn't settle...Instead it curled upwards; thin, red and trembling. When he noticed the shape in there he froze; it was a smaller chick looking almost like Telamon but it's feathers were black and green.

But Telamon didn't attack; and neither did the chick it just stood there holding the venomshank with its talons, it was only a harmless trick; it wouldn't harm him as long as he didn't.
Chirp!
The chick called out; which made Telamon relax but that reminded him he still had an audience; so he turned to the onlookers puffing out his chest and doing a 'ta-da' motion; surely this was enough right? What more would they want?

Yes; he hit erm still hit's me sometimes perhaps it's just how he was raised but after he and dad spoke of the venom- that sword...Well my dad began yelling at me whenever I mentioned it and whenever I asked to hold it he refused outright, but being the likely future guardian I just wanted to prove I could be responsible and I was until those voices showed up...After that everything was a blur until I woke up in Nirvana and well then I ended up here...
He rubbed the back of his neck; feeling his stomach already tying itself up in knots, but for now he forced his growing anxiety to be buried deep in his chest and stomach, but that still made his body ache.
Yeah I shouldn't have suffered through that all; but it happens sometimes that's just life and also seemingly the afterlife; considering you all are here after 200+ years, I'd hate to imagine what my afterlife would be for me once I pass on for good; if this is what it's gonna be for me...
Brad shook his head trying to distract himself from such thoughts he couldn't focus on that for now he still had a destiny to fulfill and it was approaching him rapidly at this point.

Best call him in, as someone who has known him since I was a young child he gets jealous when other's eat or do anything without him.
Kleber sighs, and scrubs his face with a broad hand, pausing for a moment.

Step-father died when I was 11, and my step-sister's husband became the de facto head of household until my step-brother came of age... many a fight was had, and many times it came to blows."
Kleber picked up the tray of food and began to carry it to the parlor.

He set it down back in its place with a shaking hand, looking up at the portrait he'd had Guerin paint of her, reclining like Madame Recamier on a sofa, tastefully dressed, yet in an Odalisque pose.
