honestly underrated aspect of phantom of the paradise is that beef can figure out what's going on because he's a horror movie fan. like, the set design for somebody super like you being based off cabinet of dr caligari (and so is his intro thing at the airport), his costume/makeup in life at last being a frankenstein look, and most crucially, he's the only one to actually call winslow "the phantom"! he is literally the epitome of that one friend everyone has who watches horror movies all the time and is always saying "i would survive this situation because i would just leave"!! he's so genre aware! but that still wasn't enough to save him!!
