Edinburgh Castle is a historic fortress which dominates the skyline of Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, from its position on the Castle Rock.

Edinburgh Castle, stronghold that was once the residence of Scottish monarchs and now serves mostly as a museum. It stands 443 feet (135 metres) above sea level and overlooks the city of Edinburgh from a volcanic crag called Castle Rock.

The Ruins of Chichén Itzá 🏚️🏚️🏚️🗿🗿

Chichen Itza was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya people of the Terminal Classic period. The archaeological site is located in Tinúm Municipality, Yucatán State, Mexico.

It is located about 120 miles from the modern-day resort town of Cancun, on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.

The well in the name refers to a number of underground rivers that run beneath the region and likely served as the source of water for the city. This easy access to water made the location perfect for a city the size of Chichen Itza.

The name Chichen Itza is a Mayan language term for “at the mouth of the well of the Itza.” The Itza were an ethnic group of Mayans who had risen to power in the northern part of the Yucatan peninsula, where the city is located.

Angkor Wat 💒⛩️💒⛩️

Angkor Wat is a Buddhist temple complex in Cambodia and is the largest religious monument in the world, on a site measuring 162.6 hectares (1,626,000 m2; 402 acres).

Originally constructed as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, it was gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century.

It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.

An immense mausoleum of white marble, built in Agra on the south bank of the Yamuna river between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife Mumtaz Mahal.

The Taj Mahal was designated as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage".

It completed entirely in 1653 at a cost estimated at the time to be around 32 million rupees, which in 2015 would be approximately 52.8 billion rupees (U.S. $827 million).

The Colosseum is the most visited historical monument in Italy.

This vintage amphitheater was raised by Emperor Vespasian of the Flavian dynasty in 72 AD.

It has the capacity to hold more than 50,000 spectators with more than 80 doorways.

Given the times when it was actually constructed, and even though it took them about ten years to finish it, it was a colossal feat of engineering.

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, two miles (3 km) west of Amesbury.

You might think Stonehenge is just a circle of giant, moss-covered stones in the middle of a grass field, well, you wouldn’t be wrong. But what’s special about Stonehenge is the mystery which surrounds it. No-one knows where it came from or how it got there. Is it a ceremonial site or a big sundial? No-one’s sure. It even has scientists and archaeologists baffled.

Archaeologists believe it was constructed from 3000 BC to 2000 BC.

It also draws more than 800,000 tourists a year.
