good morning don’t fucking use essential oils around your pets especially birds and reptiles and cats spraying your pet with diluted lavender isn’t going to antioxidize them or whatever stupid bullshit you pulled off a holistic website
There are SOME essential oils that are safe for pets but many that can and WILL injure or kill your pet. Do your damn research just like you would for yourself
There are NO essential oils safe for your pets.
I did my research. I am a biochemist.
Essential oils are concentrated extracts, which are highly volatile. Their fumes are full of phenols, monoterpene hydrocarbons, phenylpropanes, and ketones. These compounds are toxic and can cause serious illness and death through extended exposure.
Let’s take a popular one: lavender oil. The active ingredient in essential lavender oil is linaool. Linaool is a cytotoxin, it destroys cell membranes. Inhaled and placed on skin, it can cause permanent damage.
“but what if you dilute it?”
Dilution won’t work. Long time exposure of a diluted toxin will result in the same damage as short term exposure of a concentrated one. Ingesting small amounts of radioactive material over time will give me the same cancer a gamma burst would. And if you dilute it extensively, you’re basically removing any effect you desired of the oil.
There’s no reason to use essential oils around pets. They make calming supplements that aren’t volatile and toxic. They make calming pheramone diffusers. If your animal is destructive (like a plucking parrot) then they’re understimulated and bored. Spritzing your pet with dangerous oils aren’t a substitute for reassessing and changing husbandry.
I’ve used lavender countless times on my cats Sebastian. He has huge paws and lots of fur so he’s susceptible to yeast infections between his little toe beans, and lavender helps speed up the healing process and ease the swelling a bit. I’ve also used lavender for burns on my dogs paw pads.
first of all, if you have a problem with me @ me next time instead of hiding in your tags
Second of all, did you like… actually read what I wrote? Because I literally stated that lavender oil has a toxic component that can cause cell damage over time. Did you conveniently skip over that part?
You are slowly poisoning your pets but (Autoxidation of linalyl acetate, the main component of lavender oil, creates potent contact allergens.) go (Cytotoxicity of lavender oil and its major components to human skin cells.) off (Toxicity to vapor exposure and topical application of essential oils and monoterpenes on Musca domestica (Diptera: Muscidae). I (Essential Oil and Liquid Potpourri Poisoning in Cats ) guess (Essential Oil and Liquid Potpourri Poisoning in Dogs)
Lavender is toxic to cats, period. Even in its non-ultraconcentrated natural state.
I have seen MULTIPLE internet sites listing essential oils that are studied and known to be toxic to cats and dogs as “safe”. There are many, many bad sources out there. If you do your research, make sure you’re actually basing your information on scientifically verified, peer-reviewed information, not tertiary sources and anecdotal information.
Do not use essential oils on your pets or around your pets.
If your pet has chronic paw infections, take it to the vet. Your vet can address the root cause (lots of fur and big paws shouldn’t inherently cause yeast infections and I’d really suggest looking at the cat’s diet and other lifestyle issues) and provide more effective, safer treatments.
Essential oils are incredibly toxic for reptiles, birds, and small animals as well. Reptiles and birds are especially susceptible to the fumes (VOCs). This includes essential oil diffusers, which I’ve often seen touted as “safer” than candles. They are not safer and still release dangerous VOCs.

This was a job seeking spell I did on the night of the super blue blood moon and I’m sharing for anyone interested!
You’ll need:
- A glass jar/bottle with a cork - A green candle (for money) - Himalayan salt (for dissolving self doubt) - Crushed eggshells (for strength) - Crushed red pepper (for vitality) - Black pepper (for a commanding presence) - Cinnamon (for prosperity) - Sugar (for a bit of sweetness) - Rose petals (for confidence) - Thyme (for courage) - Rosemary (for focus)
1.) First light the green candle, focusing all of your intent on future employers contacting you by phone or email.
2.) Add the Himalayan salt first then layer as you please taking that time to visualize yourself sitting in an interview.
3.) Draw a sigil on the cork if you wish.
4.) Once you feel you have enough wax for the seal, snuff out the green candle while saying, “I want a job, I’m going to get a job.”
5.) Seal the bottle with the green wax and keep it in a place where you’ll see it often!
Good luck!
Note: The very next morning after I did this spell I received a phone call for an interview!!
I’m really happy with how the sigil I made for this cute little spell candle turned out Instagram @angelinnapit 🕯✨
When my Mum was pregnant with me she was in the pub and this random creepy elderly woman that nobody ever saw before or since told her that she was going to have a boy and when I was born everyone was like “the creepy lady was wrong” but it turned out I’m trans and THE PUB WITCH WAS RIGHT!
I WAS FORETOLD BY THE PUB WITCH

Hi! I was wondering if you're suppose to properly (respectfully?) dispose a book of shadows, if so how? i wanna switch things up cause im not feeling the one i have, and it doesnt have enough space either
i don’t think there’s a specific proper way, but if you want to make sure to send it off with good vibes i’d either shred or (carefully!) burn it while endowing the debris with respectful intentions and a sense of closure
hey i just recently started my own bos. do i need to put spells in it? ive got a seperate book for that and id hate to get rid of it.
no! you can include anything you want! your book of shadows is what you make of it and you shouldn’t feel any pressure to live up to any arbitrary standards with it. it’s for you, after all.
Salutations! I know I could Google this, but I'm also interested in your opinion. I saw an ask where you said that essential oils are horrible for the earth. Would you mind elaborating?
Well it really comes down to the quantity of product that is required to create a very small amount of oil. Imagine the amount of resources - space on the planet, water, fertilizer - that is required to produce, say, a grove of lemons. Now, if those lemons are used as lemons, they can provide dozens of lemons for dozens and dozens of families throughout a growing season. But if used for essential oil, those same dozens and dozens of lemons will become a few ounces of oil. And almost all cases, the oil provides no benefits that aren’t inherent in the fruit itself. If you need some oil for something that specifically calls for oil, you can squeeze a piece of peel until it excretes some oil and use that. If you want it for flavor, you can squeeze the juice or zest the peel. It’s quite simply wrong ethically for one person to use hundreds and hundreds of lemons and that’s exactly what you’re doing when you use essential oil. You’re using hundreds and hundreds of lemons, or pounds and pounds of oregano, or mint, or whatever. And we don’t live in a world where people can use resources that way. We need to reduce our footprint, and essential oils require a huge footprint for a tiny amount of product. With roses, for example, it takes hundreds of pounds of roses to create a vial of oil that shows NO scientific superiority over tea made with a couple of rose hips or magically, a few crushed up petals. Which is better? One person using hundreds of roses and the resources it took to water, feed, pick, process, bottle, ship, and sell, or one person using a couple of rise hips snipped from their rose bush? And there’s more; there’s the aspect of people who have lived off their local oranges or whatever for centuries who are now dying of scurvy because they’re selling the oranges to Doterra, and even though they’re paid “free trade wages”, it’s still not enough for them to buy a good food replacement. And oil companies utilize only a tiny fraction of each orange in the oil production. Most of it ends up being a waste.
So sorry for that rant. I just feel very passionately about the subject. As a witch, I run into spells that call for essential oils or other witches recommending their use dozens of times a day and every time I want to cry. Essential oils are actively contributing to killing this planet and we need to stop supporting them.
Calypso’s Into Earth Witch Soup
Once upon a time I read the first of Christine Feehan’s Carpathian novels (I have yet to res the rest…library soon??) ~ anywho ~ this soup reminded me of that book. The carpathian vamps return to the Earth (beneath the soil) every so often to heal, recharge, and gather power. I was rather sick all week, so I concocted a soup plan haha. It turned out well! *Can easily be made vegan using veggie broth.*
Ingredients: 5 or 6 organic carrots One Vidalia onion (could def add shallots!) Half head of purple cabbage 6 or 7 red potatoes, halved 13 medium cloves of garlic, chopped (those on the smaller side can go in whole) 2 fingers of ginger, peeled and finely chopped Handful fresh oregano Handful fresh sage 13ish large white (portabella) mushrooms, halved 2.5 TBSP beef bouillon Red pepper flakes, salt, Rosemary to taste Large soup pot filled halfway with water
To Make: Fill soup pot halfway with water, turn burner to high. Add garlic and ginger as soon as water starts simmering…after 5-10 minutes add fresh herbs Wait a few minutes before adding onions and bouillon - wait for broth to come to boil Add your peeled and chopped carrots Stir, taste, adjust Add mushrooms Add cabbage Cover, turn burner to medium and let simmer for 10 minutes.
***I suggest adding shallots, morels, merlot, and potatoes for a more bodied soup. In addition, onions & garlic could be browned in butter prior to making soup. Bone broth would be IDEAL.***
