Alisena let out a soft, weary sigh as she stepped through the threshold to her manor sanctum, delicate fingers slipping to her temple to rub the growing headache that threatened to overtake her. Another day of taking notes on the latest gossip, listening to the snide words of noblemen and women who had nothing better to do than smear each other behind their backs. All to keep up appearances, of course. She had no interest in the court of Stormwind, but being a handmaiden of Lady Rosemarri Sunshield had both pleasant and unpleasant duties, and listening to middling gossip was one of them. She let out a breath she had not realized she'd been holding. "Saryla," she called into the manor house.
The bonded Sayaad appeared in a flash of fel flame, in her guise as the noble woman's maid. She stepped and bowed. "Yes, Mistress? How may I serve you?"
Alisena offered a wane smile. "I suppose ridding the world of inane gossipmongers would be a bit too evil," she jested. "Would you draw a bath for me….and is Gwyndolen upstairs?"
"No Mistress, she's off on a courier mission. She said not to worry." Alisena let disappointment light her face for a moment before she nodded. She could have done with some time with her wife, but the San'layn did not have the temperament to settle down, something she admired in her. She smiled faintly again. "A bath then….and a glass of wine would be wonderful. Thank you, darling." The demoness bowed and bustled upstairs to draw the woman's bath, while Alisena made her way to the master bedroom. Nimble fingers undid the lacings of her gown and the garment slipped from her shoulders as she sat at her dressing table, undoing the rest of her clothing and setting her glasses on the table. She stared into the mirror, lost in thought, until she was startled back to reality by the sound of Saryla's voice. "Mistress, your bath is ready."
She stepped to the bath and the Sayaad helped her descend into the bath. A glass of wine waited at on a table beside the ornate basin, and she lazily waved a hand. "Thank you, my dear. I just need a few minutes to myself, I think, and I'll be ready to write down the notes from court for Rosemarri." The Sayaad bowed. "I'll be downstairs if you need anything, Mistress." The demoness turned and stepped out of bathroom, leaving the noblewoman alone with her thoughts. She lazed back in the tub, letting the warm water soak away the stress from her, her eyes closing as she leaned back. A hand reached for the wine glass, fingers curling around the glass stem. She would have to be careful that she didn't doze off, she thought to herself, she would prune, her skin would wrinkle up……
The mental summons came out of nowhere. Her hand spasmed as the summon, chaotic and wild in it's nature, stabbed deep into her mental psyche, and she dropped the wine glass and it shattered into a million pieces. She bolted upright just as Saryla crashed into the bathroom. "Mistress?! Are you alright?!" Alisena didn't answer….there was only one reason Rosemarri would send such a wild summons…..if something terrible was happening.
Where are you?
She waited for minutes, but not answer came. Why was Rosemarri not answering? That special place in Alisena's psyche, where she could always feel her sisters and brothers, grew chaotic, but one voice remained silent. Rosemarri? Where. Are. You? Answer me!
Nothing.
Fine. I'm coming to you. She reached for the thread that would lead her to Rosemarri, grasping desperately….and finding nothing. She let out a panicked breath….she couldn't find her. She stood up suddenly and climbed from the tub, leaving the demoness bewildered. "My Lady, what are you doing?"
"Dressing. Prepare Luna. I need to go to Southwatch."
"Southwatch? This late at night?! You should rest, we should call Miss Tyr….."
"Lady Rosemarri Sunshield is gone, Saryla. Gone. I cannot find her. I can't feel her!" She dressed quickly, in clothing suitable for traveling instead of her normal gowns. She turned from the wardrobe and entered the armory to retrieve her staff and her void blades. "I have to go to her father. Now."
