“Why am I here.” Roderich restates dryly back, feeling a little bristly at the veiled hostility in her question. He now most certainly thinks leaving sooner rather than later would be in his best interest. Roderich doesn’t know how to answer that question anyway, so he won’t validate it with a makeshift answer.
“Honestly to help, but I can see I’ve helped enough.” He settles on, his tone a bit harder, and it’s reflected in a matching expression. If he was going to be soft, that moment felt thwarted off and replaced by a feeling of guarding against whatever it was she was or could throw at him.
Emese should find no comfort lying her head on Roderich’s chest, yet he’s warm and there is the soft heartbeat that puts her mind at ease. Perhaps that is why she hasn’t shifted her position, or maybe because it would be painful; however, she should remove herself from Roderich. Especially with the ever-growing tension in the room.
But his presence is comforting. And that newfound discovery, along with several others tonight cannot be processed by Emese at this moment. There was a chance this moment would never even matter or it would become a fixation, it was too early to tell.
“Your help has always come with a price. I just assume you aren’t here on your own volition, that’s all.” Emese states, before asking, “So, what are you getting out of helping me?” Information is what she’s after and her paranoia is setting in, Emese is starting to wonder if she can trust Roderich at all.
